trooperdavinfelth Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Yep, indeed... on the other hand, these aliens´re fancy and thrilling, contrary to the MM ones, so I can see:Little Sammy: Mammy! Mammy! Lookit the little aliens mammy! They´re cool as cucumber with their funky outfit and their groovy cars, can I become a Space Gangsta too when I´m grown up, mammy, I wanna steal the gold from the stuffy police men and blow stuff up with my big laser gun, mammy! That too... Aliens aren't real? Next you'll be telling me the pyramids were built by humans and the US dollar bill doesn't have a coded message on it.I guess I was generalizing the 'things that don't look like me must be bad' message. Which would be mitigated with just one or two good guy aliens. Star Wars had Chewbacca and....ummm...wow, pretty slim pickings past him, ummm, Admiral Ackbar. But then again, I also wince at how the Star Wars universe treats droids. They are just machines! But wait, personality and sapient thought. Look at what R2 just did! Oh never mind, take them to get their minds wiped. Again, think of the children who will absorb that attitude and stick their sandwich into the DVD player because its just a machine From a practical standpoint, at least for me. Making the aliens so diverse and all bad makes it that much more expensive to buy as many aliens as you would need to design an alien town. I guess Bricklink is my friend. -Tohst Oh, Tohst... Why so srs? Quote
Tohst Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 That too... Oh, Tohst... Why so srs? You may be the first person who when I complain about droid treatment in Star Wars (and its complimentary argument that RD-D2 was a jedi) to accuse me of being serious. To pull back to Space Police...I really was expecting flashy police costumes. But what we got looks like they may be good for Town SWAT use. And the second MOD I'm going to make to the Galactic Enforcer after removable jail cells (if they already don't come off) is a row of K-9 launchers. What's the use of having robotic dogs if you can't launch them at perps. And if they would make robot horses, we could do the Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers... -Tohst - drifting...drifting....righting...drifting Quote
The Rancor Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Doh! The sets I was most interested in Squidman Escape and Freeze Ray Frenzy! Well, I can be pretty sure that green four arm guy is involved! Quote
natelite Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 And if they would make robot horses, we could do the Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers... not a bad idea, but i believe they are called powersuit or exo-armor or mecha. Quote
mandziarat Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I love these so much, I think i'll camp out my local Toys R Us in 20 degree weather till summer. Quote

Kinda like Cowboy Beebop but taking the cowboy literally and not metaphorically. Oh and for an audience five to ten years younger. So, actual robot horses. Well, Lego robot horses. -Tohst (getting more building ideas...still having no time to build) Quote
cephalopoid Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Doh! The sets I was most interested in Squidman Escape and Freeze Ray Frenzy! Well, I can be pretty sure that green four arm guy is involved! Yeah, it seems that most people here are really curious about this Squidman. I wonder why? Could it be for Davy Jones? Or do you want it for a Cthulhu minifig? Me, I'd like to make a Cthulhu minifig . . . Quote

That fourhander would be an awesome cowboy´n´gunslinger for sure... That would be an explanation for why there´re no aliens in the SPD too... the whole department´s just made up of Chuck Norris clones... Quote

Legoking Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 My jaw is dropping. Someone help me over here! I can't wait until these sets come out. The new Space Police destroy Mars Mission by far. Quote
Rayman Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Man, I would love it so much if Space Police did all the things that Police can't, by virtue of it being aliens..... 8793 - Planet of the Space Prostitutes Don't forget the Space Pimps! Quote
Batbrick Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Space cowboys. Kinda like Cowboy Bebop but taking the cowboy literally and not metaphorically. Oh and for an audience five to ten years younger. Just for even mentioning the awesomeness that is Cowboy Bebop I award you a free internet. I get your argument too, I would've liked an alien on the Space Police side and vice versa just to mix things up, like a Green Lantern core as you said (another free internet for you!) Batbrick Away! hewkii9 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Don't forget the Space Pimps! Man there are too many pimps in Lego these days! Like, not that I have a problem with it, but it's shocking! Two Castle pimps, and now Space Pimps? I bet the four-armed alien will have a fluffy coat and fedora in the actual set. Quote
civilians_in_space Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 On the pictures of the boxes of the Galactic enforcer and the container heist there is a dome of the moon/ asteroid. maybe in 2010 there will be a base. i hope it is the police... :alien: :alien: :alien: :alien: :alien: :alien: :alien: :alien: Quote

CommanderBly 128 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Wow, These sets look great. This is the first time im going to buy anything other than star wars. However, if TLC went through all the trouble to make the alien heads, why cant they make the other minifig heads fleshies. I hope they change this. Quote

I hope they change this. I think there would be a lot of ticked off LEGO fans if that happened, including me. Fleshies should stick to licensed themes in my opinion. Quote

I am actually saddened that the Lego designers didn't totally steal from adhere more to the Block Block O' Verse. It's seductive combination of bulky spacecraft and garbage collection seemed to perfectly marry the twin super-themes of Space and City. Space Police? Who cares! Space Garbage Collectors? Instant classic. In particular the Dancing Mo Mo Cactus Kitten subtheme seemed to have the balance between brick-built minifig alien freaks and Block-Blockiness just right Quote
Klonoa Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Wow, what can be said about the Space Police? I think they look great! LEGO chose a wonderful color scheme. I like how the police are kind of more classic feeling, and the aliens are new and unique. I'm certainly looking forward to picking some of these up! Quote

Algernon Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Personally I like seeing what the AFOL community thinks of it, even if they hate it. Quote
The Queen Of Skittles Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Good point. TLC missed a cool opportunity here to have a multi-species police force. Sorta like their very own Green Lantern Corp. That would have been really great. I agree. Variety would be nice. Kind of got a racist thing going here, in a way. :P Maybe they just wanted to keep it simple, though. I can see people getting confused: "I thought the aliens were BAD GUYS?!" Quote
Moose Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 anyone follow up on those names i posted earlier? Quote
