Algernon Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 I'm really eager for pics... the second half of 2009 seems to have a lot of interesting sets! Quote
mania3 Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Personally I'll be entirely happy if it is like "Agents in Space" - a bit of flair would be nice after the dull Mars Mission etc. I completely agree. The Agents sets look really good up on my shelf. I was really enjoying all of my Mars Mission sets until the other night when I looked up on the shelf and noticed how they all blend completely together. The colors don't allow them to stand out or really draw a lot of attention to themselves. But on the other hand, the shelf with the Space Police 2 line is pretty eye catching. I hope the color scheme for Space Patrol is exciting. Quote
Algernon Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I think we're all pretty much just waiting for pics. :D Quote

I hope the color scheme for Space Patrol is exciting. please please please, NO WHITE parts!!! especially if Blacktron is involved!!!!! I DO hope that Lego understand they cannot fool around with Blacktron's reputation among space fans! I'm really crossing my fingers here. If they screw up then i'm going to be seriously pissed Quote
Algernon Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 As I said, I think it's unlikely that Blacktron will be involved as anything more than a backstory. But, if they are, the name kind of eliminates the possibility of white parts, as well as the obvious "evil" theme... Quote
ghoulrealm Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Blacktron may have to rise up and make a full comeback in order to guarantee job security for the Space Patrol force. As exciting as the possibility of a Blacktron3 is, what really has my tentacles tingling is the Squidman. Quote
Algernon Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 The Galactic Enforcer is what I'm excited about. Hopefully it'll be better than the Hypersonic Operations Aircraft. Quote
Spacefan Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 The Galactic Enforcer is what I'm excited about. Hopefully it'll be better than the Hypersonic Operations Aircraft. As am I. The set's name could be a play on words between "Galactic Mediator" and "Galaxy Explorer", so its possible its an updated synthesis of the two designs. We can only hope the Galactic Enforcer designer learned his/her lesson from the MX-81's playability shortcomings (no interior, etc). Quote

We can only hope the Galactic Enforcer designer learned his/her lesson from the MX-81's playability shortcomings (no interior, etc). The thought of a modern spin on models like the Mediator and Explorer gets me all tingly inside. However, it also worries me. Because while modern LEGO products have brought some pretty amazing design elements, it has also brought some less desirable additions (firing missiles, stickers, etc.) But I suppose that anything could be MOC'd out in what would be considered an overall good design. So my fingers aren't crossed for perfect, just an overall good design. Quote

Spacefan Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 (edited) I'll take what we can get, at this point. If the theme is generally better or more classically Space inspired than Mars Mission as a whole, I'll be buying every set the moment they come up for pre-order at LEGO Shop at Home. And in the meantime hope they go light on the stickers and strange gimmicks, and keep out the jellies... Edited November 19, 2008 by Spacefan Quote

Im waiting for pics before I say anything else. Quote

Morgan19 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 (edited) Apart from the Star Wars sets over the years, I don't think I've ever been so freaking excited to see pictures of upcoming sets... The fact that LEGO is swinging back to the core basics and naming them as such (Town, Castle, Pirates, and technically now Space) has me really excited. m19 Edited November 19, 2008 by Morgan19 Quote

I completely agree. I just came out of a ten year long dark ages about 6 months ago, I feel like I accidentally picked a great time to have done it. Quote
Algernon Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I hope we get pics soon, I'm stoked. Quote
Legoking Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 This is going to be cool, but are there any pictures yet? Quote
Still Raindrop Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Just as long as the Squidman doesn't have the new Squidward head mold Quote
Algernon Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 No, no pictures yet. And what's this new mold you speak of? Quote
Still Raindrop Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Oh, I was jokingly referring to the head mold in the new SpongeBob SquarePants sets. Quote

Algernon Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Agreed... and fewer bars would be good, too. The Hypersonic Operations Aircraft wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, and the capital ship of the new Space Patrol should be great if it wants to live up to the legendary Galactic Mediator. Quote
