samthelegoman1 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 I really need to get to TRU rite away! Quote
daxflame680 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Not likely. You'd least expect TRU to have them that fast. Sky high prices, terrible employees, extremely behind on new items, that's TRU. Quote
Matteo Kenobi Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Wow this is great, I wasn't expecthing this for a while. I live in St. Louis MO so hopefully they have sweeped this side of the nation =] So they didn't have the new Imperial fort, or was it just not in stock? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 15, 2008 Governor Posted November 15, 2008 Hi Card, thank you for sharing those prices! It's great you've decided to emerge from obscurity to share useful information with us. I've made a slight edit to your post to space the information out a little more. Quote
Nich Artri Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Hey hey! Denver, eh! Only 300 miles away! Maybe they'll have them online... Quote
JimBee Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Great news, thanks for sharing! I'll have to check this out. However, I'm going to wait until after the holidays to snag some of these, just to see how everything turns out. Quote
The Pirate Shack Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Woohoo, someone on flickr also posted that there are impulse sets (and those alone) at TRU in Cary, North Carolina. I live in New York and I may check it out tomorrow. Exciting news! Arrrrr Quote

Sky high prices, terrible employees, extremely behind on new items, that's TRU. Not sure where you live, but around me, TRU is always the place that gets next year's stuff first (compared with Target, Wal Mart, etc.) Prices can be bad (I saw Star Wars battle packs for $14.99 -- a 50% markup from S@H prices), but I found the Indiana Jones and Exo Force stuff there first. Thanks for the heads up, TC, now I know what I'll be doing tomorrow morning. I'm not getting my hopes up, but an overgrown boy can dream. Quote
hollisbrick Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Hey hey! Denver, eh! Only 300 miles away! Maybe they'll have them online... Yeh well dont feel tooobad, it's half away around the world for me Quote
Guss Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 disgusting... not only that I don't live in america, but there is no toys R us where I live :/ Quote
Capt. Bluebeard Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 disgusting... not only that I don't live in america, but there is no toys R us where I live :/ It wouldn't make a difference anyway. We in the UK have TRU's and, as far as I know, the new sets aren't there. Bluebeard, out- Quote

Bluebeard, out- I'm going to have a look at my nearest TRU between 12th December and 19th, unless otherwise notified. I think I found 2008 sets on 15th December at TRU Uk last year. (I found the MM Mobile Mining Unit and Indiana Jones Well of Souls set to be exact) Edited November 15, 2008 by The Rancor Quote

ZCerberus Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 I can confirm these sets have also made it to the Minnesota twin cities metro as well. I went to three TRUs last night and two had two of the four sets mentioned on the front page. Cannon battle for 5.99 seems like a steal to me for two figs and a cannon- still no imperial fort, ship or impulse though. I have also noticed at TRU (on the over pricing thing) they often release sets at the MSRP then rise the price if it sells well. Just a thought, might want to get them early before the price goes up 3 or 4 bucks! Quote
Wout Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 (edited) Thank you for the nice pics, Sir Nadroj. I see you also had 3 impulsesets which are a good addition for this set. Thanks for these pictures, especially of the governor fig! Has he got a two-sided head? I think Sir Nadroj has taken the face of the bearded pirate and put it on the govenors torso. @ Legomilk: Do you mean that you want a number on the instruction book? And on which page the number is placed? Is this number a method to search the instructions already on the secret legofiles? Edited November 15, 2008 by Wout Quote
General Magma Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 (edited) Wow..they look, and ARE, great! I might get them all for my birthday. When I saw this I kicked the 10188 Death Star OUT of the way, cause if I bought the Death Star I knew I wouldn't be able to also get the Pirate sets! By the way, Shipwreck Hideout comes with a Skeleton-Pirate minifig! That's so awesome! Sadly none of the sets come with a big blue baseplate to use it as water.. card Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 (edited) Thanks for the warm welcome, nice to see a friendly community. To answer a question above, no there were no signs or spaces for the Fort, Boat or Impulse sets. And I agree with ZCerberus, TRU does seem to raise its prices after an initial release. Maybe these are a promotion, sort of like the Target "exclusives" that go mass retail after the holidays. I could definatly see shipwreck island being that, as it does say limited edition on the box like the Dwarves mine did last year. Edited November 15, 2008 by card Quote
The Pirate Shack Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Update: They did NOT have any sets at TRU near Roosevelt Field in Nassau County, Long Island, New York I find this bizarre since this is a huge market, right next to New York City and a shopping Mecca for many in the NY/NJ/Conn area. I checked all over the store (which was packed), and there were none. I don't think they sold out because there were not even spaces on the shelves for them. The store did have an over abundance of Star Wars Lego stuff, but no pirates. Quote
NewRight Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 I managed to snag some of the last Pirate impulses. I had to wrestle a kid for it shiver me timbers. (Just Kidding) Quote
Trexxen Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 (edited) I just called my local TRU; they HAVE THEM! My mom's going to drop by there and pick some up; when she calls me and lets me know what they have I'll edit this post =D ~Trexxen Quick Edit - Haven't gotten them yet, but decided to let people know where I'm at - I'm in Knoxville. Person below me - Nashville, TN? Really? =D Real Edit - Shipwreck. Hideout. That is all. =D (They had Loot Island and Kraken Attackin, but I didn't want KA and LI had been reviewed - I only had $10 to spend, but I traded my allowance for the year to be the first on EB with the hideout =D) Edited November 15, 2008 by Trexxen Quote
Tinn-man Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 I just checked on brickset, and someone said that they have the at the TRU in nashville. I'll have to go check tommorrow. I'm so excited :pir-cry_happy: Quote
General Armendariz Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 (edited) I just got this set yesterday and i finished building it! I will have pics soon! The pirate ship is here! Pictures now in! Edited November 17, 2008 by SlyOwl Quote
