mania3 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Don't worry, I think it will just be like Agents. I agree. I was totally lukewarm to Agents until I got them, and now they've been some of my favorite sets this year. So, I think if this does end up being like Agents, I'll be pretty pleased. Quote
Sir Dano Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Just to let anybody know who may have leaked pics but are too afraid to post them, they are free to PM me for my E-mail address and I'll post them. Also, made you guys look! Quote
M'Kyuun Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I'm keeping my expectations high. TLG has heard the clamoring for pirates for years, and IMHO, they didn't disappoint, and I was never really a fan of pirates. I am now though. I believe TLG is pretty aware of the interest in the various classic space themes, and hopefully, they'll keep the faith with the old while injecting some new life into the theme. I liked Agents from the start, and I'm glad they turned out so well; the same cheekiness in a space theme could make it a another great resurrection of a long retired theme (I don't really count Mars Mission, which was a reinvention of the Life on Mars theme, both of which had a different look and feel from the old classic sets) I'm hoping for an official modern version of the Galaxy Explorer. Quote
Pencoin Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 If this is a success, I hope we get more revisons like Blacktron and M-Tron. Quote
Algernon Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I'd like that. M-Tron might turn into another Power Miners, since the idea of a cargo transport business is something LEGO would probably market to younger kids, but Blacktron and Ice Planet have potential. Quote
Pencoin Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I hope we get a Alien-Based theme like UFO. We need Civvys as well though, Futron? Quote

When it comes down to it, I'd really like to see the return of the Classic Space astronauts. And Futuron were a great redesign of them. So, I hope LEGO at some point returns to a similar design and features space explorers, not just astronuats contained to Mars or law enforcement. Quote

I'd love to see a modernized version of a line like Futuron or Classic Space in which the more sophisticated modern techniques and elements are implemented as well as new spins on the minifigures. Nirdian Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I! WANT! PICS! Seriously, I heard someone say he saw pics... POST 'EM WILL YA! I hope this is going to be a series with REAL spaceships, not like the ones we've had so far with square zoomers that are full of holes... Quote

I hope this is going to be a series with REAL spaceships, not like the ones we've had so far with square zoomers that are full of holes... Nirdian, you need to stop these spammy posts. We may get pictures, we might not! Any pictures we do see, we shouldn't because its against the law to do this. If we do get some pictures, be greatful someone risked getting into law-trouble for us to see them. Even though we haven't got any, you should be thankful that The Penquin told us some infomation about two sets. Anyway, I do hope we some good ships. I don't mind small ones having only a cockpit and not much storage, but big ones should have lots or storage space and non-firing features. Same with bases, we need more features like storage and vehicle-storage areas. Even stuff like Force-fields that slide down and escape pods would be great! Quote

mania3 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Pictures aside, I'm surprised people who have seen them wouldn't endeavor to describe them. Until LEGO officially releases pictures that can be legally viewed I'd be content just knowing color scheme and general descriptions of how the sets and theme looks. But that's just me. Most of all, I'm just extremely curious about the color scheme because I'm quite confident the designs will be solid. Quote

This actually made me spit up my drink from laughing because as I typed my last post I had visions of Power Miners dancing through my head. I was trying to imagine myself swooshing a lime green and orange ship but I just couldn't. Quote

But that's just a guess... Quote

The color scheme and aesthetics are probably the most important things to me in judging a theme- two things that can be pretty well described... In terms of the Power Police, I've still got a torch and pitchfork reserved for such an occasion. Edited January 5, 2009 by Algernon Quote
Adam Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Yes- the names suggest that the sets will be very cartoony and Agents-like, but didn't we all hate Agents when we saw the prelims and end up liking the sets? For the Space Police, it's obvious that the color-scheme for their vehicles and structures will be a consistent, but even if they're cruising around in hot pink and bright yellow, it's also apparent that those won't be the only colors received. For instance, you've got this "Squidman" in one set and a Mr. Freeze wannabe in the next- with each set, there is going to be a different villain like in the Batman series, and each of their ships/buildings will have a unique color scheme. There are six sets, and if each set has a different baddie, each will have it's own color scheme, so that's a total of 7 different color schemes- I'd be shocked if all of them were hideous. I'm going to guess that the Police ships are white and blue and the bad guys ships are black with one very yellow exception. Either you're implying something or you're hoping for a mix of a modern Police color scheme with Blacktron, and as I said above, I don't think that there will be one fixed "bad guy" (like in the original Space Police and Space Police II themes). Quote
Pencoin Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 It looks like all the bad-guy aliens are woking together though based on the infomation we have recieved, so its likley the bad-guys will just have one colour scheme. Quote
KDog Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I would love to see people's MOCs of what they think Space Police III will look like, and then see who came the closest. If I could offer a decent prize, I'd consider making it a contest. The only problem is that pix of the real thing could surface any day. Quote
Algernon Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) That's true. Maybe, after pics have surfaced, we can have a contest about what Space Police III SHOULD have looked like. :P Edited January 6, 2009 by Algernon Quote
