Draykov Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 It is 5973More than one thief can steal gold... That works for me...thanks, Mark. :) Quote
Brickthing Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 It is 5973More than one thief can steal gold... It could be either then couldn't it? Because it's quite similar to the Agent's Gold stealing set (in terms of gold stealing baddie and goodie following), and there could easily be a more speed-esk set that's the Hyperspeed Pursuit. mania3 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 but it is 5973 lol. Oh man. Should we make a Space Police III FAQ that is required reading before posting? Quote
Draykov Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Saw this vid linked over at Brothers Brick. An interview with the Power Miners design team...kind of fun. :) The gent in the middle/right pane who designed 8957 Mine Mech and 8961 Crystal Sweeper is none other than Mark Stafford (AKA Nabii). He's also responsible for 3 sets in the new Space Police III line which proves there is a God. :) Quote
Algernon Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Are you shitting me?! That awesome MOCist works for LEGO and he's designing Space Police 3?! HOLY TAFT ...but the mining mech is rather bad, so I'm surprised he designed it. Quote
Draykov Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) Well, pricepoint/mass produced pieces/etc...he does have to deal with a lot of restrictions. And I happen to like the mech. For $8, it's not half bad. But, if you check out the interview over on Brothers Brick (part 2), Mark mentions his involvement in the new space theme. Edited January 15, 2009 by Draykov Quote
Algernon Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I forgive him completely; he made the Ultra-Drill Walker. Quote
Sir Dano Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) but it is 5973 I think I'll wait until I see a pic saying that before I fully believe it. Edited January 15, 2009 by sir dano Quote
Brickmaster Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 He's made all of my (most recent) favorite sets. The prototype crystal sweeper is just plain awesome too. Quote
Algernon Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I think I'll wait until I see a pic saying that before I fully believe it. I believe a LEGO Ambassador "hinted" that it was the Hyperspeed Pursuit. I'm willing to believe him, since I have a hunch that he knows (), but I do see the logic in believing it to be the Gold Heist. Quote
natelite Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 it IS 5973, guys. it's hyperspeed pursuit because it's a chase: police chasing the robber(s). the other set is 5971: gold HEIST. look up heist in the dictionary. it means hold up. i know, i know...it's nuances like these which sort of hint to you what sets they are. Hinckley Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I think I'll wait until I see a pic saying that before I fully believe it. I had the same logic... Quote
mania3 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I had the same logic... Yet I feel like you do believe it is 5973, Hinckley. Quote
Hinckley Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Yet I feel like you do believe it is 5973, Hinckley. That's why I say I had the same logic. Quote
Sir Dano Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) I sense a conspiracy. Oh they've already seen the pics, they just won't let the unwashed masses see them. Come comrades! We must rise up against our oppressors! For the Rodina! Edited January 15, 2009 by sir dano Quote
KDog Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I feel bad because I suggested it was the Gold Heist set, when it now seems obvious that it's Hyperspeed Pursuit. Not that anyone listens to me, lol. Quote

CP5670 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Am I the only one who doesn't care about the set names and which one goes with this set? In the old space themes, the names often didn't reflect anything about the set itself and were just randomly chosen to be anything that sounded cool. Quote
Wobo Ihi Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Whoa. A new LEGO space theme that doesn't look like crap. Looks very promising. Looking forward to future pictures. Quote
mania3 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Here is something we all might find interesting. It was under a week ago that I went to LEGOLAND and photographed this sign. I was there the week before and the sign was not present, so that means it was a pretty recent acquisition for the shop. That being said, I go back today and it is gone. I thought this was odd. It was replaced by an old Speed Racer sign. Why do you think this would be? So odd, but makes me realize just how lucky we got seeing this early. Quote
KDog Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 It wasn't supposed to be out! You (and we) lucked out! Quote
Spacefan Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 So it seems the Lego shop jumped the gun with that banner, hmmm. I wonder if TLC is planning something big with the official unveiling of Space Police? Quote
