The BBB would rip its stern apart before the cannon ball reaches the Barracuda :pir_laugh2:

That cannon's recoil when firing is not compensated.

In my opinion that cannon doesn't count in this battle.

Well, while your comment has merit, I'm going to have to counter. The rear cannon is fixed to the stern of the ship on a seemingly robust platform. Given that, there would actually be zero recoil and this would make for faster and easier reloading. If we are imagining this battle as actual functioning ships, why would the ship be designed such that its cannon could not even fire without destroying itself? (that would be hilarious to see, tho :pir-sing: ) If you are imagining that the ships were scaled up and having battle as though they were still composed of plastic lego bricks then this whole discussion is out the window. The two ships could not possibly battle as they would not float to being with.

Brickbeard's bounty. That's the better one. Of course if i had the choice i'd choose my QAR, due to it's second deck and mightier broadside. If we REALLY break the rules, i'd go with a Lego Endeavor, triple gun decked hunk of wood and evil.

Well, lets forget that BB Rear cannon dosent have wheels in it. Remember that its in spinning piece wich makes the cannon extremly difficult to aim when the ship waves to side to side.Wich makes the cannon either way useless.

I do not believe that having wheels will improve the ability to aim a cannon on rough seas. The BB's rear cannon can still pivot after all and the fact that it can swivel, if anything, makes it better to deal with waves on lightly rolling seas. To imagine that the gun could not be 'locked' into place given a rough sea is as ludicrous as expecting the firing of the cannon to tear apart the stern of the craft. The gun would not be there if it could not be used. But even if it were not and there was a rough sea and the rear cannon could not be used, then all you have here is a practically even fight. Of course, if there were truly rough seas, I suspect the battle would not be fought at all.

BSB all the way! That ship and I have a long history together involving me modding the heck out of it >.<. When I get the chance to, I'll have to post some pictures of it. But back to the topic, I always liked how the BSB can easily look like a cargo vessel and not always be a pirate. That, and compared to the BB, it has more cargo space.

i see everyone thinks old and legendary BSB is mightier than the new Brickbeard's bounty. I disagree.

Reasons:

BSB has 4 inmobile cannons, that make the ship heavier. Brickbeards bounty has 3 mobile cannon...that cannons are more useful than 4 inmobile cannons

BSB is bigger, so is supposed to be slower, and Brickbeard's bounty may be faster

I think BSB was a good ship, but is overrated because it was the first lego pirate ship and the are a lot of nostalgic people.

In my opinion, SES was much powerful than BSB, and had a better design...even Redbeard Runner may be more powerful than BSB

I said this in June 2009...but i have bought old BSBby first time and I see I was wrong.

Now i have both ships, BSB and BB, and once i know well both ships I think BSB is better.

I said BSB is bigger, so is supposed to be slower, and Brickbeard's bounty may be faster and that's true, but BSB's deck is much more consistent. BB's deck is empty and weak, so BB can be damaged easily, and both ships have 2 cannons in broadside...but BSB's pirates don't need to move them, because they have 2 cannons in each broadside. BB's have only two cannons in deck, so BB's pirates should move the cannons to the pertinent broadside in battle...and BSB's pirates don't need to do this.

So BSB is mightier than BB

(I hope this is correct english by the way)

SES's cannon system is the best in my opinion of all the pirate ships, besides some of the smaller ones. The cannons on turntables and able to slide along the floor just seems more practical as far as Lego is concerned.

Sorry to bump this topic, but I see too much hate towards the BB here and it doesn't seem fair to me. I have recently built both ships. Also, I am biased towards ships which were released after 1993 (SES, RR), so I think I am able to make a fair comparison.

I think many of the people criticising the colour scheme of the BB, do not actually have the set. I used to criticise new Lego colours before owning this set. BB has a superb colour scheme, elegant and realistic. I don't think that dark tan, dark red, brown and black, are more childish than bright yellow, red and white. They are also nicely matched and the overall visual experience is better than the BSB. Not to mention the new cannons, minifigs and the superb blue boat. +BB

The construction of the BSB is better indeed and the overall shape looks slightly more realistic. Space is actually used on the hull (+there is an extra piece). However, it doesn't seem to be used wisely to me. It would have been very easy to place 4 cannons on each side and still have storage space and other nice elements. BBs hull is quite empty though, so not much to say here. +BSB

The cabin of the BB looks much better and more realistic to me, there is more space inside (easy to place some furniture), there are more windows (more light coming through) and the cross swords on the back are a nice detail. I also prefer the new doors because they have windows, but the old ones look good too.+BB

The rigging/masts are better on the BSB, can't argue. +BSB

The sails are ugly on both ships in my opinion. Yes, the skulls on the BB are awful, but I don't think that replacing those sails with regular ones (or rolling them) makes the ship a MOC (so the comparison would still be fair). ==

Finally, I believe that both would be quite weak in a battle because they only have 2 cannons on a side. ==

So we have equal score, but with a very small investment and some patience, I think that BB can be improved to beat the BSB on every aspect. These changes would not be significant enough to make it a different ship and I intend to a add topic on this at some point. Anyway, my vote goes for the BB.
