SlyOwl Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I'll get time to finish a space diorama properly one day... Quote
Nannan Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 The strings are the most interesting part of this diorama, but I can't tell what they're supposed to be. I like your rocket smoke technique and the hooks on the Exploriens' helmets. The parachute is a fun concept as well. Some good stuff happening here -Nannan Quote
Guss Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I love it slyowl, as Nannan said, there is a lot of nice details and part-use in it ( the parachute is great^^ ) I also love the head you used, especially the kind of scientific head with glasses and the two teeth, where does it come from ? I just wonder, what are the hands coming from one of the attackers supposed to be ? electric arc ? and for Nannan, I think that the stringed thing is supposed to be an electrical fence , something like it^^ Quote
Buttons Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I don't understand how you can be that good at MOCing. It's just beyond me! Great work Skyowl Just out of interest: How long did it take you? Quote
NewRight Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Fantastic work. Quite brilliant and hilarious. Quote
Asuka Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 A fine and detailed scenery with very interesting MF heads and indeed some really cool ideas like that energy parachute and rocket smoke. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Stunning work as usual SlyOwl! It's nice to see some space from you for a change, and you've certainly not failed! I love how you incorporated the large trans-blue bubble piece, it fit in really nicely there. You have lots of exciting action going on as well. Great MOC! Quote
pr0visorak Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 This is a very interesting Moc and is definetly an old classic Hoth By the way how do you stick those fires together? Quote
Dragonator Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Very cool, it is reminiscent of Hoth, isn't it? I like that. As usual you have used your unique style to great effect, making a very nice diorama. I particularly like the flaming spaceship and the use of string, although I don't quite get it's significance... Maybe I'm just not getting it. Anyway, very nice indeed. Quote
robbo Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Oh i love this scene....it so reminds me of 20 years ago when i use to make scenes like this of my classic space (certainly not to this quality of course). Love your sense of humour, the more i look at the photo the more i find.....great detail. Quote
CP5670 Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Excellent design. I love the classic Spyrius/Exploriens theme here. What's going on inside the base? It looks like the spiders escaped from the vat in the middle. Quote
Front Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 (edited) It's really a joy to see this. One thing that surprises me is those big blue transparent pieces in your "building". Never seen those elements before. Were they used in some space set ? Front Edited November 10, 2008 by Front Quote
CP5670 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Those were used in many of the bases in the old space themes. It's a pity they discontinued that piece, as it can be useful in many different ways. Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 That's just abso-bloody-lutely brilliant! Wonderful! I always loved those early space sets even though I never got the opportunity to get any, but seeing them like this brings warmth to my heart. Quote
SlyOwl Posted November 12, 2008 Author Posted November 12, 2008 all. The strings are the most interesting part of this diorama, but I can't tell what they're supposed to be. Some sort of electric barbed wire thing; like in WWI (or post-apoc), except electric. I also love the head you used, especially the kind of scientific head with glasses and the two teeth, where does it come from ? A couple of Racers sets. The minifig was called Barney, and was one of the group of drivers who were symbolised by an animal. He was the shark. I just wonder, what are the hands coming from one of the attackers supposed to be ? electric arc ? Yup. I don't understand how you can be that good at MOCing. It's just beyond me! Great work Skyowl Just out of interest: How long did it take you? Whoosah Skyowl? It took me a week or so to do overall, although I was building for 4 hours too long It was dark by the time I finished, so I had to photograph indoors, which explains the poor photos. By the way how do you stick those fires together? The pins on the base slot into the second indent up created by the offshoots of the flame. What's going on inside the base? It looks like the spiders escaped from the vat in the middle. It was originally intended to be a brewery (y'know all those large trans-blue cylinders in the Exploriens sets - weapons? No! Space barrels! ) The spiders were just an afterthought really, and the vat is the remnants of the brewery idea. It's really a joy to see this. One thing that surprises me is those big blue transparent pieces in your "building". Never seen those elements before. Were they used in some space set ? Yup, in various space bases and also the Mega Core Magnetizer. Quote
Zepher Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 It's really a wonderful build. It's a battle, there's no doubt of that, but as with all your works it as a certian corkiness to it that is simply wond-da-full! Keep it up. Zeph Quote
