hollisbrick Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 These look awsome Better than I expected!!!! But are there any pics of 5969 - Squidman Escape 5970 - Freeze Ray Frenzy? Thanks to all who got the pics! They are everything I hoped for Quote
Larryfromaz Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Is any one else wondering if Lego is going to make a Stargazer or Quicksilver figures next? These sets remind me of SILVERHAWKS. Lego where did you come up with this idea? Quote
Rayman Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Oooo are the Space Police Officers wearing black aviator caps? Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I'm not sure about the huge cargo space on the back of the hot rod, but it might grow on me, if the cargo pod can be removed then that'd be great. I agree the space police don't look that cool at the moment but you nevwer know when we see close up high res photos that might change. Overall I like the new line and the villians look great. Quote

Overall I like the new line and the villians look great. The cargo boxes should be able to come off, it's a heist, so that police need to be able to stop it by taking the crates away from the aliens. Everything becomes 10 times cooler when you're swooshing them with your hands. And I'm pretty sure TLG has made sure that these are swooshable. Quote
dieselboy m Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I am totally geeking out over these! So can't wait! Quote
xenologer Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Noticed Look closely at the box art photo of the Galactic Enforcer, The engines on its wingtips have minifigs sitting in them, would appear that they separate and act as mini fighters or perhaps the whole thing reconfigures in some way. Quote
---Vertea--- Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Wow. These new minifigs are really neat! I'm liking the odd look of the aliens-It'll definitely open up some new MOCing possibility.... But better coverage would be nice... At least we might get some next month on the seventeenth! Quote
Eilif Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Wow! I had just given up on starwars, and thought I was safe from anything "space" related, and then these come out! Great new figs, (and lots of them) Classic space looking good guys with cyberpunk bad guys. I really hope this is a line that sells well, Because I'd love to see more of it! Quote
Tohst Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 These are the aliens I would've loved back in the day instead of the UFO aliens and insectoids. Especially Squidman. 4 arms would have made great Insectoids, no? So, having seen more and better pictures, I still don't like the hot rod. Too racers. On the other hand, I love the cargo truck. I'm sorry, the Spaaaaaace Cargo Truck. So, maybe its not the style I don't like, just that particular hot rod. Anyway, so, the jail cells on the Galactic Enforcer. There is some sort of mechinism that they pop open when you hit a certain place to 'free' their captives. Or just kill them in the coldness of space. Thats one way to shut up an informer. Anyway, first thing I'm going to do if its not already there is make them removable. That was one awesome thing in SPI and SPII and it looks like they may have gotten rid of it for a play feature. Understandable. I still see the SP vehicles themselves as on par with the better Mars Mission vehicles, just with a better secondary color. I hope all the cockpits hinge open. Wow, does this line need more impulse sets so I can get a reasonable number of those new aliens. Does it bother anyone else that all aliens are criminal and the space police all human? What kind of message is that? Think of the children? -Tohst Quote
Joebot Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Does it bother anyone else that all aliens are criminal and the space police all human? What kind of message is that? Think of the children?-Tohst Good point. TLC missed a cool opportunity here to have a multi-species police force. Sorta like their very own Green Lantern Corp. That would have been really great. trooperdavinfelth Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Does it bother anyone else that all aliens are criminal and the space police all human? What kind of message is that? Think of the children?-Tohst In light of the fact that aliens are not real, and the aliens pictured in these sets are by no means based on any living being, no, it does not bother me. Gah... No... Not the... the CHILDREN! Little Sammy: Mammy! Mammy! Lookit the little aliens mammy! They gonna steal the big laser to create mass destruction in the city, mammy! But lookit mammy, the police are gonna lock em' up and kill em' in space, mammy, with the airlock, mammy! Sigh. Quote
Asuka Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Think of the children? Yep, indeed... on the other hand, these aliens´re fancy and thrilling, contrary to the MM ones, so I can see: Little Sammy: Mammy! Mammy! Lookit the little aliens mammy! They´re cool as cucumber with their funky outfit and their groovy cars, can I become a Space Gangsta too when I´m grown up, mammy, I wanna steal the gold from the stuffy police men and blow stuff up with my big laser gun, mammy! Next you'll be telling me the pyramids were built by humans and the US dollar bill doesn't have a coded message on it. I guess I was generalizing the 'things that don't look like me must be bad' message. Which would be mitigated with just one or two good guy aliens. Star Wars had Chewbacca and....ummm...wow, pretty slim pickings past him, ummm, Admiral Ackbar. But then again, I also wince at how the Star Wars universe treats droids. They are just machines! But wait, personality and sapient thought. Look at what R2 just did! Oh never mind, take them to get their minds wiped. Again, think of the children who will absorb that attitude and stick their sandwich into the DVD player because its just a machine From a practical standpoint, at least for me. Making the aliens so diverse and all bad makes it that much more expensive to buy as many aliens as you would need to design an alien town. I guess Bricklink is my friend. -Tohst Quote
Loganwan Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Yeah, I don't understand the whole hood thing... there appears to be some functionality but wtf is it? o_O It looks like when the top is down, the antenna will be sticking out straight in front of the vehicle as a sensor of some sort. I think these preliminary sets look really nice. If they are really this good, I will have to expand my city to include a space port. Quote

Capt. Kirk Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Certainly something to buy... after years some cool space sets. Quote
CP5670 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I'm half convinced that hood is attached incorrectly and is upside down.-Tohst I was thinking the same. The way the antenna points down looks quite odd, and I'm not sure how it would flip over automatically. On a side note, the shape and engine placement of that model remind me of the Orca from the C&C games. Quote

While I agree that there should be some good aliens as well, I think kids these days have plenty of examples of how an alien can be on our side and how a human can be an enemy. Star Wars comes to mind. I'm half convinced that hood is attached incorrectly and is upside down.-Tohst Same here... something about that picture just looked totally off. Quote
Legoman31 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 The Galactic Enforcer is awesome and will be a definite buy for me. Am I the only one that noticed the return of GREEN minifig hands? Quote

Anyway, first thing I'm going to do if its not already there is make them removable. of course there's a mechanism. further out you see round technic panels. if the springloaded missile hits these panels, it will free the stasis tanks. and you think you could get away from that. Yeah, there's actually a surprising amount of information on the box art. I think the orange guy is Squidman, but I can't tell. BTW, I sure hope those stasis tanks are removable... if they're not I will be upset... Quote
Bricks Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I really love our new theme series! But now it looks still scattered. Because I didn't see any connection between these set's. But looking at them, without that fact, they are really great. The new Space ships haven't this corny stupid colour, they are more for ''older'' fans. Well, of course, kids (like me) will have his fun with these, too. So great new series... Greetings 'Bricks' Quote
