Has anyone read Empire's End? I haven't yet but I hear it finally reveals what happened at the Battle of Jakku,

I haven't read it, but I have seen a few YouTube video reviews. Apparently it reveals the fate of... Jar Jar Binks?

Yeah it's just a small excerpt saying that he is practically a clown for refugees on Naboo. And that he is banished from his gungan home and adults avoid him because it looked like he helped the Empire form.

A suitable fate for him that is a nice play on his status in the fandom. For many he is the definite symbol that unites everything that went wrong with the prequels, so having him end up as sad and outcast clown - just confirms what he de facto is

And yes, he indeed was the person who went forward to support him when it came to granting Palpatine extended powers. The last piece in the puzzle so to say.

IIRC Jar Jar was appointed senator of Naboo after Palpatine was elected chancellor, right? Did he come up with the idea of granting Palpatine emergency powers to deal with the clone war?

I always understood it as there being more people (or other people) behind this idea, not only Jar Jar. But either way, Palpatine managed to hide his true nature from th whole galaxy, even from the Jedi order. I don't blame Jar Jar even if it was his idea, since no one had the slightest idea Palpatine secretly was a powerful Sith Lord.

I heard some time ago that George Lucas originally planned the clumsy Jar Jar to be a secret Sith or something, secretly working with Palpatine, but changed his mind and changed Jar Jar's role after TPM came out and he learned how disliked Jar Jar became. Do you think his original plan stayed in the prequels anyway and Jar Jar's suggestion in the senate was actually a part of the plan to make sure Palpatine would gain the political power he needed to overthrow the republic and create the empire?

I have heard about the Jar-Jar being a hidden sith idea as well. Ah yes, here is a video about it. I think its possible, but would be quite an emotionally alienating move towards the kids who grew up and were very fond of him. You can't rule it out though, as weird as it sounds!

Were there really kids fond of Jar-Jar? I was a kid when Ep I came out, and I absolutely hated him.

I think that was at least his plan. No idea if it worked out... for my part, I already didn't like the Ewoks when I had my first Star Wars encounter in VHS

I still dont like the ewoks

To be fair I dont hate the concept behind the ewoks I just find the execution extremely poor. If they were going for the massive numbers of warriors on homeground overwhelming an arrogant and outnumbered force angle they still needed to show the ewoks paying a hefty price. If not killing ewoks on camera show the Empire burning villages and stuff.

Lucas' concept for them was originally inspired by the Viet Cong, so here we go

I am rather happy though that we got spared such scenes of mass slaughter. It would have put off quite a lot people, I think. The original trilogy was never much into showing direct violence. Apart from its habit of cutting arms off with lightsabers

A middle ground would have been nice. Somewhere between cute and fluffy teddies and Apocalypse Now in space!

I don't mind him. But JANGBRiCKS said in his Vulture Droid review:

I do believe it's true, but he scrapped the idea and voila! Count Dooku pops out of nowhere.

Only one of those sounds really really cool, and it is the one without the bears! Oo In fact, we need video now of the Empire smashing things to the tune of Ride of Valkyries! Love the smell of plasma bolts in the morning! It smells like...plasma smells....

Ewok's are Shi-Tzu's that EAT people. If that ain't nightmare fuel for you all, then I don't know what is.

I think the Darth Jar Jar theories are ridiculous fan theories meant to generate clickbait on YouTube video titles. I doubt Lucas was EVER really considering Jar Jar as a sith lord, only desperate fans struggling to find meaning in his antics. As for his antics... When I saw the Phantom Menace as a kid I loved the film, and everything about it. My parents have a picture they took a few months later of us in a super market posing with a plastic display statue of Jar Jar Binks. I remember them going out of their way to take me to the market to get a picture with Jar Jar. Now they actually hated the film, but it wasn't until I was older and my palette refined a bit that I started to see the flaws in the film. By the time Revenge of the Sith came out I could see the flaws of the Phantom Menace rather well. However, to be honest Jar Jar had a few decent moments in The Clone Wars series. Although I am still creeped out by the episode where it is revealed Jar Jar had a girlfriend... it was a little to weird for me.

I actually do feel sorry for him though knowing what happened to him after the wars finished. I think Disney chose a conclusion to his story that sums up how the character was received by fans, giving him some in universe tragedy.

Ewoks did tried to roast Han Solo over an open fire.  Watch out for traps.

It seems kind of far fetch that Dooku should have been Jar-Jar.  Although, Dooku's exit might be more appropriate for Jar-Jar than a clown retirement.

A little off-topic perhaps, but I have an interest in checking out new places on Google Maps, and just now I found an island off the south-west coast of Ireland with the name Scariff, as well as a town in in-land Ireland with the name Scarriff.

I don't know if anyone's aware of it or if it's been posted before, but thought I'd share it.

Thats actually really funny. Im not sure which forum it was that I saw the article shared but it was about the origin of the name scarif.

Apparently Gareth Edwards was trying to figure out how to get his name in the movie but couldnt in a non obvious way. During production he was at Starbucks and when he gave his name the cashier misheard his name and so when he got his coffee it said Scarif rather then Gareth. Someone else on the team liked it so they put Scarif in.

LMAO!! That's hilarious :head_back:

I've read an article that says Starbucks misspell the customer names on the cups on purpose because it generates publicity for them. If it's true, judging by all the pics I've seen from people who have had their names misspelled on Starbucks cups, it works perfectly

It would be fun to know if the actual Starbucks employee have watched Rogue One and if he/she realized they may be the source of inspiration for the name of the planet.

So here's a rumor/spoiler about the upcoming Han Solo Anthology Film, and I will not be happy if it's true.

Spoiler

Some users on Reddit are claiming that "Han Solo" isn't the character's real name. Like "Han Solo" is an alternate identity of sorts he adopted to hide who he really was?

What the hell? Why would Disney do that to us?
