Fives Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I like the look of the villain. I also think the idea of him having an eerie fascination with Vader is another cool link to the OT. But the thing that catches my eye most is how most sources that have shared the image and info seem to all say that these Sith Inquisitors have been around a lot longer than we know, and how that will be a big deal once revealed in the movie. All I know is that with this many leaks, there's a bunch of people likely getting fired this week. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I like everything I see there. Ford's new look is cool, as are the new Stormie helmets. I'd probably need another pic of the villain to get a good sense of whether or not I like him. It looks good so far, though! Quote
Jedi-Bendu Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Rumor: "Yeah, you guessed it the beloved Mon Calamari of the planet Dac will be gracing our screens in Episode VII and not just in a background role. Just like their appearance in Return of the Jedi, at least one Mon Cal will be front and centre in a leading character role." The Mon Cal bit is accurate. We have heard the character is none other than Admiral Ackbar himself. Multiple sources once again have said that a really great Admiral Ackbar head was constructed and it looks identical to the guy in Return of the Jedi. We had also heard that the Skellig land is the only part on the planet that is habitable for Luke Skywalker. If true, it appears Luke is hiding out there, until his new apprentice comes to find him. I just spoke to the source that brought me a lot of information we have seen leaked in the last twenty four hours. I have decided to let the source tell us about the costume in their own words to better accurately describe the piece: Daisy Ridley’s costume: The details are very general but the costume gives the idea that this character might be more comfortable in a seedy spaceport than at a gala event. The artwork shows a slender brunette figure wearing clothing with a grey and brown palette. She wears a dark blue sash at the waist that hangs down at the back and one side at about thigh level. Her shirt arms have a few utilitarian looking straps attached and it covers both midriff and chest completely. She may wear gloves and have “star wars” type wraps on the forearms. She wears a few pouches and belts. A lightsaber is clasped in her hand… As always, these things can change or not be accurate. This is based off concept art. Like everything that has leaked in the last 24 hours, concept art can change. It doesn’t mean it was what was chosen. But this source was who brought me a lot of the information we’ve in the last 24 hours originally, so I see no reason to not take is seriously. I imagine this stuff will be leaking in the coming weeks. Quote
Ultron Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I like the look of the villain. I also think the idea of him having an eerie fascination with Vader is another cool link to the OT. But how did he get Vaders Helmet? It was burned on Endor, this guy would've had to an retrieve it from there right after their celebration. Unless there were multiple helmets that weren't on the Deathstar or the Super Star Destroyer... Quote
Darth Punk Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 But how did he get Vaders Helmet? It was burned on Endor, this guy would've had to an retrieve it from there right after their celebration. Unless there were multiple helmets that weren't on the Deathstar or the Super Star Destroyer... Probably wouldn't be that hard to find someone who could replicate a helmet to look like Vaders. Maybe even the person who made it to begin with. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 But how did he get Vaders Helmet? It was burned on Endor, this guy would've had to an retrieve it from there right after their celebration. Unless there were multiple helmets that weren't on the Deathstar or the Super Star Destroyer... Fingers crossed that this doesn't turn into the series with the surviving glove of Darth Vader*. *Not to mention the whalers, the three-eyed son of Palpatine, the order of Dark Side prophets, Lando's holographic amusement park, and more! (Do not read. Cannot stress this enough. ) Quote
Fives Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I bet Vader's suit was treated much like Grievous's body. There were lots of multiples to account for times when they would sustain damage. Quote
General Magma Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) According to the writer of this article, most (if not all) of the rumors have been false so far, including the Inquisitors, and there is also something he has to say about the concept art that has been going around for a few days now: http://thisisinfamou...mor-parade-but/ No word on the hand-in-space thing, however. Fives Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Hmmm... while I feel like a dingus for believing a lot of the rumours, I'm not surprised many of them are false. Part of me almost believes that Abrams could perhaps be feeding false rumours to keep people of the scent of actual facts about the film. But thats just a funny thought. It seems to me that whoever this person is claiming these rumours to be false isn't necessarily debunking everything outright. He's more just saying that everything we've heard has equal potential to both be or not be part of the film, with the exceptions of the casting of Billie Lourd and the inclusion of Inquisitors. There are also a few other rumours that he didn't touch on, which I found surprising. http://makingstarwars.net/2014/08/star-wars-episode-vii-rumors-post-endor-ewoks-dooku-connection-leia-hutts-lucas-vision/ Again, these are all just rumours and could easily be Bantha crap like the rest, but some of it is just interesting to think about. tonif430 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 They have restarted to shot/produce the film after Ford's injury!!! Quote
Oky Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 Hehe, this is pretty cool. This confirms the MF for Ep.VII, and considering we only see the right side as well as some grassy hills in the background, it also means that those aerial from a few days ago were real. Looks like we can expect some X-Wings as well. Also, Anthony Daniels confirmed that C-3PO will be a practical suit, not CG. Aside from some of the whacky stuff he did in Ep.II, I didn't mind CG-3PO, but I'm sure this will make a lot of people happy. Not much news, but it's at least something. Quote

Daimar Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 0:32 seconds, why is there Batmans Tumbler? Thats one strange easter-egg, even for J.J. Abrams. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 0:32 seconds, why is there Batmans Tumbler? Thats one strange easter-egg, even for J.J. Abrams. It could just be highlighting the fact that they're using bits of models and practical ordinary items to make the props and studio models; for example, you can see what appears to be painted PVC piping leading into the pit as the camera pans in to show the Tumbler. I agree, it's a little odd to use the whole thing and focus on it, but we've all heard of the famous whole action figure near the Executor's engine block. Quote

Im a brickmaster. Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 That actually looks like a Z-95 headhunter, not an X-wing. Why would the tumbler be in Star Wars? Seems like and odd choice for and Easter egg... Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 That's a response to this Indeed. It's actually been an ongoing banter over Twitter. Fill yourselves in here: http://io9.com/j-j-abrams-reveals-his-millennium-falcon-calls-batmob-1636418918 Quote
The Legonater Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 That actually looks like a Z-95 headhunter, not an X-wing. Hmm, you're right. I realize Headhunters where in TCW, but maybe this could be a sign that other EU elements will creep into the movies. Quote

Darth Punk Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I'm not saying I believe Disney is going to release the blu rays but I find that article greatly lacking. Those arguments get used all the time and it's basically using one rumor to discount another. Lucas supposedly said those things long before he sold his company, another thing I'm sure he said he would never do. But $4 billion dollars can do a great deal to change never. Plus the simple idea that two companies are required to release the blu ray is hardly a major obstacle since both would benefit. Neither side benefits by not releasing and it's hardly a new concept in Hollywood for movies requiring more than one party to be released. If someone is going to refute this rumor they need to come up with some more compelling reasons beside just saying it's not true because they don't believe it. Quote

I'd like to turn it around: if someone is saying the rumor (of the OT getting a BR release in it's original form)is true, I need proof. Also, what are the original versions? Take the first Star Wars for instance: is the 1977 theatrical version (which doesnt have 'Episode IV A New Hope' in the crawl for instance) the real original version? Or do we want the 1981 version (with Episode IV in the crawl and other changes)....or the 1980 version (with alternate C-3PO lines)....or the 1993 version....or.....? http://www.thegeektwins.com/2011/09/want-to-see-full-list-of-changes-to.html#.VCmO7Bah6ZT Edited September 29, 2014 by Jedi-Bendu Quote
Darth Punk Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I don't disagree, I would love nothing more to have something concrete either way. I am certainly open to discussing said rumors. As for the original versions I really think its on a case by case basis. In general I find corrections to picture quality, color, resolution, film speed, etc as well as sound to be well within the realm of acceptable change. As these changes often occur due to change of video format. And it's not unusual for minor tweets to be made from the screen to video. These changes don't alter the storyline and often correct mistakes that were missed or correctable due to change in technology. I, like most people are more interested to changes to scenes such as Han shooting first, the addition of background creatures, and the changing of characters in a scene. I don't plan to,list every one but you get the general idea. Quote
Jedi-Bendu Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I don't disagree, I would love nothing more to have something concrete either way. I am certainly open to discussing said rumors. Sure thing releasing a 'pre-special edition version of the OT' (let's call it this due to the various original versions ;) ) would be very profitable. Still, there must be a reason why they still aren't here.....+-2 years after the Disney deal. Maybe it's part of the Lucas/Disney deal; that Lucas sold everything to Disney but they had to promise to never release the old version? ;) It would be great to have them on BR, but until then I'll pop in the LaserDisc (or the limited DVD from 2006) when I want to see an unaltered version.
