Guss Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 (edited) hello everyone! I bought the 7774 "crab crusher" set some times ago, and I really loved the submarine, but it was a little "small" I thought, so I took some part of the 7773 and some other part lying in the 7784 box, and started to modify it ^^ the result is there ( with the original one on the bottom of the pic) : it's 12 studs longer than the original, and it's a little higher too^^ it have a "hatch" is that the good word ? on the bottoms to allow people to enter and exit the submarine while under the sea. the "black holes" on the bottoms ( on each sides of the grey thing) take the water and put it in a machine that transform the water to air ( yeah , incredible technology ^^ but that's sci-fi, who cares ? ) here is the view of the machine : It looks like a kind of filter.. rear view with the main propulsion : a view from the above: the next picture is the link to the "exterior" galery : now to the interior ! here is the "cockpit" : the pilot sits to the left of it, looking through the front ( and unique ) windows of the submarine, the "navigator is turned to the rear, with all his instruments, radar, and the controls of the little drone ( the same than in the original design) here is where they can "live" , 2 beds, a computer and a toilet on one side, the kitchen on the other side. here are the "hatch and machinery" that's something quite hard to photography^^ the next pic is a link to more detailed pics of the interior thanks for watching ^^ comments and suggestion welcome, I really like my "mod" I'm not going to destroy it I think, so if you see a way to improve it, just say so and I'll try ^^ Edited December 2, 2008 by Guss Quote
WhiteFang Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Guss, that is a nice mod. My submarine is still inside the box, and I have not started building it yet. I do like this submarine, and your mod version has certainly done it much better, especially its interior. Does the orginal submarine comes with nothing inside? I am not sure what it contains though. Thanks for sharing. Quote
Guss Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 thanks a lot for your kind comment Whitefang ^^ I did a review of this set on my website, I just didn't translated it in english yet :/ but there is an interior to the original submarine, here is a pic of it, it's a link to the gallery of the set : the review, only in French, but I'll translate it .. when I'll not forget to^^ can be found here: http://guss.teammu.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=35 Quote
Siegfried Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Great work! I did the same to mine as I thought the same. It's interesting to compare ours; you wanted to make a bigger bridge, but I wanted to leave the front and make it into a RV docking bay. We both however felt that the prop placement was wrong and moved it to the proper place! Your interior is great; I've never finished mine... the "black holes" on the bottoms ( on each sides of the grey thing) take the water and put it in a machine that transform the water to air ( yeah , incredible technology ^^ but that's sci-fi, who cares ? ) Not at all; that's how real subs work! (Do a websearch for "Electrolysis submarine" ) Quote
WhiteFang Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Thanks Guss, for showing me the comparison. It defintely helps a lot. This is an eye opening experience, with various submarine designs. You guys, are tempting me to open up my box and start building it. Quote
VBBN Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Great work Guss! And you as well Sinner. Very sleek. I especialy like your interior, Guss. -VBBN Quote
Guss Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Sinner, I love yours! looks more realistic and "clean" if you see what I mean^^ I also prefer the way you put the rear propeller, but I don't have these new technic bars in yellow^^ there is a lot of things on mine, yours is more "smooth" and that's very ! rebuild it and Finish your interior! we want to see it! ^^ I never saw an "aquaraider " diorama or scene, I wish someone will do it, I love these sets^^ maybe I'll try, when I'll have more yellow pieces^^ oh , I watched your topic .. I'm hesitating to resurrect it by posting in it, because I really love your 7772 mod, unfortunately I don't have it and I'll never have it... I spent all my "lego budget " on some other sets^^ ( can I undig it ? ) You guys, are tempting me to open up my box and start building it. just do it :pir-skull: you'll mod it like Sinner and me and you'll post a pic of it for comparisons! Great work Guss! And you as well Sinner. Very sleek.I especialy like your interior, Guss. default_thumbup.gif -VBBN monkey.gif thanks a lot ~VBBN~ ^^ Quote
Buttons Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I told Guss not to do it but did he listen? ... No! Just kidding Guss. You have made an almost unbearable set quite pleasing. THUMBS UP! Quote
Guss Posted December 8, 2008 Author Posted December 8, 2008 I didn't listen to your advice because I really thinks that's some nice sets! So I bought these sets^^ thanks for the comment Buttons, I'm glad you like it^^ but I don't understand why you don't like the original one, It's the one that made me wants to build a mod! Quote
