Trexxen Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 List of names: Orange Thing - Pliskin (OMG YES! I called it! Oh, and MGS ftw.) Twins - Skull Twins Squidman - ... Four-Arms - ? Orc Thing - Spike "Cyclops" - Gasmask Can anyone decipher the name on Fourarms? <_<; ~Trexxen Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 (edited) OMG freeze ray frenzy is made of pure win, but I don't see a freeze ray... Squidmans escape is cool, but, how is squidman escaping (plot hole....) that AWESOME SPACE POLICE SHIP THING AWESOME SQUIDMAN MUST HAVE COOL. I also think that the Gold heist is cool, but it's not much of a heist, I mean Four-Arms only gets away with one gold brick . SUPER AWESOME COOL. I am TOTALY going to buy them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that his name is just Four-Arms... Edited February 12, 2009 by dannylonglegs Quote
Moose Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 (edited) sadly, im not sold. i needed to see more pics, and now that i have, they didnt win me over. the new sets, not that great. squidman looks like an absolute joke. pliskin looks like more of a squid. the gold heist is pretty cool, but the only set im definately getting is hyperspeed pursuit - far and away the best of the sets. and it has the two twins, which i like the most. id like spike and four arms, so i could buy gold heist cause its the second best set, but i guess i just wont be able to get spike. sadly this line proved to be a let down P.S. I still cant get over the fact that the space police dont have full helmets. im pretty sure every other space theme had them, and this is just too much of a HUGE turnoff Edited February 12, 2009 by Moose Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I adore it even though most of them seem to be on a surprizingly oxygenaten moon, a well good night moon.... zzz Quote
hunterx Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 can someone give me a link to the pictures Quote
Sir Dano Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 can someone give me a link to the pictures Honestly now, is it that hard to look back a page? Quote
xenologer Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Honestly now, is it that hard to look back a page? When a topic grows by 4-5 pages per day of mostly useless comments; yes Honestly it is Very Hard to look backwards and find the useful posts. Quote
hollisbrick Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 These are as awsome as I expected, although I wish the skull twins were in a cheaper set They're probs my favourite out of the figs! Good Guy Impulse: The Fig looks pretty sweet, as Algernoon said, I hope they are more black The robo dog looks cool too! But as I said before TLG couldn't help themselves to put a FFM on him Bad Guy Impulse: The fig looks better than I thought But sorry to say the speeder looks pretty thrown together although I guess it's a good parts pack Space truck: Looks pretty awsome Hopefully there is something inside it! But I probs wont get it..as I'll only get it for the fig and the fig is in tyhe impulse. Plus I need to save room Hyper speed pursuit: Looks pretty awsome as well. As I said form the start It has my fave figs from the line in it so I might get it Really depends on the price. And as I said before, I need to save room.. Suidman Escape: A great little set hopefully no more than $10! The speeder is neat Also that quidman guy is pretty awsome and I need a red cape too! But does he really expect to out run a speeder? All for one peice of gold too? Freeze ray Frenzy: Also a nice small neat set. And..is that a stop sign The orange dude looks pretty cool as the police does as well And the speeders dont look to bad either but where is the freeze ray? Gold Heist: This is probably my favourite set out of this line The figs are great! Although Four arms speeder is thrown togther like the impulse one The tank thing looks awsome as!!! Hopefully it's not too expensive.. Man I'm excited about this theme Quote

TheShnomon Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 HOLY SHIT!!!! SKULLLL TWIIIIINS, SQUIDMANNNNN!!!!!! THose look amazing! Spike and Cyclops look beautiful, as do all other criminal figures in this amazing fantastic magical line! Oh gawd, those new helmets/heads. I can't wait! I shat bricks!!! Quote
Algernon Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I shat bricks!!! This phrase is especially appropriate on a LEGO forum. Quote
Moose Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 i understand that the original space men had open helmets, but that was due to a design "flaw." it was a complete helmet, the visor just wasnt created, so u had to imagine one. but it is created now, and there are still complete helmets, so why even consider not using a traditional helmet. it just look right without it. im sorry Quote

At least it's different. I think that these unclosed helmets look cool, but I agree it doesn't make much sense. They are prelims, though. Quote
natelite Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 the problem is that those are aviator caps not helmets. so it doesn't fully encase the head. though those 1980s space helmets have "invisible" visors it's still fully enclosed. but i agree that's very trivial issue. in fact, i love those aviator caps over your standard helmets because aviator caps are harder to come by. i have tons of standard helmets. having seen more high res pics, some of the sets are quite good now. most of the SP vehicles are quite nice. look at the two small speeder bikes! though i would also have to agree this theme would be more aptly named futuristic police rather than space police. how does speeder bike work in space? the villains vehicles however are mostly jokes. the gold heist vehicle?!?! looks more like a futuristic motorized wheelchair. and wtf is that space speeder impulse set? instead of that, they should have given the cyclops a big brickbuilt raygun or something. if tlg wanted conflict based theme, they should just flat out give them weapons. right now the sets just look so incomplete. especially when you have super villains on grandma's wheelchair doing a "gold heist"! what do they use to hold up a bank? Quote
Spacefan Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 (edited) Wow, this theme is sure shaping up, lots of cool looking bits everywhere! TLG is sure going minifig crazy with this, I can swear there are different alien figs with each individual set! So I think this necessitates my buying all of them. The Skull Twin aliens in Hyperspeed Pursuit are my favorite minifigs so far, and I want to build up a small army so multiples of this set are a must, their like a combination of Blacktron 1 and UFO. The Space Police look very Blacktron-like (I wonder what LEGO could do to make a new Blacktron fig meaner looking?), but its way cool to see the classic air tanks are making a comback even if their helmets are not fully enclosed. I still like the Galactic Enforcer, there are some light rather than dark trans-blue elements in the latest pictures, though I'll still buy it being its a large spacecraft and still looks cool enough to me for the most part. But all these pics are still preliminary and I'm sure there will be changes to come. Anyway I expect Space Police to sell huge, if only on the strength of its classic name and minifig variety alone. osakana Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 To everybody complaining about open helmets: Are we forgetting the most acclaimed Space sets in LEGO history? Gee, wheez. This is not opened helmet - only the visor is IMAGINARY. Like steps in those little LEGOLAND houses without back wall. Quote
fubuking Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I dont know if this link has been poste before http://www.pockyland.net/viewthread.php?tid=10431 if it has im sorry Quote
GiBBs Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 (edited) Wow that is awesome Thanks for this fantastic picture fubuking. I'm a bit confused about the set Freeze Ray Frenzy because there's nowhere a freeze ray ^^ I dont like the Squidman-figure. His set is a bit tiny,I thought it would be bigger, but the other sets are incredible. I suppose that the sets 5979 Max Security Transport and 5980 Sqidman's Pitstop will come later this year, but I hope there will be pictures of them soon, too. Edited February 12, 2009 by GiBBs Quote

It's an open helmet, but if imagining the visors are good enough for you, then fine. Fubuking, those are the pictures I posted, but we're not allowed to post pictures that say "confidential". Quote
Mirandir Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Haha I was dead worng about the squidman. I need to get myself some glasses or something... Bricks Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Wow, what for a great new series My favourite set is ''Squidman Escape''! It looks so great, especially the squidman minifigure. I must really say TLC did a well job. Good new figures, great ships. And not such an mad colour line. ~Space Police on~ Greetings 'Bricks' Quote
