I went to a woolworth's yesterday and the shelfs were stripped of nearly everything, there were discounts which i guess had caused nearly everything to be sold.

It is a shame, and a worry, for example, the Lego cargo truck and forklift or the lego container handler were exclusive items to Woolworths this year from what I could see, even Legoland did not sell them. It only seemed available on Shop at home and in Genuine Lego stores.

I hope Lego have not negotiated any exclusive distribution deals with Wooly's for next year!

Woolworths used be really good for Pick 'n' Mix but my closest one no longer has one and it used to stock lots of good toys, now at my closest wool worths there's not many toys and the only lego is small city sets.

No lego in my local one. :pir_bawling: Except for an open V19 Torrent with only the stickers and instructions left. :pir-sceptic: I suppose its easy to shoplift in busy periods. :imperialguard_commander1:

They had lots of Lego before August, then it dissapeared (not stolen, bought quickly. YOU SHOPPERS SPOIL ALL MY SHOPPING TRIPS! :pir-sad::pir-laugh: ).

I picked up a truck and forklift at 20% discount last Friday. I'd considered buying the set a while ago, but thought the price was a bit steep. At 20% off I couldn't resist. I think it's sad to see Woolworths go. Yes, they had a lot of tat, but it was one of the few places within walking distance from where I live that actually still sold LEGO sets (or CDs for that matter). I used to buy things there fairly regularly. They would also fairly frequently have special deals on toys, which meant that although their LEGO was normally at RRP, good deals were sometimes to be had. Mosaic sets at half price and UCS Batmobiles for just £25 come to mind.

Cheers,

The end of Woolies sale starts today, though most of the Lego was gone before the sales started. It seems impulse Lego buying in all but gone from the UK highstreet.

yeh, it was some of the first things to go. On the other hand my local woolies had load of megablocks left even with 20% off them.

It made me smile immensely.

Well I went to my local Woollies, which usually is very well stocked on Lego yesterday. Unfortunately their were only 2 different sets on sale, the V-19 torrent, which I didn't like the look of, and 8117 Storm Lasher, that cool Exo force set I've been meaning to buy for a while. The box looked a bit battered so I was a bit doubtful, however when I found out it had been reduced form £15 to £11 I bought it. I suppose it is still possible to get Lego bargains in Woolworths if you go soon.

Funnily enough, out of the whole store the Lego shelves were the only shelves that were empty, everything else was well stocked. Perhaps Lego has recalled their sets from Woollies?

I saw the Storm Lasher a few weeks ago before the 'crisis' at £7.49, but passed it up... also, the V-19 was supposed to be £19.99, so I'd say it was worth the gamble. Haven't managed to find one myself.

Hi The Kid,

Try Argos here

Its currently £19.49, and they had loads left (in SW London) when I picked mine up last week. I guess the original price was just too crazy
