Hi BMC,

My advice is to politely ask them again. Bricklink stores range from professional businesses to mild hobbyists, so you never know when a family event or something unexpected might break their stride.

They have answered your email, so that's a good sign.

If you lose patience, or are getting nervous about dealing with a slow responder, let them know you'd like to set a deadline for an invoice or withdraw your order.

Most Bricklink sellers I've come across go out of their way to give good service so hopefully it will work out for you in the end:-)

Cheers,

LLL

Thank you I have just received an invoice from the seller.

When selling minifigs, is it customary to include their weapons and accessories with them?

Most sellers don't sell minifigures with accessories and or weapons. each minifigure has an inventory on bricklink which it is best to go by. If the seller is selling the figure with accessories, s/he will usually state as such.

hope this helps. :classic:

Anyone from NZ use BrickLink and have some advice for a n00b?

Like others posting here I've been confused about shipping but think after reading some Q&A here I can work it out now, but it'd be nice if other kiwis could suggest countries/stores that they have found shipping to be decent at. I'm looking at Friends sets, minidolls and Friend-coloured bricks so most NZ based stores are out.

I have put in about 30 orders the past couple of weeks on bricklink. I am now facing two separate issues.

Issue#1: April 1st, I placed an order from a seller. April 5th rolls around still no invoice. After two emails I final got an email from the seller who said sorry they were facing some personal issues but have all of my parts and ready to ship out first thing in the morning. I replied and said no problem but you cannot ship my items until you send me an invoice to pay. Two more emails and no answer. I checked and it says my email has not be read. I also tried emailing direct and checked my spam folder. I ended up reporting the seller for no response and no invoice. Was this the correct thing to do since I did not pay?

Issue#2: April 1st, I placed and order from another seller. An invoice came in within 12 hours or so, I paid immediately. April 4th I sent an email to the seller asking when will my items be packed and shipped? April 6th sent another email this time I tried sending one direct from email to email instead of through Bricklink messages. Their email system needed me to verify that I was not spam. So I ended up sending the same email through the bricklink messages. I noticed on their feedback someone else complained that they do not answer emails (2200+ positive btw). Since I did pay for this order how much longer should I wait before filing a complaint with PayPal and Bricklink?

This is unfortunate since all of the other sellers orders have been so fast and packed very well.

I have had that occur as well, where a seller just is not motivated to collect money, or to ship the merchandise already paid for. Leave a non-positive feedback is your only ability to let other people know, and to perhaps consider another shop.

Yeah, Brickset's forum as well. They used to share servers, but isn't BL on Amazon's cloud thingy now?

ARGHHH!!!!

I finally took the plunge a few days ago to order some parts, to build a small MOC I made in LDD. I ordered parts from one seller on BL and then found a City set I wanted from another. So, I placed 2 orders, and neither one has contacted me or done anything, as far as I can tell. The brick order had a notice that they were experiencing delays, so I guess it was my own fault ordering from them, but they had the most of the parts I needed. Not sure what is up with the other seller.

I will just be patient, I guess, there is no rush, I just don't like things hanging forever, though.

That sounds like a stroke of bad luck. There may be another answer though. Did you check their store terms? Some sellers have certain restrictions or instructions for new members. Some don't allow orders from people with 0 feedback. Make sure all of that is in order first.

Next thing to try is to contact the seller to see what's up.

And don't wait for a real e-mail, check back and see if you have messages at bricklink.

Sometimes it can take a week. If they are U.S., they might be students facing finals or something... which they should have noted, of course.

If it's been a week, try proactively contacting them. I usually don't start off whining, I'll just say regarding order number whatever, is there s problem?

My orders eventually worked out, they sent my items and no problems.

I have since ordered quite a few things from different sellers and gotten pretty good service from them.

But of course, now, I have place 4 orders, to different sellers and just one of the 4 has processed and shipped. The others are 2 pending, so have done nothing yet, and the 3rd moved to processing, but its now been 3 days, and no movement. That has to be bad luck, to ferret out 3 slow sellers... I even go through all their policies and other info to not use ones that say they are going to take up to a week or more to do an order. A lot of good that did me!

It seems a lot of sellers are not going to bother to post feedback as well. It's hard to accumulate any when you are new.

I hate to say hassle them to give you feedback, but that early feedback is crucial. If everything is done correctly, I'm not sure why they wouldn't post feedback.

From what I've seen, some places post all feedback at a certain time, so for some people there is a longer gap between order-feedback whereas some more recent sales may have feedback that same day (if it was that day they were posting their lot). Other times I've seen people just get too busy and "forget." Often times, if they don't post feedback relatively quick, I send them a quick message saying I have left them positive feedback and I would appreciate positive feedback in return. I mentioned it was a pleasure doing business with them and hope to again in the future. Surprisingly, the feedback happens really quickly. I'm sure they just get caught up in other stuff and then see a reminder regarding feedback, so they think to do it.

Just a thought.

I agree, some get busy and forget to do it, and some do it periodically, it mirrors ebay like that I think. You definitely can tell the sellers that are on the ball though, nice deal from start to finish.

I have started a 'best not use' list for myself of certain sellers. I will wait till end of month and see how things go, if the ones that haven't given any feedback still haven't, I will send a kind reminder.

This is a very random comment and its more idle curiosity than anything, but I've noticed a very odd trend among sellers from the Czech Republic. I've placed Briclink orders from quite a large number of countries - mainly the US and Germany but a whole bunch of others as well including Italy, Denmark, Slovakia, Portugal, Canada, the UK, Hong Kong, the list goes on... and most sellers ship in an envelope or a nondescript brown / USPS box, depending on the size of the order.

The odd thing is, in three separate orders from three separate sellers all from the Czech Republic, orders have arrived in old set boxes with tape or opaque plastic over. Parts were bagged up in the same way as well. Is there some Code of Practice Among Bricklink Sellers in the Czech Republic that instructs sellers to package in the same way, or is this completely random and I should worry about more important things in life, like for example sorting out my thousands upon thousands of loose pieces?

Not sure, but I had this happen a few times, though it wasn't limited to CzR sellers... Frankly, when ordering loose parts, I don't really care how they package it, as long as the shipment arrives complete. Now, that one time I ordered UCS Millennium Falcon, I was worried as hell about the seller's shipping policies :D

IMHO, you should focus on your sweet, sweet worries of sorting out your new pieces ;)

EDIT: I can't grammer.

The reason is stated in shop description sometimes that seller tries to be "green" and re-use existing packaging. Well, and save a penny or two too.

I just got a BL order and the seller reused bags from a Lego set, they had the numbers on them (1, 2, etc) and they had heat sealed them too. So the parts wouldn't fall out. Nice effort :-)

What has me a little annoyed is a seller that has not replied to my shipping cost question for a set I was interested in buying. I asked two separate sellers, one replied right away, the other, it's been a week now, and nothing.

I just had an order with all of the plastic bags sealed together in links (kind of like those air bubble things). Maybe they heat sealed them too then? I've never seen it done before, so I was quite amazed by it. Very nice not needing a zipper I guess.

Does it require special equipment to heat seal?

No, it's fairly cheap gear, like this :

20-100USD from various sources

That's because only on in ten/twenty/or more requests like that ends in a sale, so some sellers won't bother to respond. It's understandable, I think
