I live in Europe and there's nothing to see here yet. I think the pirates sets will come out in Europe early Januari.

Although, we can buy them from Ebay but even the S@H and Toy's'Rus haven't any pirate sets. Of course Januari is coming close, but for me it can't go fast enough. :pir_laugh2:

I just NEED some Pirates to spend Christmas present money on!

(The money used for buying me presents, not what I get as cash)

I suppose I've still got this week and next week to look in my local TRU for Lego sets.

Early releases in the UK weren't out at this date last year. (I found some around the 15th of December in 2007)

PLEASE TLG! Give us some Pirates so I can fill ye coffers with pure buried gold :jollyroger:

Hey everyone,

do we already have the euro prices for the new pirate sets? If so, could the link to them be posted?

After answering this thread may be closed :pir-wink:

TT

I don't have yet the european shop@home prices, but I believe that would be these:

6239 5,99

6240 9,99

6241 19,99

6242 49,99

6243 89,99 or 99,99

Posted

I know the BB will be about 94,99 - 99,99.

The Soldier's fort will be about 49,99-54,99.

Shipwreck Island is 39,99.

I've based those data on the American Dollar and Euro course difference so I can only give some directions, I can't say what the prices exactly are going to be.

Change the $ sign with a € sign, add 10% to 20% and you're pretty close. Only the impulse sets might be 3€. TLG still doesn't use the actual exchange rate (or they're mixing up $ and € values).

I think you should deduct 10% to 20% from the dollar prices instead of adding 10% to 20% because the euro is more worth then a dollar.

Deduct 10% - 20% of the dollar price and replace the $ with a € and you're done.

I hope that will help as well. :pir-blush:

Dear fluyt,

the exchange rates and price differences seem to have changed a bit for 2009.

some of the new 2009 city sets reflect a pre tax exchange rate (US prices are without VAT, Euro prices with VAT on S@H) of 1,35 US dollar per 1 Euro.

The actual cost per brick for 2009 sets has gone up about 30% in the US in this new price range compared to 2008 prices.

In the Euro area the price per brick seems to be stable when compared to 2008.

Therefore, we might get a slightly better deal than what we would normally anticipate from US prices.

Than again, Lego pricing is always a king of Enigma. :pir-tongue:

Kind regards,

Teddy

Really?, TLG finally learning?, that's great to hear :pir-grin:

Thanks for the info .

Yes I know the euro is worth more than the dollar, and it has been for a long time. But TLG seemed to think the dollar was worth more, so I asumed they still used wrong exchange rates (it used to be that a set in $'s could be twice as cheap as a set in €'s, like the TRU exclusive indy plane). Luckily they've seemed to change to more accurate exhange rates :pir-sweet:.

I expect Pirates should be out very soon (hopefully in January)

Perhaps these might be the Uk prices (as it reads European in the thread title)

6239 Cannon Battle: £3.99

6240 Kraken Attackin': £6.99

6241 Loot Island: £14.99

6242 Soldiers' Fort: £39.99

6243 Brickbeard's Bounty: £69.99

6253 (I think) Shipwreck Hideout: £24.99/£29.99

Ahoy! Is it ok to start a pirate collection now with all the new sets? :pir-blush: Im sure that since they are reintroducing pirate lego's

they will continue making new pirate sets for awhile.

Well, I think you should of started collecting pirate Lego in the '80's and '90's. I think those were pretty good. But the newer pirate sets are better. So in other words, I guess you could start a pirate collection now.

Yes, they will now make pirates for the next 10 years, guaranteed, but no, you may not begin a collection.

Stop looking at me that way, I've made up my mind and I'm not changing it. You may not buy them. Ever.

*the above is meant to show the silliness of asking permission to buy something in a forum

I've got to ask, what is this thread really about? If it's to express your excitement about the new line, there are a lot of other threads for that. If it's to introduce yourself to the site, you should post a thread in the "Hello! My name is..." area.

Seriously though, welcome to EB, I just don't understand what you're trying to say here. :pir-sceptic:

And yes, we all love the new line and hope it lasts for many years to come. :jollyroger:

I agree with ImperialShadows, is there any person who don't let you collect pirate sets?

Everyone here on Classic pirates collects Lego pirate sets, including me so watch out you don't buy ALL the pirate sets first! :pir-tongue:

Financially, it's a lot better to start collecting when items are available by retail, than having to buy them at auctions and such.

LegoKing: "Should have" is correct; "should of" is a common mistake that does not make sense.

Actually, I've experienced the opposite, most of my classic pirate sets I bought 2nd hand where cheaper than they where when they where originally released (but of course misb would be more expensive), and also cheaper than sets of comparable size today (like I got all 3 of my broadside's brig for like 7 euro's or less, while a set like kraken attakin' would probably be 10 euro's, while it has less minifigs etc.).

Add to that that classic pirates sets (the full line, I think 1989-1998) are much better than the new pirate sets (well, maybe not CBC, but the rest are better, only 2 new sets I kind of like the design of are soldier's arsenal and the fort +the new minifigs are awesome).

Well I asked this because the website is " classic pirates" so I thought it meant the older pirate sets, not the newer ones. Then again, this site was created before the pirate line got reintroduced.

Silly me. :pir_laugh2:

Thank you for correcting my silly mistake Wes.

I felt that I understood your question very well - You are asking if we think that LEGO will be producing enough Pirate LEGO for the next run of years, to build a collection that's worth keeping and expanding on... right?

I guess you could begin your collection now, because LEGO know how popular the old Pirates line is, still, and they also know that a lot of adult fans still collect it.

You should also check out ebay occasionally for old pirate sets, to expand your upcoming Pirates collection.

While looking through my Jan 2009 Lego catalogue I noticed that the pirate minifig in the 6192 Lego Creator Pirate Building Set featured a minifig head I didn't recognise from any of the other new sets. This seems strange to me; printing a new head for one £7 set. We can only hope it's an indication there will be more pirate sets after January, and friendlier ones too if the Creator pirate is anything to go by :pir-blush:

One minor detail I noticed while checking to see if this new head was used in any other sets is the female pirate in the crowsnest of 6253 Shipwreck Hideout on page 6 of the catalogue is having some difficulty with her telescope. She seems to have it held up to her eyepatch! No wonder her musket isn't aimed at anything. This little embarassment also features on the front of the box!

I have a feeling that TLG comes out with sets around the holidays, and in the late spring/summer. they will definately come out with some kind of ship for the ?Red coats? (they have to!!!!!). i think they made the creator set have a differant minifig as to lure adults to buy it (which i did). I love that torso. but yes, i am currently saving money to buy the ship that comes out in the late spring/summer. they always do stuff like that, like the indiana jones sets last year!

any info on this at all would be apreciated!

I think if we were to get more sets in the summer, we would have heard by now considering we know of the summer sets for most of the themes already.

We'll probably get new Pirates in December just like last year.

Well darn it! I think the next 'wave' of pirate lego will focus more on the ?redcoats?, but they are definately cooler than the pirates!

Seaking61, it appears that you are right about the female pirate, that is very strange, just goes to show what rum can do to somenone...
