Brickdoctor Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Indeed. Don't know if you know already, but there's a bigger discussion in the Star Wars forum. Quote
DarthSion Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Yes I saw that, it popped up after I posted in this thread about it, but I just ignored it because it is pointless to have a whole thread just for it. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Darth Vader and co. will be making some sort of important announcement at the Panasonic Booth at CES tomorrow around 11:30am PST. No idea what it is, most of the commenters are guessing that it's details of the BluRay or 3D releases, given that the picture posted by StarWars.com is apparently from a deleted RotJ scene. Me, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an announcement of light at the end of the CW tunnel. Sorry KDM. Quote
simonjedi Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Call this a hunch, but i don't think you like CW (why?) I'm going to guess Blu-ray news. Quote
RileyC Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Hmm very interesting. While Im guessing it is probably Blu-Ray release information, wouldnt it be awesome if they gave us Battlefront 3? I know Im a dreamer but on the worlds biggest tech stage why not release the worlds most awaited game? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Call this a hunch, but i don't think you like CW (why?) I won't go in depth; I've explained this elsewhere; but I don't like CW mostly because it presents in irrealistic view of what Star Wars should be. Hmm very interesting. While Im guessing it is probably Blu-Ray release information, wouldnt it be awesome if they gave us Battlefront 3? I know Im a dreamer but on the worlds biggest tech stage why not release the worlds most awaited game? Not a bad suggestion. Would make my day (or week or month ), that's for sure. Quote
simonjedi Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I won't go in depth; I've explained this elsewhere; but I don't like CW mostly because it presents in irrealistic view of what Star Wars should be An irrealistic view of a series where there's planet destroying lasers, frogs with laserswords, and a 4 armed robot with breathing problems? :P Which one(s) do you hate? Tartosky CW or 3D CW? Personally i prefer them to 1,2 and 3. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 An irrealistic view of a series where there's planet destroying lasers, frogs with laserswords, and a 4 armed robot with breathing problems? :P Which one(s) do you hate? Tartosky CW or 3D CW? Personally i prefer them to 1,2 and 3. Well, both are irrealistic in that in the old one the Jedi possessed massive Force powers and in the new one the Seps never win, but I'd say the old one was better because it doesn't matter as much how irrealistically powerful the Jedi are when they lose anyways. Mostly what bugs me is how often new technology is introduced, how the Jedi seem to enjoy the war, how CW seems to have no respect for the timeline, and how the Republic never loses. In AnH, Obi-Wan describes the Clone Wars as a time no one would want to remember where many were killed, and yet in the CW show, he runs around poking fun at Grievous and killing droids left and right seemingly without a scratch dealt to him. And despite the fact that wartime accelerates development of technology, we can't have new vehicles and droids and clones in nearly every episode. And if they are going to introduce new stuff, at least give them good names. *cough*Super Tank*cough*. One of the things that really bugged me was the prototype cloaked ship. Either they used Stygium crystals, which in addition to supposedly being all but impossible to obtain wouldn't need prototypes, or they used a Thrawn-type cloaking shield which doesn't all the cloaked ship and crew to sense electronically or physically anything outside the shield. Then there's the problem of CW rewriting whatever stories it needs to in order to introduce a new timeline that isn't as good as the original one anyways. Quote

Oh that episode called 'God, I love this war.' you know the one where Obi wan is running around with a ^_^ face. They do get injured, Anakin almost dies in one episode and Obi wan is pretty beaten up in the Geonosis episodes. It doesn't help the fact that battle droids are useless and not a threat. And despite the fact that wartime accelerates development of technology, we can't have new vehicles and droids and clones in nearly every episode. Ermm... Why? at least give them good names. *cough*Super Tank*cough*. *Cough* Death Star *Cough* One of the things that really bugged me was the prototype cloaked ship. One of your main criticisms is that it doesn't include a bit of stupid obscure technobabble that 90% of the audience wouldn't care about. Star Wars Cannon gets written all the time, just check how many people stole the Death Star plans. Hell even the films don't even fit with each other. Quote
RileyC Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 *Cough* Death Star *Cough* Hell even the films don't even fit with each other. Really? In which way? I am amped for the Blu Ray release. Definitey getting the 6 film set for the apparent 30 hour of extras it says it has! I cant wait for all that. I wonder how many deleted scenes they have put in to the films though. Still its definitely on my list of things to buy and I cant wait! Quote

simonjedi Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) Really? In which way? Quite a few, Vader in IV wasn't a sith, he was just a Imperial officer/emperors right handman, look how badly he was treated in the film by leia and Tarkin. His name was actually Darth . The Emperor was just a figurehead and the regional governors like Tarkin were the ones runnning everything. The fact that no one believed the jedi/force existed after like 19 years, people like motti (Officer who gets strangled in ANH) would have been like 20ish during the CW so would know SOMETHING. Imagine Football/Soccor being banned suddenly right now. Surely in 20 years you'd remember it wouldn't you, especially if the person who banned it's right handman was a goalkeeper and carried a nike branded football. Don't forget the obvious plotholes (Leia remembering her mother, "from a certain point of view," The fact that a bit of common sense could have foiled palpatines plans. Dying of a broken heart ) But hey, blu-ray news you say? Depending on the film cgi changes i'll pick up the OT. I'll only pick up the PT if either a)I'm forced to, because thats how it's packaged. b) It's a gift or c) It has great bonus stuff. Edited January 7, 2011 by simonjedi Quote
The Legonater Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Quite a few, Vader in IV wasn't a sith, he was just a Imperial officer/emperors right handman, look how badly he was treated in the film by leia and Tarkin. His name was actually Darth . He wasn't really treated badly at all by them. And there's really no evidence to state he wasn't a sith, that he was a henchman, or that his name was Darth. It was more like they didn't think it was real. It's like science, for the longest time people thought it was magic. Even in PT canon there's a lot of people shocked by Jedi abilities. Don't forget the obvious plotholes (Leia remembering her mother, "from a certain point of view," The fact that a bit of common sense could have foiled palpatines plans. Dying of a broken heart ) From a certian point of view? Leia did see her mother- her eyes were wide open, and I'm sure the Force has certain memory capabilities. As for that last part, Palpy could probably have whipped some back up plan in 10 seconds. I am amped for the Blu Ray release. Definitey getting the 6 film set for the apparent 30 hour of extras it says it has! I cant wait for all that. I wonder how many deleted scenes they have put in to the films though. Still its definitely on my list of things to buy and I cant wait! I'd be more amped if I had a Blu Ray player . If there's one scene I'm hoping they add, it's the Wampa attack. Sure, it has little to do with the plot, but it would be sweet to see Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 *Cough* Death Star *Cough* Okay, fine. I always thought that was a rather fitting name. It'll look like the last star the victims will ever see, because it causes death. And before you say, 'The Super Tank looks like a tank that is super', super isn't as good of an adjective as 'death'. I mean, 'Death Tank' is still a pretty lame name, but is sound better than 'Super Tank'. And 'Death Star' sounds better than 'Super Star'. Quote
DarthSion Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 http://www.jedinews.co.uk/news/news.aspx?newsID=4340 Info on the blu-ray release, 9 disks?. Quote
prateek Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 http://www.jedinews.co.uk/news/news.aspx?newsID=4340 Info on the blu-ray release, 9 disks?. 9 disks!?! I'm predicting $200 I want it, but I probably won't get it at full price. It looks like we're getting 3 full disks of bonuses, considering each trilogy by itself is 3 disks. Quote
