SteampunkDoc Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Oh dear, just had a nostalgia overload. Played the first two games quite a bit growing up, and this looks like a worthy sequel. Won't buy it, seeing as I don't have a console, but I'm sure a friend or two will get it sooner or later. Although I have to wonder about the RotJ Luke showing up on Hoth. Quote
Nom Carver Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 THANK YOU MY FRIEND, I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT IT, THIS LOOKS A LOT MORE PROMISING. Quote
grevens Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Oh my....... I didn't dare think it would looks so good, but now I know that I HAVE TO buy this game :o Will be a damn expensive fall / winter with this coming out, cinema tickets and the new TFA sets.... Quote
General Magma Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) And here's yet another gameplay video! Now I'm gonna need to decide whether to get a PS4 or a gaming computer... Edited June 16, 2015 by General Magma Quote
Oky Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 EVERYTHING IS SOLO! Christopher Miller and Phil Lord to Helm Han Solo Anthology Film Uhm... Interesting choice. Not sure if two guys who are mostly known for comedies can pull off a genuine Star Wars movie, but we'll have to wait and see. Quote
General Magma Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 (edited) That is... an interesting choice, yes. I'm a bit skeptical here, especially when they're saying "We promise to take risks", and that is not just because of the risk-taking itself (which is at times more welcome than just playing it safe) but because I don't want them to turn it into some kind of modern comedy thing or something unfaithful to Star Wars... At least, I hope it will not resemble things like "21 Jump Street" in even the slightest. And at least they're pledging to be "faithful stewards". I'm also fine with the fact that they're especially making movies and content centered around these beloved characters... for now. Eventually, they're gonna have to invent new characters for these stand-alone films (I'm personally hoping for some Old Republic stuff once the sequel trilogy is done), without continuously leaning on already-beloved characters and things (other than the feel & aesthetic) from the Original Trilogy. Clone OPatra Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Let's remember the Russo brothers, who before directing Winter Soldier had only directed episodes of sitcoms and a couple comedies. Look how they turned out. Quote
Robianco Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I think having Kasdan onboard is a big plus too. I've always thought Josh Hartnett would make a good Solo but who knows what kind of time period they'll focus on. Quote
Jedi-Bendu Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 imho it would be ridiculous to set the movie shortly before, during or after the OT; in that time period ONLY Ford can play Solo. Best would be if the movie takes place years before ANH, and imho there is only one actor who is perfect for the job: Anthony Ingruber. He looks like Ford so much.....they even cast him to play a younger version of Ford's character in 'Age of Adalind'. http://www.thewrap.com/han-solo-search-watch-anthony-ingruber-play-harrison-ford-again-with-star-wars-impression-video/ I first noticed his videos over a year ago (before he was cast as a younger Ford) and I was instantly convinced. I really, REALLY hate it when parts are re-cast (especially the iconic ones) but Ingruber has my blessing. Quote

As an actor, you need to be able to stand on your own with lines and scenarios that have never been covered by the previous actor before - and we don't know if he would be able to do that very well at this point. He did a great job in Age of Adaline....playing a young Ford. So, we do know. Quote

I understand where you're coming from, but it's worked out well for the franchise in the past. Ewan McGregor knocked it out of the park as Obi-Wan. Quote
montgocloud Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 New behind the scenes footage from SDCC for Episode VII! I couldn't be more excited. If it can have even the smallest fraction of the impact that the OT had on me, I will be wholly satisfied. Quote
General Magma Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 That was fantastic. I just love seeing the way they're using so many practical effects, too, even though they keep saying that... oh well. This is bound to have a great feel of its own while maintaining that of the OT, and I'm very glad they're pouring this amount of love and care into it. I'm just really hoping for all the upcoming Star Wars films to be the same. I already want to make customs of some of those aliens! But all in all, really great footage and I'm looking forward to the film very much. Quote
BrickG Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Battlefront looks good but I've got a few worries. 1) AT-AT is rumored to be on rails. That is a huge downgrade. We've had fully drivable AT-ATs since the Battlefield 1942 Star Wars mod at least (early 2000s). 2) No space-only stuff. I assume that'll come with an expansion or DLC though... 3) Really, Star Wars isn't about rapid fire. I know it doesn't make sense but Star Wars is about slower shots. IMO all these dudes machine gunning around doesn't look all that Star Warsy. It's more like cowboy combat rather than modern military. Quote

Well, it is battlefield with SW skins so number 3 isn't surprising. As for the AT-AT, it's not too bad, it is a vastly overpowered vehicle that the Rebels have no real counter to, you either put it on rails or gimp the weapons (as the did in the last two games). GallardoLU Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 (edited) Old Republic expansion trailer, Amazing trailer, possibly the best Star wars trailer to date. For a long time, I thought I was among the only ones who couldn't see Star Wars in it whatsoever. At least, that would be because I've never heard anyone else say it. "Any generic fantasy (or Sci-Fi) game" with a few Star Wars elements - the title and the lightsabers - integrated into it, is the way I've described it since day one. It cannot possibly be "the best Star wars trailer to date" if it doesn't even look like Star Wars in any way, save for the lightsabers. Edited July 17, 2015 by General Magma Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Apparently, Disney is in talks with Benicio del Toro, offering him the role of "THE villain" in Episode VIII: http://www.thewrap.com/star-wars-episode-viii-eyes-benicio-del-toro-to-play-villain-exclusive/ I wonder what this means for TFA... Especially for Kylo Ren, since he's the villain of Episode VII. Maybe it's like the PT, where we had one main villain acting in the background (Palpatine in the PT and now Snoke in the ST) with a different foreground villain each episode (Maul/Dooku/Grievous in the PT and Kylo Ren in TFA) Quote
