LEGOscum Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I live in the U.S. How are they giving them away? For real? Try reading the opening posts in this thread. Quote
The Rancor Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Dang. Too bad it was not that easy in the US to get chrome darth vader. You UK'ers will have it easy. I expect the purchase price for the Chrome Vader won't be cheap though actually, so I may not pay as many visits as I thought. And besides, I like it when the UK have it easy - it barely ever happens so I'm thankful when it does! Quote
ILikePi Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 It's almost impossible to get a chrome Vader in the U.S... Quote
Legoking Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Do you guys think $22.90 USD is a good price for chrome vader? LegoKing Quote
ILikePi Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Yes, since there's only around 10,000 in the U.S., it's a good deal. Quote
LEGOscum Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Do you guys think $22.90 USD is a good price for chrome vader? Definately. Don't wait. Quote
diabloiij Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Definately. Don't wait. The chrome vaders should cost less in the future as the gold 3po is limited to 10,000 (currently selling at around $80 on ebay) but we have over 85,000 chrome vaders out there. you do the math. Quote
MadAboutLego Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Message from LEGO, this refers to the UK Chrome Vader promo:I am sorry, you seem to have been given the wrong date I am afraid! This promotion will be held exclusively by Toys'R'Us, but not until the 7th of June this year. You will be given one of these chromed figures when buying a LEGO Star Wars set apparently. But only as long as stock lasts! Sorry if I missed something, but is this true?? And will they have them in Northern Ireland as this is our nearest TRU 60 miles away? Quote
Legoking Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Thanks for all your inputs. I purchased 2 from bricklink. Quote
Bobskink Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 I just got a chrome Darth Vader, bought it on eBay now that prices droped and I'm so glad I waited. This figure is just not as cool as I thought it would be. The chrome is just to mush and it has a purple shine. They should have made a R2 D2 with chrome head istead, that would have made some sence, but this Darth Vader doesn't, it's even not a good looking minifig... Quote
Johnnhiszippy3 Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 While at the Lego store today I got the Store calendar for June. On June 17th from 5 - 7:00 pm they're having a Darth Vader minifigure speed building event. The fastest builder will win a "limited-edition Darth Vader minifigure". The photo shows a minifigure with a "sparkle" to it. I'm guessing this is a Chrome Vader Quote

Markypops Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Just a heads up for anyone living in the UK, the Toys'r'us promo has started ahead of what we thought it would be. Was in my local one in Glasgow today and got my hands on a couple of chrome vaders. For those of you that want to know the promotion is spend £29.99 on Star Wars LEGO and get a free chrome vader. Happy hunting everyone. Quote

MayTheBricksBeWithYou Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 It seems that I've been to quick with getting those new Star Wars set @ TRU Germany, I could've got myself a couple of those Vader figs. Quote
mufftarkin Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 this morning i bought 2 chrome vaders at the toysrus shop in frankfurt, germany at the shopping center Nordwestzentrum. they sell them separately foe € 4,99 each. There is one box under the cashiers desk. just ask. the box was nearly full. Quote
Kaitan Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I picked up a couple of Chrome darths in TRU glasgow today. I was very happy the promo had started early, BUT the prices make it very difficult to JUST spend 29.99 on star wars lego. No single set is priced 29.99. I think we worked it out that you would actually end up spending approx. £40.00 before you qualified. Luckily there was an xwing 6212 (£44.99) that I wanted :)) and I got 4 battle packs (9.99 each) too so I could get another darth :) Quote
R Belloq Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Sorry this sounds like such a stupid question, but it is plastic right? Not metal? Quote
ILikePi Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Sorry this sounds like such a stupid question, but it is plastic right? Not metal? Yes, it is plastic. The chrome isn't magnetic or anything. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Was the C3PO metal? No, it was also coated plastic. Quote
R Belloq Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 so basically would it be worth getting the darth for like $35 or the c3po for $87? (i know that <-- is off topic sorry) Quote
The Who Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 so basically would it be worth getting the darth for like $35or the c3po for $87? (i know that <-- is off topic sorry) Depends on what you plan on doing: Selling the figures later, or keeping them for personal use. Quote
