CMP Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 As for Mace see: PT jedi are morons. All he had was Anakin's word that Palpatine was a sith. He did decide to barge in Palpatine's private office, in the middle of the night flanked by 3 jedi masters all with weapons drawn. Anakin had been their spy on Palpatine for a bit of time, they had been suspicious of him, and I doubt they would just ignore him. Quote
The Legonater Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) Well. I do not expect the Jedi Council to say: "Chancellor, we have looked into Order 66 - and you know what? We find it totally reasonable. Of course there is a realistic chance that the Jedi Order will grasp for the power of the Republic, and consequently it is totally reasonable to draft a law and an Order to take care of this possibility by wiping out the Jedi. It is equally reasonable that you are the only one to determine whether or not the Jedi try to take over the leadership of the Republic, and that you are the only one who can set Order 66 in motion, without any further democratic check." So to me, the big question is how Palpatine can get away with it. Did it pass the Jedi's attention? I'd find that hard to swallow. If it didn't pass the Jedi's attention, why then didn't they intervene or grew suspicious? These are the questions that remain unanswered, though we might know what Order 66 is. The Jedi Council knew nothing of the contingency orders- they didn't care. They were free to ask, but they were so arrogant they didn't bother to look over them. And yes, there were a few orders that would take out Palps, too. In fact, if the Jedi had looked into that order, the arrest of Palps could have gone very differantly. Windu really had no choice. Quote

Apparently he did, seeing as he stood still for a good 10 minutes saying how much he was going to kill Palps, without actually doing so Quote
simonjedi Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 It's more less exactly what Luke would have done as well (See Bespin). Yeah but Luke was young and wasn't a Jedi master at that point. Mace is and significantly older and more experience. Anakin had been their spy on Palpatine for a bit of time, they had been suspicious of him, and I doubt they would just ignore him. Again PT jedi are morons. Anakin shouldn't have been given it and the Jedi didn't suspect Palpatine of being a Sith at that time. They didn't like his policies and were looking for the Sith. Mace even admits that it's dangerousbut still continues. There is also no REAL reason for Obi wan go to Utapau alone either. Quote

Artanis I Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Keeping in mind that Mace Windu et al weren't just barging into the Chancellor's office to kill him for being a Sith Lord, they were going there to escort him to the senate to relinquish his "emergency powers" (that continue well past the compulsory end-of-term - a la dictatorship) because the war was now over with the deaths of Separatist leader Dooku & droid commander Grievous. The idea that he wasn't going to go quietly due to possibly being a sith was what turned it from "time to hang up yer boots mate" to "you are under arrest", which in turn was met with "it's treason, then" & "nyo, nyo, you will DIEEE" The line "he's too dangerous to be kept alive" was made after he'd just bumped off 3 Jedi Masters. Poison Ivy Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Hey hey hey, look what showed up on Wookieepedia: Dave Filoni's artwork of Bo-Katan with her helmet off! Seems like it's confimed that she has red hair. Quote

Yes, but I think that Legoman273 is saying that most people originally from the planet Mandalore have blonde hair, and by that logic, Clones don't count, since they were 'born' on Kamino, not Mandalore. Jango was originally from Concord Dawn. Boba was a clone of him, as were the Clone troopers. Also, note how many Mandalorian characters in TCW have blonde hair. All of them. Varying shades, perhaps, but blonde nonetheless. In other news Red Letter media (of Mr. Plinkett fame) have released some new videos to celebrate the release of TPM3D. A digitally remastered version of his review of TPM and a plinkett audio commentary EDIT: NSFW and not for the easily offended. Edited February 10, 2012 by simonjedi Quote

Fallenangel Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Start? And I speak as one of the foremost advocates of the Original Trilogy. This isn't an issue the staff would like us discussing, as it's led to some ugly and very discourteous flame wars in the past. Quote
Batbrick Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Trying to say either is better on political basis is nonsense. I'm not even taking sides here in this argument, I'm just saying that the politics of both OT and PT are archetypal for the former and so not politically deep at all, and lucicrously overwrought in the latter and so also not really relevant. If these were political films that had some basis in reality or allegory as the main selling point then he could have an argument, but Star Wars has never been politically deep even when it attempted to do so. Its like arguing between Mad Men and The Wire based purely upon rollercoaster entertainment value. Batbrick Away! Quote

RileyC Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I watched TPM 3D today. 3D doesn't make much difference to the film. While the pod racer scene was cool in 3D, throughout it I was just thinking what's the point? It doesn't add anything to the movie and looks just the same as a film that hasn't been shot in 3D. It's just tacky. But I was so happy they got rid of the crappy yoda puppet in TPM! I hated that old puppet it was so horrible... While animated yoda won't ever be as good as the ESB yoda, it's nice to get some continuity with his appearance in the PT. However I was thinking about how bad most of the CG looked. And that got me thinking, the OT with it's models and puppets looked way better than it. Does anyone else share this opinion? Quote
