Where's Baby Jesus?

I'm not sure I like the walls that way. If there is a way to flip, at least the back wall, around, I think it would be much better.

Perhaps Mary is still with child? Great scene, and Merry Christmas

Thanks for the comments. Pics of the walls should be up by tomorrow morning...

Well, if I know my catechism, Jesus should be put in the crib on the 25th at midnight :pir-wink:

@ Athos - I'll try to post pics of a turned back wall tomorrow, along with the others :pir-sweet:

great creation.

really resemble the humble birth of Jesus Christ.

maybe some goats or lambs to add the scene. just my two cents.

Ah, I see. As a good protestant, I don't know the catechism... :pir_laugh2:

Excellent. I look forward to it. The walls are quite interestingly done. You could even stick some more greenery on them to make it more colorful.

Quite a lovely MOC, Luxor! :pir-grin:

However, may I offer the slight suggestion of widening it and adding some livestock? :pir-wink:

Also, I love the head idea for Joseph but I'd suggest using Rex's head as most of us recognize Joseph(heck, almost everyone in the Bible! :pir-laugh: ) as having a beard but in the interest of fairness and sticking with your head idea that head in particular would fill the gap nicely. :pir-sweet:

Let's start with the wall-on-grill structure pic:

Then we add a bit of greenery on the sides:

And we end with the turned back wall and the Rex head (thanks for the advice, trooperdavinfelth  ; I must admit I just used the first Clone head I had at hand :pir-blush: ):

Thanks for the comments, and for the advices, too. As you will see when the gallery will be public again, I made this as a vignette, so I tried to stick to the 8x8 limit. I recognize that a bit more of 'ambient features' would add to the scene, but I didn't want to over-populate the vig :pir-wink:

Maybe next time... :pir-classic:

OK, that looks a lot better. You really did that nicely. :pir-classic:

I'd just say ONE teeny tiny nitpick which I hope you won't mind:

Egypt is in the desert, so... Sand perhaps? Or a palm tree? :pir-wink:

I'm not sure my greenery idea was such a good idea now. I do like the walls with the studs out though. I wonder if black ladders would look better... probably not. Maybe you could hook some foliage onto the ladders, using a doc-ock claw piece.

I'd also maybe stick a chrome gold disk up under the peak of the roof to be the star.

Then all you need are some brickforge animals and you're all set.

Pardon my ignorance (I'm not religiously oblivious), but who are the two people standing, and what is that small gray thing in the middle? I'm not trying to sound overly critical, I'm just a little clueless.

Oh, by the way, I love the wall design, it's really neat and well-constructed

Well, Bethlehem isn't really in Egypt. They went to Egypt later, after the Magi visited them...

On the other hand, Bethlehem too was probably quite sandy at the time... But I prefer to limit the view to the hovel only :pir-look: .

Thanks again for the comments and suggestions. The golden disk/star will come in soon (but not too soon: it's still on the way, with the Magi on its tail).

As for the rear, it's not meant to be shown, so I think I'll keep it as it is :pir-wink:

Thanks for the comment on the walls' structure.

The two people are Joseph and Mary, and the grey thing in the middle is the crib Jesus was put into at birth.

Ok, since I don't know how much time for photographing and photoshoping I'll have in the next few days, here we go with the last update to this vig, with Baby Jesus finally appearing:

note the star (and it's not-so-easily-visible tail :oh3: )

As for Jesus head, I had to use Mutt's since the random fleshie head (random Indy soldier and Racer-X's one, just to make a few examples) seemed too adult, and I don't have any other proper fleshie head...

Merry Christmas everybody!
