Major spoiler here, so keep your distance. But don't look like you're trying to keep your distance. I dunno, fly casual.

I know this is kind of a MAJOR SPOILER, but if anyone wants to see what Luke might look like in TFA, click the link.

Personally, I'm very surprised this image has even surfaced.

I know this thread is for discussing the movie, but can we talk about this BB-8 toy?

It's insane :oh:

*snip*

saw these last night at a Meijer store, 150 a pop, a bit pricy but I think it may be worth it. they had a display model being driven around I was quite impressed and may have to pick one up after I convince my wife I should buy it :P

Give me a break. Is this... thing going to be sold in a store for cash ? oO

lol, yup 149.99 USD and reportedly 169,90€ or you can buy the Hasbro version.... for 80.00 USD (target exclusive here) which has no extra features and is mostly reported as a waist of money.

I know, right?

When I saw it I was like No way....

But then I realized it was real

Welcome to the future, folks!

may have to pick one up after I convince my wife I should buy it :P

That sounds like a plot for Mission: Impossible 6

Good luck with that

well apparently I'm better than Tom Cruise  , took all of 5 min after showing her the video. i have to say this thing is loads of fun, takes some getting used to steering on manual mode though. also for those thinking about it deep carpets are a no go we have a medium carpet that it can move on but it cant stop otherwise it sinks in to low and gets caught. short hard carpets are no problem and when its travailing full speed easily climbs over power cords (on tile floor) The built in commands are great fun (there are: Yes, No, Alert, move square, move figure 8, and a few others i cant recall at the moment) the hologram feature is nifty but requires being near BB-8 in order to really see what you are looking at. Patrol mode I think i need to adjust some settings he gets going to fast to stop for walls but after he stops from the bounce effectively finds a new clear path (and follows it till he hits another object).

If you're in the British Isles then we get SW:TFA 1 day early! 1 extra day to troll the rest of the world with spoilers .

We do!? That is surprising!

Well it is filmed over here, using British cast and crew for the most part, I suppose it makes sense.

Yes, that's true, makes sense I suppose.

Has any discussion been made about how some characters names have... Alliterative qualities?

I have a theory, but if it's been discussed to death already, I won't bring it up.

well seeing as I don't know what you are referring to, I am interested in your theory. if others have discussed it I don't recall.

If you guys actually spoil things I will be very pissed. If you see it early, use spoiler tags if you absolutely have to talk about it.

Vader is Luke's father. Luke and Leia are siblings. Biggs dies. Palpatine is Darth Sidious. 3P0 was made by Anakin.

Your best option would be not to visit this page or the Lego star wars 2015 page. Just avoid those two pages until you see the movie yourself. I always do this with movies, avoid the Lego and movie pages. It's best to visit this page when you see the movie. I also agree with the spoilers, put them in spoiler tabs. I won't be visiting this page but show respect for other users on here.

Spoiler tags because my hunch might bother people.

On the subject of family names in Star Wars, what if Abrams' statement about the Knights of Ren is a red herring?

The use of alliterative names isn't uncommon in SW, so what if something simpler is the answer?

We all know that Padme had twins named and named them Luke and Leia.

What if twins run in the family?

How about Rey and Ren Solo

Kylo Ren sounds like something some kid might change their name to when running away from home if their name was Ren Solo. Kylo, Solo?

Not just that, but Ren and Han, and Rey and Leia? They don't rhyme exactly, but they're pretty close.

O I will be! I'll basically be avoiding the entire internet

interesting theory, but I don't think it would be that simple. for one I don't recall anyone taking on a new name but keeping a signature part of their old name (Ren) I may be persuaded to believe Kylo is related but if so his name wont resemble his original name. we do know that some one related to Luke has a force connection (trained we do not know yet) we also know that a Finn is seen wielded a saber presumably the one Luke gives the unrevealed person in the first teaser. there is also quite a lot of merchandise displays showing Finn as the only other saber user from Kylo.

Rey and Kylo are the only two I'm expecting to have a family connection to the Skywalker family. Rey I expect to be strong force user but only uses the staff when needed and prefers to avoid conflict. Kylo I'm going to guess "IF" related will be her brother and opposite, taking to fighting easily and by extension the dark side. which could explain why he wants the saber we see Finn wielding it belongs to his family and was lost to him at some point (after Luke gave it to him)

I just figure we know JJ Abrams is more than willing to lie about characters... Nah, Cumberbatch isn't playing Khan... and it's a nice simple explanation. Occam's Razor and all that.

Plus, what we know about apples and relative distance from their trees, the idea of AnaVader being Kylo's Grandpappy? Wanting to know why your parent's won't tell you about a family member doesn't require a stretch of the imagination. Could lead a kid to go searching for the truth, yes? If the character hero worships Vader, as rumors suggest this theory would fit right into that.
