AndersI Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Oct 30 to Nov 2, I arranged a meeting for Swedish AFOLs in my home town, Eskilstuna. This was the third time I arranged something, and the 9:th 'official' meeting of this particular group of AFOLs. We're not really organized, but meet under the SWELUG name, hoping that someone will organize the group more formally some day in the future... This meeting was (in my view) a complete success. Thanks to sponsoring from LEGO (arranged by copmike) we had lots of LEGO boxes to present to the winners of the different competitions and lots of bricks for the kids to play with. And, thanks to AFOL Olof also the adults had lots of LEGO to play with. Another high point was that former LEGO designer, Nathanael Kuipers, who works with other designs in Sweden for the moment, was able to come too. We were all very interested in his models, and to talk about LEGO design with him. With a total of 32 different people visiting more or less during the weekend, I believe this was the largest SWELUG meet so far. The core group (staying all the time from Friday evening to Sunday lunch) were about 10 people, seven of them sleeping in my cellar. We did lots of talk, speed building both for adults and kids, blind building, relay building and free building, but the main event was the ULV (Ultimate Lego Vehicle) competition. We ran a shortened version of Friday evening, and had the big one on Saturday. All in all, I had a great time, the biggest disappointment was that I didn't win any of the nice sets (I really have to design a better car next year!). But I'm happy for the winners (and the losers, too!). CopMike Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Thanks for the report Anders, and very well organized! You seem to have had a great time, I so wish I could have been there !! 34 people in total is very good, but next year we´ll beat that I´m sure. Now we´ll concentrate on Christmas & New Year, after that it´s time to plan for something more. CopMike Quote
