Ikki o' Moopyville Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Due to the partial uproar over names such as Teridax, Helryx, and so on in the recent years of Bionicle, people have contributed with their own suggestions for what would be suitable names for various characters. Unlike the Maori patterns of the first year, Bionicle has in later years moved over to English-based words, which has sparked some 'Maorification' of names such as those of the Makuta. I already opted for Taërokha instead of Teridax. So, I'm curious, which Bionicle characters' names would you change -- and to what? -Ikk Quote
Heir of the Chronicler Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 As you well know... Toa Hagah = Toa Valan Brutaka = Naladwor Axonn = Nomir Dorn Quote
hewkii9 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I'd keep Helryx. Sounds slightly Nordic to me, but I still like it. Quote
Bara Magna Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Screw Teridax: Just call him Makuta now. Anywho, I would change Axalara. I just sounds to English-based. The set is awsome though. I would change it to something sounding more like Karsa (not because of "car", but because of Karda (love that name) Quote
VBBN Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Rockoh T3: Enjax T3 Brutaka: Bookar I'll think of more soon. Nice topic idea, BTW. Quote
hewkii9 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I've decided that the Barraki could do with Nordic-iz-ation. Pridak - Prithor Carapar - Ceraden Takadox - Tadoki Ehlek - Valhalek Mantax - Manrir Kalmah - Kalris And just for the true fans... Mata Nui - Aravagantos Quote
Kakihara Smile Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 The only name I CANNOT stand is Teridax... Every time I see it I think "Terry-Dax" and I can't stand the names based on english names. I could keep the basic structure though and maybe make it something like Tryedax (T-Rye-Dax) or Teradax (Tear-A-Dax). Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I miss the good old days, where japanese diecast robot companies would make up names because they "sounded" a little bit english. Guyver Sharivan Gavan Golion (lotta' G's so far huh?) Winspecter Vavilos Dairugger Gunhed Baldios Voltes Gaiking Briareos Quote
hewkii9 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Dairugger Dairugger? Dairugger? Is this for real real? Quote
Brickthing Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Teridax: Godzilla. I don't think that would pass through LEGO's legal department... Personally I think all the names are fine, although Teridax should definitely go back to being The Makuta now. Quote
Shakar Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 And just for the true fans...Mata Nui - Aravagantos Quote
Cap'n Kopaka Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 I think it would be sweet if Teridax's true name was "Makuta" for some reason or another... xP But if it had to be something new, maybe something archaic-sounding... With that Maori/Hawaiian/Japanese/Polynesian sound of the 2001 characters. Something ominous-sounding. Same for The Shadowed One's name, but I'd love seeing the canon name at this point no matter how awful it sounded :P Quote
ShaddowCroc Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I like almost all of the BIONICLE names, and think that Teridax is the coolest name for Makuta. But I would've rather called Helryx something like Galryx since she is the first Toa and needs to have a water-based name. . . Quote
