Over the past several months, myself as well as others have been adding BLOGS to Classic-Town.net. Unfortunately, no one (with the exception of WhiteFang and very few others), take time to comment regarding the great MOCs and other articles posted to the site, even when it's a blog about a MOC shared on Eurobricks.

This gives me the impression that either the blogs are not being read, or people aren't appreciating the content.

I'd like to ask for your opinion on the subject and if you wouldn't mind, share some recommendations to make the site/blogs better. What are you interested in seeing more of?

I've added a poll to provide your feedback, but please share your thoughts on the subject.

Your feedback is valued!

Hey Brickster!

Well I choose other because I actually read and enjoy all these things  But the reason I dont comment is because my computer is pretty slow so it takes forever :hmpf_bad: But since you have a little situation I will try and comment as much as I can :sweet:

I love to see mocs and set reviews, so I voted for "mocs from the lego community" because I don't really care if it's an EB member or not^^

I understand the problem. For myself i can say that i don'y reply on classis-Town

if there is a topic on eurobricks. I think most people will do that.

I think that's the reason why not uch people react on classic-town.

You are referring to a forum and they will post any comments in there

See more of? Dancing girls, of course. :sweet:

Ok, I'm kidding. I'd really like to see more entries by me.

I'm working on that part of things personally, so expect a greater output from yours truly.

That's pretty much my theory as well, so I never gave it much consideration.

Perhaps, at least occasionally, someone could mention having seen it on the blog first, just to give us a bit more idea of the kinds of stories that are the best to feature for maximum interest.

Similarly, avid readers might want to add our latest slogan (it must be the latest, I just made it up as I was typing it) to their sigs:

Well... you could. If you like us and stuff. Aw.

I like this blog very much, specially because it's allways a nice "summary" of the best City&Town MOCs on the net! Keep the nice work, please!:wink:

BTW, I voted for "build contests" I did not a good job in the last one and I would want to try again... lol

If you haven't all ready you could easily add a proper hit counter sitemeter.com to the blogs, give access to the writers and you will know what is popular and what isn't. It's a free program in the basic package.

I've used it on another non-LEGO blog I write.

I do understand your trying to figure out what content people like. I'd prefer a even amount of everything Town/City. It would be a change of pace for the readers, give different writers a chance to contribute what they are good at and please different readers.

Aside from that, excellent blog, bookmarked for my morning reads!

First I have to give the congratulations for the job at the blog.

I like to use it because I don't follow every posts here at Eurobricks. So is as simple way of keep a notion what are talked here. Of course the most important and related with trains and town :).

So normally i don't comment because I prefer to do it in my mother tongue (portuguese) at my LUG forum.

I agree with FreeBee and I guess that the blog may not be well known to non-EB members.

I voted for "MOCs from the Lego Community" as it's always good to see what others are building and to learn from them.

I guess a building contest would be great...The success of the Pillage the Village contest is really overwhelming!

I always look at the latest topics. Sometimes i'm also read topics which are part of Classic-Pirates, so Classic Pirates is a part of Eurobricks.

Is it different with Classic town? I once got there last week trying a link on someones comment and I didn't were there before, but it looked nice.

I'm regullary visiting CT.net . I was impressed when i saw Silug (Slobricks) member's Baltazar (Balti) It's great that all communities are cover not only Eurobricks. In that case CT.net would only be a copy of EB trains and town forum. keep up the good work.

Yes. We definately try to span the Lego Community, not just highlighting what's posted on Eurobricks Trains & Town.

At the same time, it would be nice if those appreciating the posts would comment. It's a great feeling to see your MOC blogged and others commenting.

I have to say that I haven't been checking it out lately, but that's not because it's no good, in fact, I think it's a fantastic website.

It's just that most of the MOCs that are blogged there, I've already seen either here on EB or on Flickr and MOCpages. But I will certainly be sure to stop by much more often and comment. :classic:

I voted for building contests, as I think that they are fun and always draw a lot of attention, but MOCs from the community are what keeps a blog going, so don't drop those.

Thanks everyone whom has given their views so far. The Classic Town team treat every opnions seriously and we will like to see our community to support Classic Town by showing us how you feel about it. Thanks!

I check classic-town.net daily, but never commented on the posts. This doesnt mean I dont like them, but had more to do with my password gone missing :P I requested a new one and will occasionally comment....

I am personally most interested in lay-outs, diorama's and city overviews with either mocs, sets or a combination of both

I've taken a look at it, but I've got to admit that I'd never seen it before. I don't really follow all that many blogs other than The Brothers Brick. Those that I do look at every once in a while are some that I've stumbled upon because they showed up in my flickr statistics (which happens if they blog one of my pictures). That's not the case here, quite possibly because I haven't been building many town MOCs here since September (and the oldest entry on the blog is from just before that).

Cheers,

Ralph

Hello, TheBrickster! :sweet:

First of all to my shame I have to admit that I didn't know that there is a forum called Classic-Town.net.

Secondly there are so many forums all over the web which have to do with Lego that a 24h day isn't enough to comment on everything. When I'm surfing through the web when wanting to know something about Lego MOCs and sets it's always EB, BS and brickset. Please don't understand me wrong: I really admire people like you and WhiteFang and all our admins which really do a great job and really work hard. Thank you very much! :sweet:

Thirdly I must acknowledge that I'm offended since you didn't comment on one of my topics since about July - so why should I?! :cry_sad:

But now to the content of the poll:

I voted for MOCs from the Lego Community since I think there are only few people who comment on MOCs of EBers twice - on EB and in another forum. I even think that news about new sets is published the first time on BS, on jedinews (concerning SW) and here on EB - so it would imo make not much sense to add it to your forum since many people would then already have read it.

Imo the best would be to show MOCs from non-EBers and to give building tips.

From what I did now see I must say that you created a very nice, clearly laid out and very well designed forum! The most I like the Christmas MOCs you now show there. :classic:

I read CT once every week and I do find it very useful. I'm not a hard-core city fan, so I like to have the interesting stuff summarized on one blog. On blogs I almost never post comments and prefer the forum for doing so.

Having a link above the forum (next to the Eurobricks Frontpage link - see pirates forum) would be useful to have imo.

I think the Classic-Town.net is a great website, and I view it daily. It takes a lot of work to post all these cool finds and I for 1 appreciate all the work that goes into it! I do find viewing LEGO community MOC's the most enjoyable. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for saying that Badsneaker. I really appreciate the nice feedback.

I check out Classic-Town regularly, and use it more than forums to find new MOCs. Once there is a creation that I would like to comment on, and actually have something constructive to say or ask (not very often), I go to the forum where it was posted instead of commenting on the Blog because there's a higher probability that the creator listens there.

Don't get sad about the few comments - you have a larger audience than you might know.

If only there was a "general discussion" thread on Classic-Town, or something similar where you might give suggestions to stuff to blog, talk about the directions etc., but I guess a similar thread on EB will do just as well.
