Infomaniac Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Hi, To someone who is fortunate enough to own 6243, do these hulls correspond with these hulls? meaning, could someone put the two on top of each other seamlessly? Thank You Infomaniac Quote
Thee Pirate Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Also, can the new hulls be stacked on top of each other seamlessly? I don't really want to wait another week to find out :-D I can't decide if I want to buy two ships right off the bat. Quote
Razzer Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 (edited) First of all I know don't know about whether the two will stack on top of each other, but te colours will look off as the old hull is in old brown and the new is in dark brown. Also, the new hull peice goes on top of another piece to look just like the older one and you cannot see the join, just check out svelte_corps review. Ho this can clear some things up, although I can't answer the main question, as it's not released in the UK till '09. Edited November 26, 2008 by Razzer Quote

I don't know how the old ones stack with the new ones as I don't own any old ones! If somebody wants to donate a BSB for me to compare I will be happy to do so The new ones do stack really well - as Razzer says, you cannot see the join when putting the top hull section on top of the bottom hull section, and multiple top hull sections stack equally well on top of each other. Here you can see the end hull sections split apart: And stacked together - very neat: Quote
Guss Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I just bought a Brickbeard bounty on Ebay and now I'm waiting for it, but I ll not be able to tell you because ... I just don't have old hulls! ( and I need somes) but I think if it's the same size, it must be ok. Quote

Indeed, and the stern could prove to be difficult, since it is another piece. Quote
Svelte Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 The new piece isn't dark brown; it's red-brown. It is confusing because the Troll Warship parts *are* in the new dark brown. Quote
Lt. de Martinet Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 The old ones are old-brown, and the new ones are reddish-brown. Quote
kidcharm Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Has anybody noticed that the BB set might be the first ever deluxe pirate ship to not have an anchor? What are your thoughts on that? Quote
djo Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 yeah, i cannot see any anchor too in it. shouldn't all ship have anchor at least one? Quote
General Magma Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Maybe TLC rushed the designing so much that they forgot to add an anchor. That's gonna be a hard time for the pirates, no anchor - non-stop sailing around. Quote
Fluyt Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 RBR, IF, RR and CBC didn't have an anchor either I think. Quote

That's because they're so awesome (well, maybe except CBC) RR didn't even have a ship's wheel, next to not having an anchor, it did have a compass though. i dont know what they pass over there in usa, but here in italy the Black Seas Barracuda and the Skull's Eye Schooner, as well as the The Red Beard Runner, had anchors. I own those 3 ships: BSB and SES, yes they had anchors, RBR (and RR, CBC, IF and the new ship BB), no, unfortunately not (and I live in the Netherlands). I don't think that differed per country. I think that RBR might have had an anchor when it was re-launched as a Lego legend in the early 2000's but I can't verify that. Nope, no anchor (according to bricklink and peeron, I only own the original 6289) Edited December 3, 2008 by Fluyt Quote
RichardAM Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 This is an outrage! As a means of protest for sloppy design, I refuse point blank to buy this set or show any interest in doing so! (Or something!) Quote

I checked the Red Beard Runner on peeron and I didn't saw any anchor in the inventory where the pieces are shown. But I saw an anchor in SES and BSB. Edited December 3, 2008 by General Magma Quote

kidcharm Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Thanks for all the replys. ...Seeing that so many LEGO ships didn't have anchors makes me feel a little better about the lack of one in Brickbeard's Bounty. ...I just feel a little put off about the price of the set and it missing some seemingly vital parts. You know, even with an anchor and all it's parts the set would still have under 600 pieces. ...at $100. Quote
ZCerberus Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I was wondering if it has anything to do with the lack of string. The Brickbeard Bounty uses chain where the classic ships use nylon string-- there really isn't a good way to attach the anchor without any string- so they may have passed on it for that reason Quote
Tacitus Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I think that the pirates are supposed to use the maiden as the anchor. Quote
Zarkan Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 ZCerberus probably is right - I think TLC is trying to refrain from using string items in their kits as much as possible, probably because they are tough for kids to put together. Still, I don't see why they couldn't have just made a new anchor mold that had a stud attachement point - but this won't stop me from buying it. I have a couple extra anchors anyway. This is an outrage! As a means of protest for sloppy design, I refuse point blank to buy this set or show any interest in doing so!(Or something!) Woah, all because of one small missing element? I think that's a little harsh - especially since this is extremely easily modded. Unless, you were just being sarcastic... Quote
kidcharm Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I think that the pirates are supposed to use the maiden as the anchor. That's funny! I'll have to use that if anyone asks about the missing anchor. Quote
Corvus Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 They don't really need anchors other than for accuracy. What are kids going to do with it? It can only lower an inch or so. The only thing you can really do with it is tow other ships around. Quote
Tacitus Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 That's funny! I'll have to use that if anyone asks about the missing anchor. Yeah, it just conjures images of the maiden dragging along the sea bottom. Horrible. :pir-skull: But as a side note, I don't think that the Troll ship, the Skeleton ship, or the Viking ship had anchors...Well, the Viking Ship shouldn't have an anchor, granted, but you see my point.
