The only thing I have any attachment to in the EU is the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight trilogy. If there's an episode in Rebels where the team finds the Death Star plans then I'll riot. But oh well, they'll always be canon to me!

So I've been watching a lot of the Clone Wars on Netflix. I have to say, as a strictly OT fan, it is not only miles ahead of the prequels in terms of storytelling and characters, it also elevates the prequels. I can't wait to see what the team has in store for Rebels.

I recently finished the season six Clovis arc and I have one major question for prequel fans: it appears that the Galactic Banking Clan funds both sides of the war... How does that work? How does that make any sense? Most of my problems with the show stem from its source material, but I don't remember this plot point being in AOTC or ROTS so I can't blame Lucas... There has to be something I'm missing. Am I the only one who thinks this is totally nonsensical?

As far as I can tell the Muuns are officially neutral and both sides need the money too much to object to the other side being financed. The Muuns seem to be the only financial supplier around, and the system (though workable) seems to be hugely corruptible, leading to how popular the idea of the Empire would be to the general populous.

I don't like how the series really focuses so much on singular planets and events. This is a whole galaxy and from the looks of it barely anything matters outside of the episodes.

One finance point? Freakin' a whole galaxy that seems ridiculous.

A whole planet under siege? Lets fight within a small tiny area in a few blocks of a city. Beat them. Whole planet is saved (wat).

Star Wars has a way of making the whole galaxy seem small and insignificant. At least in the original trilogy it kind of made sense since there was only ONE Death Star and Empire Strikes back was largely just about a small event in a larger galaxy.

The Prequels are... ridiculous. Did you know Naboo has a human population of over a billion? Over 4 billion when including Gungans. Are we to believe it took a handful of people to retake the whole planet? That droid force was pathetic in size. Why didn't the other freakin' billion people just wipe out the droids? Are we to believe a few tanks and a couple hundred droids with the crappiest fighting abilities ever can take over 4.5 billion humans and gungans?

The Prequels completely LOSE the aspect of size. Everything is small.

The TV series does the exact same thing. Planet of billions? Lets sum up this plot within two city blocks and a couple dozen soldiers and droids.

It's bad.

I see what you're saying and I agree with you to a point. The prequels are really guilty of this and it's inexcusable. But the TV show only has 20 minutes (or around an hour if it's an arc) to establish a problem on a planet, do some fun character stuff, have some twists and turns, and resolve it. There isn't time to think about the larger scale unfortunately.

Rebels is just about a band of heroes traveling from planet to planet fighting the Empire, so it won't be an issue there unless we see some major Rebel uprisings-then it will probably fall into the same trapping Clone Wars did.

I like the first one. It looks more futuristic, a logical evolution of the Stormie helmet. Maybe a little more smoothed out than I'd like, but it looks pretty good.

The second one...I think it's way too clean. I can see where they're going with it, drawing upon the shape of the Snowie helmet, but it just doesn't look like Star Wars to me. Especially that eye slit.

I rather like Solo's new look. The Stormtrooper helmet is nice, but I really don't know why it needed changed.

As for Rebels? I'll give it a chance. It doesn't sound too promising, but it looks worth looking at.

Hmmm? I just noticed something really strange with those pics of the Episode VII Millennium Falcon. There is glass in the cockpit windows sitting in front of a green screen? That is highly out of the ordinary for a shooting set or film production miniature. They normally leave the glass out to avoid any hard to control reflections, and then if needed insert glass in post production. Especially for interior detail sets. The only MF shooting set or model that actually had glass in the OT was the Hoth hanger partial exterior mock up.

The Stormtrooper helmet is nice, but I really don't know why it needed changed.

Multiple reasons, I presume. The empire is wiped out and I would assume that the Stormtroopers were mostly destroyed. Whoever is heading the new rise of the empire maybe wanted to resurrect them but not exactly the same as before. These helmets pay a little homage to the past while keeping it fresh. Also (hopefully this analogy isn't offensive) if the nazis came back today in modern times, I doubt they'd have the same look as they did during WW2. Plus it'd be a little boring to see the Stormtroopers look exactly the same as they did in the OT.

Personally, I'm sort of wondering why they look so similar. If I was picking up the pieces of a fallen empire, I would change things up quite a bit. A new threat needs a new face. Although the reemergence of the Stormtroopers would probably be quite terrifying for the Republic, so maybe they're staying similar to instill fear. Or maybe I'm over analyzing things.
