R Belloq Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Depends on what you plan on doing:Selling the figures later, or keeping them for personal use. probably personal Quote
KinGanon Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Hopefully the added availability of Chrome Vader in the UK will also drive down prices on BL. Also does anyone in Germany/Austria mind picking one of these up for me? Quote
Ewok Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I'm from Austria and at our T'r'u they sell them still for 4,99€. I've bought 3 for me Quote
metalandi Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Can confirm that, but i didn't pick one up or anything else since i just was there to check if new sets are available and not to buy anything. Quote
RileyC Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 man it so annoying how everyone is getting chrome darth vader except for New Zealand :cry_sad: Quote

ILikePi Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) In time I'll have a few for contests here and then you might 'earn' one Yay! Meanwhile, I'll try my luck on an event in LEGO Stores. On June 17, LEGO Stores in the U.S. will have a Darth Vader speed build contest. Whoever is the fastest will win a "limited edition Darth Vader," which obviously is the chrome black version. Also, the good thing is that if you participate, you get a free Darth Vader magnet. It's a win-win situation! Legoman Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 man it so annoying how everyone is getting chrome darth vader except for New Zealand :cry_sad: There are a few on trademe, but don't forget, you can import stuff. That's how i got mine - got it from Austria Quote
metalandi Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I just picked one up too at my nearest TRU store, Dude it's expensive (almost 5 euros), but it's beautiful! Quote
Darth Bug Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I finally got an answer from LEGO France, this promo will be available in Picwic shops but sorry no further information about when it'll be! For the TRU promotion is over in France, it was the contest I was speaking about in my last post! Quote
Oky Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I just saw the Lego Store calendar for this month, and there is a Darth Vader Speed Build taking place: Do you think that "limited edition DV minifig" that the winner gets is the Chrome DV? Quote
The Who Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Do you think that "limited edition DV minifig" that the winner gets is the Chrome DV? Unless there is some sort of other limited edition Vader currently on the market. Quote
Oky Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Unless there is some sort of other limited edition Vader currently on the market. You're right. I gotta get over there NOW! Quote
The Who Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 You're right. I gotta get over there NOW! You know, I kind of wonder if people have just tried taking an assembled Vader with them, and holding it up to declare victory while scooping the given Vader parts into their pocket... (Yes, I know that qualifies as cheating and stealing. Just one of those random "What if..." moments.) Quote
Oky Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 You know, I kind of wonder if people have just tried taking an assembled Vader with them, and holding it up to declare victory while scooping the given Vader parts into their pocket... I did but it didn't work. No, no, JK. It would be really hard to do since there is a rep sitting right in front of you, supervising the build. Quote

Unless you supposedly ''built him under the table.'' Or point to the sky behind him, and yell "Hey, look! A distraction!" Anyway, this is getting rather off-topic, though I can't think of anything to say that would be on-topic. Quote
mania3 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Speaking of giving these things away, did everyone know they were handing a ton of these out at LEGOLAND California for the Star Wars weekend? Kids could earn them for trivia contests, and building competitions. They gave away a thousand or so. Quote
Oky Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Damn! I was too late. Why, oh, why didn't I find out about this earlier! I could have had a chrome Vader for freakin' FREE! Oh well. Sorry for reviving this old topic. I just got a little excited. Quote
ILikePi Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 (edited) Well, I went to that Darth Vader speed build thing, and it was hard... You get one minute to build as many Darth Vader minifigs as you can, but I could only build two as I was really sweaty and my hands were shaky from excitement. The winner built three, and was a 10 or so year old girl (you win a chrome Vader)... Oh well, I thought that I wouldn't win anyways... By the way, the event was for people ages 6-14, Oky Wan. EDIT: Here are some pictures: (will add pics later) Edited June 18, 2009 by ILikePi Quote
Erdbeereis Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 The winner only built 3 in one minute!? Were the parts all mixed up or something? It seems like it would be easy to get at least 5 done. Quote

Thats was I was just wondering. I just took apart a Darth Vader (Into Helmet, Head, Body, Cape, and Legs) and had him back together in 7 seconds. Did they pull off the arms and legs or something? Natman8000 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I assume that you took of the legs and arms, but anyway, I could build way more than that. Once you get the hang of popping arms in, it is really easy. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I kind of doubt they separated the arms, as they never come like that in sets. Quote
Natman8000 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I kind of doubt they separated the arms, as they never come like that in sets. Then if you are right, I could build so many. I think I should go try it with my own collection. I got over 16 figs built Quote
ILikePi Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Well, its actually hard over there since the parts are all mixed, and there are around 3-4 other people grabbing at the box at the same time, so their arms cover the box, which means that you can't find the parts easily. Also, the two kids on each side of you are really close to you. I could probably have made around 10 if I was just sitting down by myself. Quote
