Algernon Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) That set had no engines at all. That's what I was thinking. XD Edited February 17, 2009 by Algernon Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) That Classic Space statue is awesome! The statue is very similar to the Captain Dash memorial I featured back in September: That's just what I thought follow phoinix´link to countblockula´s videos... videos don't load on my slow computer for some reason. TheBrickHitHouse Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Very impresive looking sets ...there is a element of the Life on Mars sets in them, but thankfully - less <insert that tiresome argument>, if anything they use the larger bricks rather well Love the variety of the bad guys - some great new mini figs that will work well with star wars too Love the muscle cars of the bad guys! Quote
Oky Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Love the variety of the bad guys - some great new mini figs that will work well with star wars too I'm sorry, but those cartoony weirdos don't look like anything from SW. I like how the big laser cannon in 5972 seems to be a stolen Police cannon with the Police symbol being scratched out by the criminals. Quote

Natman8000 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I'm sorry, but those cartoony weirdos don't look like anything from SW. Pffft clone wars cough, cough. I really like the space graffiti on the containers. These aliens are badass! Quote
Oky Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Hm... Yes, I see the resemblance. But that still doesn't explain what TheBrickHitHouse said. Are you saying that Squidman is a replacement Jar Jar? Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 My brother thinks that Plisken would make a nice temporary tikes (or however you spell that) if you don't beleive me ask him he's Genewal Gwevus. Oh and he agrees with you guys on the cantina stuff Quote
Capt. Kirk Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 For me these sets are superb...much better then Mars-Mission in my opinion. But will the mini-figures heads & headgear get a more polished-look. If you look now some are kinda roughly... or is this because of the photo ? Roughly Smooth Quote
Capt. Kirk Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 It's because they're prelims. Thanks Algernon for the answer... respect !!! Quote
xenologer Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) New Part? Look really closely at Freeze Ray Frenzy, on the alien guy's speeder bike. He's sitting centered atop that engine cylinder, which ought to have 2*3 studs on top. Perhaps there is a new 2*3 jumper plate he's using as a seat? Also look at how the bionicle wings on the Space Truck Getaway are attached, that would appear to be a new technic/system hybrid brick holding them on. Potentially very useful for making suspension systems on cars... Edited February 19, 2009 by xenologer Quote
user Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 That's awesome! A tribute to Classic Space by TLC themselves! Apparently, there is a museum in the Space Police universe about classic space exploration, and Spike robbed it. Oh I thought he was vandalizeing the statue not stealing it. Quote
KDog Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I think it's his way of saying Screw the Space Agency! Quote
seahawkeye Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 How many people here are on the side of the wacky lil' critters? As an Australian, I think I'm programmed to oppose the Space Police and support these poor, hungry, oppressed outsiders. C'mon everyone, say it with me, SMASH THE SPACE POLICE! LIBERATE THE SKIES!! SeaKing61 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I'm so annoyed we're not getting these in the UK this year. Might have to have a little trip to France one day Laurie Quote

C'mon everyone, say it with me, SMASH THE SPACE POLICE! LIBERATE THE SKIES!! "SMASH THE SPACE POLICE! LIBERATE THE SKIES!!" Ahem, yes, I agree. These great looking aliens are just trying to make a life for themselves, but the comparitively dull Space Police are disrupting their activities! I'm not keen on the design of the police vehicles, but the aliens and their vehicles are great, I have to have some! I'm so annoyed we're not getting these in the UK this year. Might have to have a little trip to France one day Me too! I'm English and I think it's a silly descision TLC made... I'm going on two holidays this year, to the Netherlands for a week and Switzerland for two weeks, so I should be able to get some of these sets there! :skull: Quote
Algernon Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I think it's interesting that there's a huge split of opinion between those who like the Space Police vehicles and those who like the villain vehicles. I've heard many people speak in favor of one of them but not both. Personally I'd prefer the Space Police vehicles, because I love the designs of the three biggest ships, especially the Hyperspeed Pursuit vehicle. I do really like the villain vehicles too, though. Just a little sticker-heavy. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) I Side with the Aliens. ('course I also sided with Blacktron and the Ufo's so I'm not sure that it's realy saying anything. As for the vehicles, I realy can't decide which are best. I think that the bad guy "Scooters" are pretty mediocre, But they make up for it because of the space cycles, and.... SPACE HOTROD . I love the space police small ships... I mean REALY REALY REALY LOVE the small space police ships, I Also love the thing chasing the Twins... .... Don't kill me but, the GE is not exactly my fav, Probably because I never realy liked big things (accept the stingray ((shudders)))But It is way Way higher on my likeing scale than ANY of the new bionicle sets, and the space skooter things(man the bad guys need to gro up they still ride scooters)(killed by 4-Arms) I'm not sure what to say about the ship in gold heist, It rocks, butttt not as good as GE, or a few things... I have to say I love dem all Edited February 27, 2009 by dannylonglegs Quote

Just a little sticker-heavy. The two factions couldn't be more different to be sure, with the aliens being all cool and cyberpunk, and the Space Police being more traditional Space with that making them look all hum-drum and boring to some. At first I felt the aliens and their vehicles were just too radical and out there, but the more I study the pics, they more their sets and figs grow on me. Actually the entire theme is very well executed on the whole, much better than Mars Mission imo, though I know some have differing views on that score. However the Space Police are still my favorite, because of my age more than anything I suppose, but I still plan to buy every set in the theme. Quote

I'm siding with the Space Police because I like collecting more military-like themes and amassing a huge space navy. The villains aren't organized enough for me to march them into battle. But I do see the attraction of the aliens and I'll be picking them up for sure... those parts are too good to miss out on. Quote
