XimenaPaulina Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 (edited) Interesting news. I'm personally excited if ever this project pushes through, no matter what timeline this trilogy falls into. We all couldn't just get enough of the SW movies right? I wouldn't mind if they dabble into the EU storyline, this would be the perfect chance for those who are completely unaware of what transpired EU (like me) to finally know the stories behind it. And on the other end of the spectrum, if ever Lucas does the story gazillion years ABY, there should be at least some sort of connection to the OT/PT movies, no matter how long the gap between these eras would be. It just wouldn't feel Star Wars-ish if it's completely new and without any references to the OT/PT. I don't know how they will pull this off, but I just do hope this will be for the good of the SW franchise and not the other way around. To be honest, I dont care if he breaks the EU timeline. The Star Wars universe has every little gap filled in with something some one has written. He also cant just rehash the Thrawn Trilogy either, that's just not right. I look at the universe this way, I look at the movies first and foremost, then the other project (CW, Holiday), then the video games (Jedi Knight, Force Unleashed etc) and then finally all the books and comics. This way the books can be seen as extras not necessities to the Saga. It fills in the gaps that someone else thought that need filling, not George Lucas. With the amount of books, everything overlaps and sometimes things will get overlooked because when you start choosing pieces of info to include in a character like say, Aurra Sing, then you have to include all the back story to her. This can also overlap causing just a big mess. This is why I dont really care for EU that much. I agree. With all due respect to EU fans, but I think the normal SW fan (like me and Ronconator) doesn't really care much about EU stuff since they are just add-ons to the primary and more significant movies and the CW series. That's why if ever Lucas decides to use the EU stories for this rumored trilogy, then this would be the perfect chance for the EU to 'shine' and come out of discrimination. And whatever Lucas does with EU, whether he keeps true to the storyline or blatantly breaks it, we just have to live with it and hope everything will turn out right in the end. DarthSion Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I hope Lucas in is good health then, 2015 would make him 71 years old, He must be crazy to want to make movies at that age. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Well there was the mention of the possibility of going up to 1000 years into the future after AnH, which would relieve it of any timeline issues, but it would mean no ISDs, no 'normal' X-wings, probably no MF, and certainly none of the original heroes. Then again, there are very, very few characters and ships that are in the same state throughout the existing trilogies. Quote

At least with the Prequels they had a basis for ships and where characters were going in the story. Im just hoping they will keep C3PO and R2 D2 in there so they are still in every movie. Quote

Masked Builder Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 They had better be good. But It will be interesting to see them though. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 They had better be good. But It will be interesting to see them though. I think they'll be good; what remains to be seen is if they'll be on par with the original movies. Quote
DarthSion Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Well as a real fan of star wars I will like them, just like I like everything else star wars related. Quote

Yeah and people will come out and support this movie no matter what I think. If people do dislike it, Lucas cant exactly back away from an unfinished trilogy cause that wouldn't be the wisest move ever. Quote
sok117 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 The article said that the Vader story has been told, and that if there is a new trilogy, it will be a completely different story from anything Skywalker. Maybe little references here and there. Quote
prateek Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 The problem with making a new movie about EU is that everything has already been put forward via comics. IMO, only some of the comics are good. Most are too emotional or too grim to become a SW movie. Quote
DarthSion Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I still find it hard to see him doing 3 movies in his 70s, I mean what happens if he dies during the series, who takes over. Given he said the Skywalker story is over, then hopefully it won't be past episode 6. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Just realized something: In the 3D version of AnH, will Han or Greedo shoot first? Quote
DarthSion Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I hope the mods ban any OT losers who starts up the crap. Quote

CF Mitch Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Hahahaha, that's hilarious I loved the one from General Veers. When Vader said something like "I'm gonna force choke you all at work tomorrow [...] never mind, I think I can just do it from here" And then Tarkin at the end "ROFL" xD Regards, CF W Quote
