Oky Posted February 5, 2012 Author Posted February 5, 2012 You know, although you just make inflammatory remarks all of the time, I do tend to agree with you about this. I quite liked the whole part with the dog; I foudn that clever and cute, although I was wondering how it had to do with Star Wars. Then when the Star Wars part came in, it just felt useless. There was no motivation for it at all, besides for 'let's do Star Wars.' That was lame. Yeah, that's exactly how I felt. Oh boy, here we go... http://www.aintitcool.com/node/53166 This sounds fake to me, but I guess it's possible. Being a fan of time travel stories, and seeing the lack of them in the SW universe, I always thought it would be interesting to introduce that concept, but aside from fun little fanfics (anyone remember the Star Wars Comic Game?) I never thought about how it would actually incorporate into the franchise. Now that I think about it, it might not be such a good idea, but if done well, they could still poll it off, I think. Only time will tell. Maybe everything will get so screwed up that it will all end with Anakin waking up and realizing its just been a bad dream... Or maybe it could be Jar Jar's dream. That would be better.... Or they could just do the whole Star Trek thing where the time traveling creates an alternate universe/timeline, so none of the existing canon will get screwed up. Quote

Fallenangel Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Anyone else feel like they're falling out of the loop? I have zero interest in The Old Republic MMO, nor do I have any idea what's going on in THE Clone Wars (or care to know), and now this. Heck, over half the articles on Wookieepedia are full of stuff from the last four years or so that I've never heard of. Maybe I'm just getting paranoid about there being too many kids in the Star Wars subforum again. Eh... Quote
Churchill Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Not just you. I have no interest in TOR. It's way too off of the timeline for one thing. I watch Clone Wars. The more I hear about this live action series, the less I think I'll be interested in it. So, no, you're not alone... Quote

LEGOman273 Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 (edited) Oh, terrific. Time travel is the one thing I feel has always ruined any sci-fi series that wasn't originally built around it. (Back to the Future remains awesome because it was originally a time travel series) I never liked it in Star Trek, and if this rumor is true, I'm definitely not going to like it in Star Wars. Besides, if you succeed in killing Vader, then you're stuck in a loop. And if you go into an alternate timeline, then everything just gets messy. And if you do kill Vader, then in that alternate timeline, Vader can't kill Dooku, so Dooku and Palpy take over the galaxy together (according to the plan before Anakin was discovered in Menace), Dooku will fail to overthrown Palpy (I think that much is obvious), Vader will never have Luke or Leia, the Rebellion dies out as the Death Star blows planet after planet up, Vader can't kill Palpy, and, in the end everything gets worse. N-canon. You do know that I was joking, right? I like TCW , don't hurt me. As do I. A lot of people do. It's just that those who hate it are more vocal. Edited February 5, 2012 by Legoman273 Quote
The Legonater Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Alright, I'm a big fan of time travel movies like Terminator and Back to the Future (and I love it even more when they ) but Star Wars has always seemed like a different brand of sci-fi to me, one beyond most sci-fi cliches. So when evil bad guys from another galaxy or strange diseases no one understands come into play, I get a little irritated. Time travel happens to be one of them. And although this isn't the first incident, the previous ones still irritate me, and it's worse that this one seems to be a bad Terminator remake. Hopefully, this is false info. Quote

They've managed to wear me out with the sheer amount of crap they're putting out.. I don't watch the CW. Have no interest in TOR/MMOs. I'm not going to see TPM3D or buy the Blu-rays. There hasn't been a good game released in ages. Kinect SW looks like toss, The only Star Wars merch I've brought recently is some lego and a Force fx lightsaber with removable blade (Episode 4 Luke) Quote
DarthR2-D2 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 What happened to "no main characters"? I thought this was gonna be "Underworld" as in smuggling/bounty hunters/gangsters/etc. And theoretically if time travel was possible, you couldn't go back and when you go to the future you can't go back. (Eg: If you go back in time and kill an ancestor like your grandfather you would never be born to kill your grandfather in the first place.) Quote

(Eg: If you go back in time and kill an ancestor like your grandfather you would never be born to kill your grandfather in the first place.) The Grandfather's Paradox. That's one of the reasons time travel stories just don't work logically- it's full of paradoxes. If you can stay out of it, you proabably should. Quote

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Wait a minute: “Eventually, Luke Skywalker and his son, Ben, allied themselves with a group of Sith...” What? Has something like this happened before (outside of that one episode of THE Clone Wars)? The only Star Wars merch I've brought recently is some lego and a Force fx lightsaber with removable blade (Episode 4 Luke) Ah, Force FX – I recall having looked a few of those over some time back. Beautifully crafted, and with fantastic sound effects (which in turn inspired many embarrassing YouTube videos of shameless fanboys in the heat of 'battle' ) Luke's lightsaber requires so relatively little modification of the original Graflex unit, though, that I'm wondering whether it wouldn't be cheaper to hunt one down and make it at home. DarthSion Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 I think that star wars episode plot was a joke, otherwise trying to kill a A Jedi would be very difficult, on the other hand it says allot about how rubbish they are at being bounty hunters if they can not kill a middle aged woman and her kid. LEGOman273 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 I read the comments below that article and, among "megabluck Lucas" and "Go back in time and erase the prequals", a few people said "Time travelling bandits. Time bandits, I get it." What did they mean? Is this a joke of some kind? Quote
Fallenangel Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Apparently it's an old British film. I would generally steer clear of the comments section of any article - too much stupidity. Quote

Agreed! I think this whole thing is a joke. It reported that an official source originally stated this, but the source was not cited. Also, there has been no official word of this sort. It is fake. LEGOman273 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 When Season 4 of TCW is over there will have been 88 episodes. Are they still going to make only 100 episodes (making Season 5 short - 12 episodes), or will they make more? Quote
simonjedi Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Fun fact about "Time Bandits": Everyone thinks Warwick Davis is in it! (He isn't) It's a running joke in his autobiography. (Which is a very good read and I'm going to give it a plug.) "Luke's lightsaber requires so relatively little modification of the original Graflex unit, though, that I'm wondering whether it wouldn't be cheaper to hunt one down and make it at home." I'm guessing it's more expensive, there can't be THAT many Graflex 4 cells available now. Plus modifications snd light/sounds and blade (If you're having a working replica) The cost will add up. Probably cheaper to buy an fx Quote

Agreed. FotJ is really starting to seem like a joke to me- bearing in mind I'm only about halfway through, due to the slowness of paperback releases. Sure, it's an elaberate joke, and is actually decently funny, but a joke nonetheless. A lot of people share the same sentiments with LotF- which I actually found to be one of the better series in the EU, because it seemed very thought out- and frankly it seems to be a growing sentiment overall.
