Mr Man Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Something that I have been wondering about: Why haven't we heard any Clones (in TCW) say "Look Sir, Droids."? It's a rather famous line, and when they (the Clones) are fighting Droids, there would be an occasion to say it. Because Rex would slap them for pointing out the bloody obvious . Quote

LEGOman273 Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 And here I was thinking the famous line was "It's a trap!"... It was. In RotJ Admiral Ackbar said "It's a trap!". In TCW Captain Ackbar (same character, earlier time) said "It's an attack!". My point was that characters in TCW state the obvious at times as an homage to the original films. Thus, that "Look Sir, Droids." would not be out of the question. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Yes, absolutely anything dumb should be do-able in The Clone Wars. There are plenty of examples, but a standout one is Battle Droids taking a work break. If Battle Droids can loll about on break, Clones could say 'look sir, droids.' It would actually sound like an intelligent idea from the CW writers by comparison. Quote
SheepEater Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Hi! Sorry if I don't feel like reading every page in the thread, but what is the best option to watch the ORIGINAL 1977, 1980 and 1982 versions of the trilogy? Have they ever been released on DVD? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Hi! Sorry if I don't feel like reading every page in the thread, but what is the best option to watch the ORIGINAL 1977, 1980 and 1982 versions of the trilogy? Have they ever been released on DVD? I know they were released at least once on DVD, apparently as individual releases, but I got mine at WalMart packaged with their respective graphic novels. According to Wookieepedia that was in '06. Wookieepedia says they were reboxed in '08, but I can't find any info on that. The video quality is pretty bad, though. Wookieepedia says that that's because the video was sourced from the '93 LaserDisc releases. Still nice to watch, however; the video looks acceptable on my 13" laptop. Quote
SheepEater Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 So, the only way to get the original versions (Han Shot First!) is when they're packaged with the revised versions? Quote

Wookieepedia doesn't have anything on that. Since you say it was packaged with the '08 releases (I actually think there was no change to those releases from the '04 Special Edition), I wonder if that's the repackaged set from '08 that Wookieepedia mentions. I wonder why they had it recently... Quote

Actually, now that I think about it, the '08 ones might have had the original versions with them too, and with this they were just boxed into one set. Quote
SheepEater Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Am I the first person to feel that way: I have a problem with Return of the Jedi. Darth Vader is hardly evil in it. He officially becomes good when he kills the emperor, but I'd argue it's way sooner than that. Compare the Vader of Empire Strikes Back to the Vader of ROTJ. Name a single evil action that he does in ROTJ (Taunting Luke hardly counts). Thoughts? Quote

I think people are more concerned with worse issues, eg Ewoks, Luke+Leia being revealed as siblings after that kiss & Yoda's repeated "Luke!"..."Luke!" ... or distracted by slave Leia Good point, especially when we often hear about him being "the ultimate villain", he's just too chilled-out in that movie. SheepEater Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 (edited) BRILLIANT! I recognized every character except the guy with blonde emo haircut on the bottom right of the stormtrooper/vader/boba fett picture, and the punk guy next to Lando. They all look like they are straight out of a 80s teen movie! Edited August 16, 2012 by SheepEater Quote

The guy under the stormtrooper is DV without his helmet and the Punk next to Lando is Greedo Good find KDM, these are really well done and quite funny The Chewbacca picture looks a bit like John Candy in Space Balls. SheepEater Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 (edited) The Chewbacca picture looks a bit like John Candy in Space Balls. Considering the John Candy character was based on Chewie, ... yeah. Ditto for teenager Leia looking like princess Vespa from Spaceballs. Luke looks like Marty McFly  Yoda as physical educatiom teacher.. brilliant. I wonder what subjects are Obi-Wan and Tarkin teachers of. Edited August 16, 2012 by SheepEater Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Good find KDM, these are really well done and quite funny Just happened to chance upon it on another site I was visiting, I found it entertaining so I had to share it here. Luke looks like Marty McFly  Yoda as physical educatiom teacher.. brilliant. Well, Luke and Marty do have similar young boyish looks and small built/height, and I'd assume the artist was also a fan of BTTF hence the resemblance of both protagonists. And that Yoda reminds me of: Heck, they even have the same "carry-me-on-your-back" teaching styles! Quote
Oky Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 Being a fan of SW crossovers and BTTF, I approve of this! Loving all the hairdos and Leia's headphones. And yeah, Yoda as a gym teacher is a nice touch. Obi Wan probably teaches either philosophy or biology (midi-chlorians anyone?). Luke's resemblance to Marty McFly becomes even more shocking when you consider the whole kissing-your-mother/sister thing. Nice find, Kiel! Quote
Masked Builder Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Those are quite interesting Kiel, nice find. Quote
Flipz Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 That...that was awesome. ^_^ My only complaint is: where's Mara Jade? Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Star Wars Speederbike rides into reality A California-based company has taken a science fiction design similar in concept to “Star Wars” speeder bikes, which uses helicopter dynamics to lift and propel this motorcycle-sized vehicle across rough terrain. The firm Aerofex has fixed the stability issue by including a control bar at the the users knee level that allows the pilot to better lean and balance the vehicle. "It essentially captures the translations between the two in three axis (pitch, roll and yaw), and activates the aerodynamic controls required to counter the movement — which lines the vehicle back up with the pilot," De Roche told InnovationNewsDaily. "Since [the pilot's] balancing movements are instinctive and constant, it plays out quite effortlessly to him." The vehicle has been tested in California’s Mojave Desert and in more crowded conditions. Currently, the Aerofex machine is being tested at a top speed of 30 mph and a max height of 15 feet above the ground. Quote
