So far I've purchased:

--Shipwreck Hideout (TRU)

--Cannon Battle (TRU)

--Soldier's Arsenal (BL)

--1 Additional Imperial Soldiers II minifig and 4 additional Imperial Soldiers torso (used to upgrade my four shako-wearing bluecoats).

--A few additional pirates (old and new)

I plan to purchase:

--Soldiers Fort

--(another) Cannon Battle

--(possibly) Loot Island (for the sake of having another island)

--(possibly) Builder Set w/ Pirate

The only reason I'm not buying the big ship is because I already have like 15 other BSB/SES-sized Lego ships...and basically that leaves me with no room to add more. I'm focusing on small ships (6277 style) and islands right now.

Here's my list of sets for a small army:

5x Soldier's Arsenal

2x Pirate Survival

2x Cannon Battle

1x Kraken Attack

1x Loot Island

After I've got those I'd probably save for the Fort. And after that for the large ship. If I ever get that ship (hopefully) I'll have enough spare cannons to fill up all the gun positions on that ship. 1 from the back upper roof of the ship and another one from that boat you get with Loot Island. Just need to get the extra wheels and stuff then though.

A very lot of money (for me) but I'd just save some money on SW and City.

i am going to buy all the sets (i hope) i only need 4 more (sets 6242, 6239, 6241, and 6243)

After spending $40 at a different TRU, I now have Kraken Attackin', 4X Cannon Battle, and 1 more Soldier Arsenal.

The Lego Store is supposed to have the ship and Fort in stock on December 2nd.

first buying GTA 4 game, late birthday prezzie. but after that im gonne buy all sets :p some even multiple times!
