John saunters over to the table and has a look underneath. There is nothing there except a few cobwebs. There is however a note on the tabletop which reads as follows:

Staff,

I will not require your services for the next few days; I have some business to attend to tonight and then I will be meeting with some colleagues tomorrow morning and will be out the rest of that day. I want the three course meal I requested served on the table at 7pm sharp, and then you are all free to go.

~C

Meanwhile, Dr. Phil and the Chef go and take a look at the armour. All four sets are similar to the one downstairs and each is in front of a wooden panel inset into the wall. There is nothing behind any of them that you can see. The bases can all be moved, with some effort.

Peter approaches the grand doors and finds them to be unlocked. The doors appear to be of a high craftsmanship, it must have taken years to have them carved and gilded, and even more to get the stones inset. The doors are obviously designed to impress anyone approaching with the wealth of the Lord. You get sore fingers trying to remove some of the expensive gems, but your efforts prove fruitless. You notice that the doors, when closed, portray the image of a single large dragon, with rubies glinting it it's scales and sapphires for it's eyes. Truly a masterpiece in itself.

This house is starting to give me goose-bumps! Just to think we are gathered here to see if we can find the body of the missing owner is downright chilling. And all these armors... I feel like they're staring at me...

Alright, better snap out of it, Susan! I'll just try this west-side door to see if it's locked or not. There's just something that draws me towards it...

It would be interesting to see if there is any evidence of that meal having been served.

Excellent. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that is a particularly important room, the kind we might find something meaningful in. I'd like to suggest that once we finish with this hall, we take a look at what's behind these doors.

Perhaps we should open all doors we find (that can be opened) and make a simple map of the house so we can keep track of where we've been. It'd be just lovely if our host could scribble that down.

Someone in the family was a tacky old bugger, but you must admire the craftsmanship and materials chosen.

Sorry Mr. Sinclaire. I'm a bit paranoid after being with University students for so long. *Looks at Dermot >>*

Are you implying I use suits of armor as toliets? :pir_mad: Well I never!

....Though I could use a potty-break. Lord Dragonator; where's the bathroom? Perhaps it's straight ahead through those large, shiny doors. I say we go that way... and quickly! :pir-grin:

You remember last semester, Senior Prank Day? My suit of 2nd century Classic Castle armor?

There isn't much on it, just cobwebs and just the note from Lord Chester. I would like to search the immediate area in case something fell from the table.

Anthony walks up to the large doors to inspect the dragon. He notices that it is very similar in appearance to the small circular seal on the right shoulder plate of all the suits of armour, expect of course that it is a lot bigger and is depicted with precious gems and gilded wood.

It appears to be looking towards the west wall...

John has a good look on the floor around the small table and finds a tiny key which could easily have slipped off the edge unnoticed. But what could it be for?

Once you have all finished looking around here we can continue through one of the three doors, the west door, the east door, or the north doors. All three appear to be unlocked.

I'll just pocket this key for now, keep it safe with me. I wonder what it belongs to.

I suggest we move on. seems like we're finished here. We should go to the west wall, the way the dragon is facing.

John, give me a minute. I will like to take a closer look at the chandelier. Perhaps, someone could give me a hand or push a chair for me, so I can climb up.

Posted

Has someone already moved all the armor sets to make sure there's nothing under them? If not I'd like to do that, as well as search the armor itself before we move on.

John gives Dr. Phil a lift to look at the chandelier. The chandelier appears to be made of fine cut crystal and the central section appears to be covered in thousands of small diamond, enhancing the light considerably. Other than this you cannot see anything of note.

Michael decides to take a look at the four suits of armour. They are all identical to the one downstairs, and as the Professor said earlier, they are priceless. You look inside each of them, but you cannot see anything suspicious. As discovered earlier, they can be moved with some effort. There is nothing underneath any of them.

Thanks John! That chandelier must worth a bomb, with all that shiny diamonds. There is nothing which interest me at this moment. Perhaps, we should head towards the western wall, as suggested by John. What do the rest thinks?

The group go back down stairs and try the key in the lock. It is far to small to fit. They return back up stairs to face the three doors and the piercing stare of the dragon.

So now what? Is it to be the west doors, like some of you have suggested? Or the east ones? Or perhaps the large northern pair? Or are you not finished looking here yet? The choice is yours people, chose wisely, for this mystery is just starting to get interesting...

I agree, we should head west. I can't explain it, but something pulls me towards it... Something I just barely can't remember...

Posted

I'm fine with west, though I would simply like to open all of the doors and peer into the rooms for a moment, just to see if anything catches the eye.

Probably the key to an old chest (a pirate's chest perhaps :pir_laugh2: ).

I'll follow Sandy and the rest of the group west after Pete snoops around a bit.

I'll check the wooden panels quick, just to make sure they aren't compartments.

Moving to the West then sounds good to me, but I'd like to try Peter Crawford's idea of opening all the doors first.
