posades Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 I know I'm new here and this is going to sound ignorant, but what exactly does modular and MOC mean? Going off context clues, does modular refer to the technic pieces on the edge of the building/structure that allows you to add-on extra parts later? And is MOC simply a new creation someone has built with no printed directions? And by the way, the new Pirate sets look great, although I'm not sure if they will be a day one purchase for me. We'll see when they pop up on S@H website and go from there. I know I have quite a few older sets, is anyone planning on mixing/matching? I would think it would look a little odd, but maybe some elements may not look that out of place. Quote

Yes, "Modular" refers to the Technic pieces that let you rearrange the set in different ways without having to tear part of it up. Modular construction lets you change things easily and create new models without having to start from scratch. MOC stands for My Own Creation, and is just that...your own creation! :) Quote
whung Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 (edited) The official photos of the 2009 Pirates sets are uploaded to shop@home cache now. Although they are the same as the previous photos from a toy site, but these photos are clearer. And it seems that 2009 Pirates is coming soon. Besides Pirates, photos of 2009 sets 6191-6193 are uploaded as well. Edited November 11, 2008 by whung Quote

Mr. Crimson Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 I am so happy... I'm getting a couple of each of the impulse sets, along with cannon battle and the kraken in the mail! (3 - 10 days ) I will certainly get that fort later on, though. It looks amazing! Quote
Capt. Bluebeard Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 (edited) By the way, guys, I have to take the blame for the Pirate sets coming out in the US first. I'm one of the biggest LEGO Pirate fans ever, I was in Florida...it was just fate. TC *gasps* I knew it! Let's book 'im! Bluebeard, out- Edited November 11, 2008 by Capt. Bluebeard Quote
Thee Pirate Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Every single time I stop in here and read some more, the news gets better and better!!! I'm so glad I paid off my car, hello $300 extra a month :-p Wait... goodbye $300 a month, you're getting spent on pirates!!! Quote
Zarkan Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Well firstly I must say its really nice to see the Pirates theme back. Of the old themes no longer produced it was the only one I really missed. The modular design of the new sets, or at least the fort, is also an improvement and opens alot of possibilities in the future. I feel especially happy for the huge Pirate fans on EB, they really deserve the return of this theme for their loyalty and interest.Nice to see the crocodiles colour is now a bit more realistic. I never really fancied the green crocs, looked like the fell into paint. This ones a bit too dark but anyway there is no point nit picking too much :) Wow, calvin, I haven't seen you this optomistic since you joined the forums! Good to see that these kits are getting such a high approval rating around Eurobricks. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Seems that the torso in 6192 doesn't appear in the official Pirates sets. Gotta get one of those! Quote
The Rancor Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 *gasps* I knew it!Let's book 'im! Bluebeard, out- Maybe he should book a holiday to the Uk before Christmas! Quote
The Rancor Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 I'm still dying to know when someone in the Uk finds any Pirates... Just like everyone else in the Uk I should think! Nice cache pics whung - I reckon it is a sign that Pirates will be available everywhere soon!!! Quote
Moose Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 (edited) Awhile ago, a pirate was spotted in a Lego magazine. I just received my Jan-Feb Lego Club Magazine and on page 12, with the "Crosstown Craziness" we have more proof of the pirates coming out in 2009. On the bumper of the large green truck in the foreground is the new Pirates Logo with hearts all around it. Just thought it was worth posting Moose P.S. Along with that, on page 18 theres a troll singing the pirates song and then catches himself, saying, "whoops wrong story, nevermind." Edited November 12, 2008 by Moose Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 11, 2008 Governor Posted November 11, 2008 You got pictures? Quote
Moose Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Im not exactly sure how to post pictures on here Quote
General Armendariz Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 The big pirate ship has 592 pieces! Quote
NewRight Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) Use IMG /IMG tags to post images. Use brackets to cover the IMG tags and post the URL to the image within the two sets of brackets. Sorry if this sounds a little confusing. Maybe someone can explain better. Edited November 12, 2008 by NewRight Quote
EbonyStone Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 The easiest way is to make a Photobucket account and upload them there. They have IMG Codes on every picture you upload underneath them. Quote
halomaster96 Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) You can buy the sets on bricklink. Here is the link. Edited November 12, 2008 by halomaster96 Quote
