MECHALEX Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I hate for my first post to make a negative point, particularly about a great new range, but it's a shame the villains are all non-human whilst the perceived good guys are. I know that's in keeping with the Castle range but it does seem to strike a slightly xenophobic note. That said, the craft are wonderful, the detail superb and I particularly like the cyberpunk look and feel of the villains craft. Quote

It does, but this being LEGO and all, there's no reason not to enlist one of these aliens onto the SP3 team. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I'm probably going to make my own human bad guys! Quote
Aeturnus Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Just wondering how do the space police breathe..seems like they have visor type helmets like hoth soldiers and not helmets.Otherwise a very interesting looking series..good for a sw themed city Mos eisily cantina etc Quote
bigredrobot25 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The more I see the more I'm sad we won't be seing these in the UK but thus is life. All the aliens look top notch to me and its nice that we get so many new heads in one range. I am a bit confused about the statue that's being towed behind in the galactic enforcer set as isn't he surpose to be chasing the police? what do you mean they wont be in the uk Quote
Algernon Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 what do you mean they wont be in the uk Space Police 3 won't be released in the UK. It's possible they may be available at S@H and LEGO Brand stores, but no retailers, at least for now. Quote

It's possible they may be available at S@H and LEGO Brand stores, but no retailers, at least for now. What? That's the stupidest thing I've heard. Why? Is it just the UK or is it the whole Europe? I live in Sweden, and I want those so badly, and I will be really sad if they won't Quote

I know that's in keeping with the Castle range but it does seem to strike a slightly xenophobic note. There are enough human criminals around for them to deal with already! They could arrest the mars mission humans for harvesting poor aliens to power their ships, or the power miners humans for killing the rock things and destroying their home, all in the name of progress... Seems there'll be plenty of bad guys to arrest :P Quote
Aeturnus Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Perhaps Galidor will finally see its glory ...Space police can track down genetic mistakes(bad themes) Those multi coloured Knights kingdom knights could almost be space aliens..although they remind me more of power rangers..(more mindless babble brought to you from my 5am brain) Quote

MrTools Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 With all those aliens you could make an efficient Cantena from star wars! Quote

Hewman Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 here is a closeup of the great statue<snip> looks nice but whats the point of it being there? To get all us old classic space nuts that aren't overly keen on space police to buy this expensive set, and it just might work too! Quote
Svelte Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Thanks for the video links - it really makes a difference to see the sets in action. The Galactic Enforcer is wonderful The rest are OK but stickered to hell and back. The yellow container with laser is kind of odd. Why be hauling a giant crate around on the back of your ship with the concealed weapon? Quote
Ricecracker Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 For all the city fans, it seems like 5973 has a pair of yellow car doors. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 For all the city fans, it seems like 5973 has a pair of yellow car doors. Where... I don't see ANY.... Maybe there are some on the gold container.... are you talking about hyperspeed chase ??? Quote
Natman8000 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 When I first saw the gold heist or what ever the 20$ one is I was impressed. But now I see it is kind of empty. Kinda disappointing. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) actualy I love gold heist!!!, but I'm probably biased due to the fact that Four-arms is in it Edited February 17, 2009 by dannylonglegs Quote
Scouty Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 IN-ANNOS-TRIGINTA-AD-CAELUM-INFINITUM-CONSTRUXIT"in annos triginta" - in thirty years, accusative of time ad - preposition indicating "towards" or forward motion, used with the accusative caelum infinitum - noun and adjective modifying noun respectively, both in the accusative case because of "ad" - "caelum" is a neuter noun meaning "sky" or "heaven" while "infinitum" is pretty much as you would expect. construxit - third person singular perfect form of construo, construxi, constructum - "to build" - meaning "he/she/it built" There's certainly no word for "honour"... the Latin word for that is... honor. So really it should be translated "[he/she/it] built in thirty years to the endless sky." That sounds pretty awkward. Why? Because I'm guessing the person who wrote the motto was not exactly a classics scholar, not that I'm such a genius myself... Hmm, interesting! I think a translation of "Thirty years of building and the sky is infinte" is: Triginta annos construendi et caelum est infinitum. Quote

At first glance the lack of a SP ship is disappointing but when I see it in person, I can't deny that it is VERY stylishly pulled off... ...which means I'll be getting every set in the theme. Sadly these sets come out right before I walk off to college. This will be an interesting year. When I first saw the gold heist or what ever the 20$ one is I was impressed. But now I see it is kind of empty. Kinda disappointing. The biggest problem with the Gold Heist ship are those two black arms holding the Flick Fire missiles on the front. That is just SO sloppy and annoying. They don't make any aesthetics sense. I normally don't mod my sets but those will go. Otherwise I still think it's a great set, and it's pretty cheap by today's standards. I'll wind up getting it for sure. The SP3 lineup is pretty strong; the only thing I find disappointing are the new Space Police minifigs. I'm not getting "police" vibes from them at all. Looks more like Blacktron to me. I live in Sweden, and I want those so badly, and I will be really sad if they won't Sweden will get all of Space Police including those two TRU exclusives. The impulse sets will arrive in june and the rest in august. There were a list posted previously with countries where this theme weren't going to be sold. If I remember correctly it's UK/IR, Russia & Japan that'll have to do whitout them for now. Quote
Asuka Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) Where... I don't see ANY.... Maybe there are some on the gold container.... are you talking about hyperspeed chase ??? Yup, they´re using two for the gold container that´s in the black space Chevy from Hyperspeed Pursuit, you can see it if you follow phoinix´link to countblockula´s videos... it seems like the designer of that set shows mercy to all the people who´re like me ranting against their annoying absence in far too many City sets... a brilliant and very charming move indeed... I´m really very pleased by the design, the playability and the humor (police ray gun in the space truck!) that´s put in all these sets. There´s a great balance between some features especially for the kids, like that 'gun' glider to shoot at the stasis tanks in the Galactic Enforcer set (which reminds me in general a lot of 6986 Mission Commander), and some more AFOL orientated aspects like the detailed engines (6781 SP-Striker, anyone? ) of the police craft from HP, the interior and (classic) rover and mini-bot (6894 Invader?) from the GE. And now we get car doors too and of course that cool ClassicSpace MF beside all these already pretty cool new Aliens... A smart job, TLC, really well done. And a big 'thank you' to all of the people who worked on that inspiring new theme. Edited February 17, 2009 by Asuka Quote
KDog Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 That Classic Space statue is awesome! But I wonder if someone from LEGO reads my comic... The statue is very similar to the Captain Dash memorial I featured back in September: Lego: Space - The Comic It could surely be a coincidence, but if my comic did inspire LEGO designers, that's awesome! CP5670 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) I was thinking of the same thing when I saw that statue. some more AFOL orientated aspects like the detailed engines (6781 SP-Striker, anyone? ) That set had no engines at all. Edited February 17, 2009 by CP5670 Quote
