All I asked was if anyone knew anything about this fig being released other places in the world.

When you start a post by quoting someone's post, and then finish it by thanking them it implies that everything in between is directed at the person who made the original post you quoted. You didn't make it clear at all that you were asking the general readership, and it seemed that your questions about the 10,000 for the US and European availability were aimed at me.

If that was not your intention then I'm sorry for misunderstanding you. I didn't mean to start any kind of flame war.

Anyway, this is going round in circles so let's just leave it because it's going to get David vs Goliath if we carry on.

the Lego Rep that I asked before has just replied again after I asked them to check ...

I've just asked around in our office and I can confirm that LEGO set is not official so, yes, it's a fake. We'll certainly investigate further to prevent other customers to think we sell or make promotions with individual licensed minifigures.

LOL

oh dear ... seems like I've got myself an idiot!

I think I'll just give up on this one ... if it is another exclusive to certain geographies then I will just forget it ... I'm not gonna spend mega bucks to get one ... same as with the golden C3P0 figure.

:/ I've just got a reply from LEGO UK:

"Thanks for getting in touch with us.

This special promotion must have been a promotion from the shop itself. We

do not have any promotion like that in the UK or in other European countries.

Please get in touch if you need anything else. It's free to call our experts

on 00800 5346 5555 (Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm) or you could go to

www.LEGOshop.com.

Happy building!

"

they clearly have no idea about that :/

Umm...so was it a fake? :sceptic:

Yes...

No of course it's not fake.

Did you even look at the pics?

Would you even consider questioning the sincerity of CopMike and Ras? :sceptic:

It's just another example of TLG's offices in different countries not knowing what each other does.

As written earlier, another LEGO rep. answers that this fig will be randomly inserted into 10000 sets in Northern America.

That doesn't exactly make it fake, does it?

Is there not a slight chance that the chrome will appear in all sets when released? I live in hope because the preview pic of the Tie Advanced box has the Anniversary logo on whilst none of the others do. Grasping at straws maybe?

ps: amazed by this website/forum - thought I was a hardcore fan (and one of a rare breed) but seeing some of the collections and customs has made me realize "I will double my efforts"!

I allready own the set and the vader inside has some nicer printing,, but sadly no.. its not chrome.

Chromievader came with the set , not inside it, not glued on to it, not stapled on to it.. The nice lady behind the counter had the chromies in a bag on the side as stated before..

If you read the review on 8017 Vader's Tie by Ras, you'll see that there's the same Darth in the set as the one in the 10188 Death Star. So sadly this special edition Vader wont be part of the set.

Intel says that he's bound to show up in 10000 random sets (not Battle Packs) in North America next season.

We're still in the dark about the rest of the world.

Oh yeah and welcome to Eurobricks.

Hardcore or non-hardcore fan, everyone is welcome around here.

As I stated before so according to Fredrik Pettersson on LEGO MR. Chromie-Vader will also make an apearance in Germany next year. Don't know in what form though.

So all we know now is North America & Germany.

I can't keep up with all this, is it coming to Ireland?

Well Sweden, US and Germany are the only confirmed countries so far. But 85,000 is quite a lot so there is a good chance Irland will get atleast a few of them. So keep your eyes and ears open for any campaigns by LEGO the coming year.

From Steve the Lego Rep at FBTB

Hey ya'll, I wanted to clear this up a bit for you guys.

The Chrome black Darth Vader is going to be randomly inserted in 2009 sets in the US just like the chrome gold c-3po was in 2007. this means it won't be in battle packs or retail exclusives (including shop@home, target, wal-mart, etc.). There will be around 10,000 just like last time and it will be a luck of the draw thing, just like last time.

the one's in Europe right now are part of a special promotion and I believe it will probably be the only way to get them in Europe. rest of the world is probably out of luck again, just like last time.

anyways, I figured you'd want the straight scoop. Don, I don't hate you, I didn't answer any emails about that until I had a clear direction from marketing for what I could say :)

Steve

So, which is right, 85,000 worldwide or 10,000 USA only?!

Posted

According to that statement, where he says "The Rest of the world is out of luck". Does that mean only Europe will get it, or the entire world.

If so, and its the entire world, I hope I get one! I didn't win the other one.

Maybe they've got the remainder ear-marked for SDCC?!?! ;)

he means, as far as he knows (or is willing to say), only the USA (does that include Canada!? Who knows ... ) will get this in the same deal as the gold C3POs. So, everyone else in the rest of the world, including Europe will miss out.

The only exception is the deal in Sweden which originally alerted us to this fig.

i dont think steve was ambiguous as all. i really don't see what the confusion is about.

it's simple.

US: 10,000 will be randomly inserted into 2009 sets.

Europe: <unknown numbers> will be given out as part of special promotions, such as pre-order, etc.

Others: SOOL

simple ain't it?

aussies and kiwis? SOOL. turkey? SOOL (TLC's definition of europe = those euro countries where S@H is available). poland? SOOL.

total available = 85,000. this doesn't mean europe is getting 75,000.

europe is getting some of that 75,000. the rest are most likely going to be given out in expos and conventions etc.

Posted

As Sweden got it outside the box, that means that it should be like that in whole Europe (as there is one production plant for Europe).

I think it might be just up to national LEGO division how the minifigs will be given away

there is S@H for Poland, so maybe Vader will be given there as well

One sold on eBay for $13 yesterday. The seller was in the US and they claimed it was part of a forthcoming McDonalds promotion.

LEGO has already told me that there is no planned LSWX tie-in with McDonalds next year and they are unaware that any of the other LEGO offices have a similar promotion planned.
