The Batman had a great Joker

Funny. I actually thought that the Joker was the worst part of that series. :sceptic: He seemed to be just a punk like any other, and his new style didn't appeal to me at all. I always refer to him as "the Bob-Marley Joker".

Wasn't it just beautiful? And do you have any doubt of the Joker's new voice now after that torture scene?

Well, I still don't think that that voice fits The Joker, but it was OK for a parallel Joker, aka. Red Hood.

I mightily disagree with you on that scene, as things that reminisce of BTAS too much will be betraying the point of this show. That said, it did its job wonderfully while still fitting the tone.

I only said that it reminded me of BTAS. Of course it still wasn't anything like BTAS, but you have to admit that this scene (and this whole episode) got closer to the tone of BTAS than any other in this show, whether intended or not.

It WAS a Pink Wildcat, and no that was not a mistake. In fact, for me that is a stroke of genius! Every character is a similar yet opposite counterpart in that universe, so the tough talking old-school Wild Cat here is a much softer, shall we say Pussycat?

 Yeah, but his "real" world counterpart isn't really all that tough. It's mostly in his head. So, that means that this parallel Wildcat isn't very menacing in appearance and attitude, but is a tough foe nevertheless. :look:

But still... Imagine an attack from this "villain":

"Oh no! Look out, there comes the evil oldtimer with his Hello Kitty costume!"

Btw, if you take a look at the character list on the BTBTB wikipedia page, you'll see that his name is in fact "Pussycat".

*Batman typically punching Green Arrow's counterpart given their rivalry in his universe

Yes, I quite liked that part too! I was almost expecting to hear one of Batsy's thought-monologues saying something like "Always wanted to punch him in the face!"

I guess that Owlman and Blue Bowman are best buddies and no rivals at all, so that's why that punch gave Blue Bowman the hint that Batman wasn't the real Owlman.

*Red Hood's origin is totally faithful! And really inspiring too.

Agreed! It would have been nice, though, if they would have explained why exactly he didn't go insane. I mean, there is nothing that went differently in the parallel Joker's life than in that of the real one which would have caused him to regain sanity. :sceptic:

*And best of lal the potshot at Marvel with universe 161 being Zombe planet, as the main Marvel universe is reversed as 616, so basically they are indirectly calling Marvel readers zombies! I approve

:oh3: Woah! I would have never guessed that! You really are a comic geek!

Isn't that a little far fetched, though?

I guess not, since it would make sense. If it's true, I agree that this is quite a clever joke!

Hmm... I liked Batman Beyond, even though it tanked a bit with nerdy fans... i liked his depiction in Justice League... I guess I'll dl this and see what's what.

But I'm turnin' tail the SECOND I see The Joker as a beast man jumping aroun... oh wait, that was the last Batman series...

You'll come around by the next part I know, you just nee a little help pulling yourself out of Hamill nostalgia. We all do

I only said that it reminded me of BTAS. Of course it still wasn't anything like BTAS, but you have to admit that this scene (and this whole episode) got closer to the tone of BTAS than any other in this show, whether intended or not.

Ah I see. I think it only felt that way because so many things inherently Batman arrived in this episode. Gotham, the Batcave, Red Hood, darker scenes, these are really things that would appear in any cartoon. For instance, much as I love BTAS, the writers would never think of closing in on Red Hood's eye as he just manages to pull himself back from oblivion, which was a great touch I thought. BTAS just never did anything like that. Similar circumstances yes, but the execution was much different I believe, especially since BT&TB refuses to show his face.

So as you say, it was like BTAS without being anything like BTAS so to speak, which was very neat.

 Yeah, but his "real" world counterpart isn't really all that tough. It's mostly in his head. So, that means that this parallel Wildcat isn't very menacing in appearance and attitude, but is a tough foe nevertheless. :look:

Ha! I was right!

On a side note, I really hope Fire gets her own episode. She kicked all kinds of Gentleman Ghost butt in the Plastic Man ep and even with her alternate counterpart Blaze too. I really hope she atleast gets her own teaser anyway, espeically since female guest stars are a bit lacking so far. Luckily Huntress and Black Canary are confirmed to appear.

Yes, I quite liked that part too! I was almost expecting to hear one of Batsy's thought-monologues saying something like "Always wanted to punch him in the face!"

Yeah, good notice there. I also liked Dyna-Mite's little bit. It seemed Batman underestimated that though Owlman is a jerk, he is as loyal to his teammates as Batman is to his.

Agreed! It would have been nice, though, if they would have explained why exactly he didn't go insane. I mean, there is nothing that went differently in the parallel Joker's life than in that of the real one which would have caused him to regain sanity. :sceptic:

It's because since he was a hero and not a cowardly villain, his will was strong enough to grab hold of his sanity and keep it, instead of Earth 23's Red Hood who becomes the Joker. Really well thought out in retrospect actually.

No trust me, it is meant for Marvel. Especially since Batman's Earth in TB&TB is Earth 23, and Owlman's is 32: Reversed. It is merely a reversing of Marvel's universe to call them essentially zombie readers.

Apparently the crowd at comic con where it was first aired had an uproar of laughter upon hearing it, those companies are always taking potshots at each other

Also, new info on the episode after next, which airs straight the week after, beginning season 2:

Mystery Space - Batman takes a depressed Aquaman with him to space on a voyage. Sorry, that's a little paraphrased as I can't be bothered finding the source. At this point we know nothing of the villain though.

What are you talking about? Are you referring to the Bob-Marley Joker?

It seemed Batman underestimated that though Owlman is a jerk, he is as loyal to his teammates as Batman is to his.

I can't blame him. This Universe is so confusing! In a way, the heroes and villains are the exact opposite of their real Earth counter parts, but then again, they're kinda not.

It's because since he was a hero and not a cowardly villain, his will was strong enough to grab hold of his sanity and keep it, instead of Earth 23's Red Hood who becomes the Joker. Really well thought out in retrospect actually.

Hm, I see what you mean.

Also, in this parallel Joker's case, he was dropped into the chemicals on purpose, not on accident. This way he had a much higher desire to get revenge, and he must have known that in order to be able to pay Owlman back, he had to stay sane.

Aquaman again? :hmpf: He is so lame. :hmpf_bad: Besides, what the heck is he gonna do in space? :sceptic: There is no water and no sea creatures for him to boss around.

Oh well. It's still Batman In Space. That's always good, right?

The week after, you say? :oh: That's good news! The first season of The Clone Wars ends soon too, but the second one wont start until fall! :hmpf_bad: So, I was getting worried that this would be the case with BTBTB as well and that I wont have anything to watch for the next few months. But if you're right, I will at least have Batsy and his friends to keep me entertained.

WHAAAT!?

What's wrong with Aquaman? He's awesome! Infact, I wish the comics Aquaman was like this, instead of being like the JL angsty Namor ripoff.

But yes, it'll be great to go back to space, I hope Adam Strange pops up.

I agree, I'm really glad the "second" season starts straight away.

Awesomesauce news by the way, there will be a Batmite episode (think Mr Mxyzptlk off Superman TAS) written by Paul Dini! I can't wait!

There will also be another Blue Beetle episode that is apparantly "quite dirty than (he's) surprised it got past the censors".

There will also be a musical! I've always wanted a musical! It's a dream come true!

Yeah, probably some nerdy accountant or something.

I'm guessing there is a universe for that too.

WHAAAT!? What's wrong with Aquaman?

He's an egoistic bird-brain whose best power is it to make animals do the dirty work for him. :hmpf_bad: And he is pretty much powerless on land. What kind of a hero is that!

At least this version of Aquaman seems to have some muscles, so in the worst case scenario, he can use his fists to fight. But he's still pretty lame IMO. :sadnew:

Hm... I have not heard of this "Batmite" before. I just read the wiki-article about him, and he kinda reminds me of Larry from the Teen Titans episode "Fractured". That episode was weird and kinda stupid, so I'm kinda skeptic about Batmite. :sceptic: But since BTBTB is a little more sophisticated than TT, I hope it'll be an enjoyable ep. :classic:

Not that TT was a bad show, of course. Sure, it had some strange episodes from time to time, but some of the episodes were really good, like that season finale with the Brotherhood of Evil!

There will also be a musical!

WTF!?!

OK, I'm sorry, but this is just getting worse for me! :hmpf_bad: Again, I have faith in BTBTB being a good show, but a musical is kinda pushing it. :sceptic: We'll see.

There will also be another Blue Beetle episode that is apparantly "quite dirty than (he's) surprised it got past the censors".

Now that's more like it! :sweet: The Blue Beetle is a pretty cool character, and the idea of "dirty" episode with him sounds pretty good to me! Can't wait!

Now that's a pretty sad generalisation isn't it? I can call Batman an angsty emo loner with no powers but we know he's more than that. Aquaman may be egotistic but he's been portrayed as being smarter than he lets on, and he does have a heart of gold. Plus he isn't useless on land, he has superstrength, otherwise he wouldn't survive so far down in the water. Not to mention as a kind he's a class A fighter in close combat

By the by, I also really like Teen Titans, the Slade and Trigon arcs were the best, flipping awesome. Plus they had the best animated Robin.

I don't get how a "dirty" episode is appealing, I tend to lean to the theory that innuendo is a very poor case of humour. I really got sick of it in the DCAU, especially with JLU which simply couldn't stop it. However, I have a heap of faith in the show as it hasn't put a foot wrong yet.

Also, new info. This is not confirmed so don't wring me by the neck if it isn't true, but apparently it is legit. But don't hold your breath (or mine)

Trials of the Demon!

Summary: In 19th century London, Jason Blood -- aka The Demon Etrigan -- has been framed for supernatural attacks perpetrated by Gentleman Ghost

Sounds awesome, I'm really glad Etrigan is returning, he didn't get much time in Day of the Dark Knight. Also, a very clever way to bring back Gentleman Ghost, by having him in the past.

Nope. And never will. I like Superman about as much as Aquaman. Don't ask me why.

By the by, I also really like Teen Titans, the Slade and Trigon arcs were the best, flipping awesome. Plus they had the best animated Robin.

Word! Too bad they canceled it. It really annoyed me that they never finished that story about Terra reappearing. :hmpf_bad:

What's wrong with a musical? Musicals are awesome when done right.

Being a big-time Disney fan and having enjoyed many musicals like the ones by Andrew Lloyd Webber, I completely agree with you! As long as they do it right, I have no problem with it. The idea of a Batman musical just seems strange, but as I said, this show has already managed to be both strange and good at the same time in several occasions, so I'm not too worried. :classic:

Plus Batman sung twice in the DCAU.

Really? :look: When?

Trials of the Demon!

Summary: In 19th century London, Jason Blood -- aka The Demon Etrigan -- has been framed for supernatural attacks perpetrated by Gentleman Ghost

Meh. I'm not a big fan of The Demon, and since this plays in the 19th century, it could be that Batsy wont even appear in this ep. Then again, he does time-travel a lot in this show. We'll see.

*Looks up "innuendo" in the dictionary*:tongue:

Well, it depends on what your definition of dirty is in this case. To me, it sounded as if there would be more violence in that episode than in others, which would be a good thing (IMO at least). However, you might be right that the dirtiness could be verbal which, as you suggested, might not be so nice. :sceptic: I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Besides, what's wrong with innuendos? They are partly what made relatively popular shows like Spongebob or Ren & Stimpy so great. And aren't Batman's thought-monologues in this show full of innuendos? For example, when he said/thought "I thought they'd never leave!" after Aquaman and The Atom disappeared into his body?

Or do I still not fully understand the meaning of this word?

Btw, I have unfortunately not seen any of the JL shows either. :cry_sad: I'm just starting to get into the DCAU, and the only things I've seen so far is the complete BTAS series (including The New Batman Adventures), most of TT, a couple of The Batman episodes (including the season finales about The Joining), and the first two seasons of BB. That, plus the movies Phantasm, Batwoman, Batman VS. Dracula, Return of the Joker, TT: Trouble in Tokyo, JL: The New Frontier, and The Justice League Movie. And BTBTB of course. The third (and last) season of BB is next on my to-watch list, and after that, I might give The Batman a second try. Also, I still need to see "The Batman/Superman Movie". Is it any good? (I know it must be some good as it features Mark Hamill Joker! :sweet:)

Any other recommendations?

Well, I guess you're right. Let's just say I don't like him.

Lol... "angsty emo loner"...

Fair enough. Though mind you, this is why I like Batman's supporting cast better than the man himself, he just angsts and can't shut up about his parent's death a lot of the time. Maybe if his parents were raped, killed, raped and then eaten in front of him I'd sympathise, but one can only stand so many "You wouldn't understand, my parents are dead!" moments

Nope. And never will. I like Superman about as much as Aquaman. Don't ask me why.

I wasn't going to ask you. Instead I'll tell you that you're really missing out on something spectacular. Lord Darkseid is one of the greatest animated villains ever, better than the Joker in my opinion:

*Supes after punching Darkseid*

"That for -dead friend-!"

"Who?"

"The good man you murdered!"

"Had I known one human's death would pain you so I would've killed thousands more"

*Beats the crap out of Superman, then drags him up by collar*

"And kill more I shall, take that agony with you to oblivion Superman"

Word! Too bad they canceled it. It really annoyed me that they never finished that story about Terra reappearing. :hmpf_bad:

Actually, they weren't planning on continuing the Terra story at all, and I like it that way believe it or not. The last ep was made after they knew the show was finished, so that's why it was titled "Thing's change", to show the fans that things do indeed change and that the show's time was up. The random monster in the ep symbolised that despite locking up so many villains in the previous episode, the Titans would always be needed. Also Terra turned back from a statue was explained subtly, just watch The End Part 3 and you might see it

Oh yeah, I agree with you, if it goes wrong it goes horribly wrong

But I have enough faith in Batman (and musicals!) to believe it will be great. Plus I'm guessing there will be a reason for them music, such as a magic happenstance.

Really? :look: When?

"Am I Blue!" in My Little Piggy ep of JLU which was fantastic, and in Out of the Past in Batman Beyond.

Meh. I'm not a big fan of The Demon, and since this plays in the 19th century, it could be that Batsy wont even appear in this ep. Then again, he does time-travel a lot in this show. We'll see.

Of course Batman will be in this ep, the show is all about Batman teaming up with others. I personally love the Demon, such a great Kirby creation. Plus he speaks in rhyme, that's just cool. Oh, and its confirmed now too which is great.

*Looks up "innuendo" in the dictionary*:tongue:

I disagree that more violence could be good unless you mena under a specific circumstance, that could just make it "Dakrer and Edgier."

Actually I am referring to sexual innuendo though sorry

As in this scene on JLU:

Hawkman: I miss the dress.

Hawkgirl: You didn't miss it last night.

Subtle. But even then it may be on occasion funny, but JLU especially just went overboard with the concept. That said, a one off episode with Blue Beetle could be hilarious if just for that ep and not the whole series like JLU.

Did you like The New Frontier?

As for your other questions:

The Batman/Superman movie is great but it is actually a three part episode from Superman TAS, so it looks like you'll have to break your vow on watching it

There are actually five episodes of Superman TAS where he and Bats teamup.

Gotham Knight quite good, some segments are amazing, and only one is really a dud. Superman Tas (sorry) is wonderful, especially the Brainiac and Darkseid arcs (you HAVE to watch them before JL or you won't get the depth of things).

Also, fantastic news! B:TB&TB has been renewed for another 26 episode season next year! Yes! That makes 52 eps all up. Only one ep clue though, where Red Tornado builds a son. I'm predicting a sad ending.

Meh. It had it's moments. Those moments include Supes getting his butt kicked in a matter of seconds  and Green Lantern and The Flash being the ones to save everyone's sorry behinds. (Batman is cool, but when it comes to true power, nothing can beat super-speed and all-powerful bling! ) However,

Aquaman rising out of the water like some kind of freaking angel with Supes in his arms at the end

was not one of those moments.

Also, I had a hard time getting used to Bats' voice. :sceptic:

I know. :hmpf: Oh well.

There are actually five episodes of Superman TAS where he and Bats teamup.

I know that too, but I like Supes too little to care.

Gotham Knight quite good, some segments are amazing, and only one is really a dud.

Oops! Forgot to list that one! Yes, I know what you mean by "amazing segments". That scene where he walks out of the fire, looking all badass, was just cool! Which one is the dud IYO?

Btw, I also forgot to list Superman: Doomsday. Yes, I admit, I watched a Superman movie  but I did it because I wanted to see him getting his butt kicked and bite the dust! But I was disappointed since he didn't really die. :hmpf_bad::tongue: It was pretty cool, though.

At this point, I'd like to clarify my dislike for Superman. He is just too... perfect. :sceptic: I mean, he has all these super-duper powers and only one or two weaknesses. So as long as no Kryptonite or Lois are involved, he will always win a fight eventually. Where's the fun in that? Also, fighting is about the only thing he does (from what I've seen). It seems to me that he's all muscle and little brain, and that most of his enemies are much smarter than him. And I'm a guy who likes his heroes to be believable, but Super's powers are anything but believable, and the explaining these powers simply by saying that he's from a different planet doesn't do it for me. His name sounds corny too, if you think about it. But what annoys me most about him, though, is his secret identity. I mean, COME ON! The only thing that makes Clark look different from Supes are his glasses! I was so glad that Lois finally figured it out in Doomsday.

But this is all just my opinion, and I guess that S:TAS could change my mind about that.

Superman Tas (sorry) is wonderful, especially the Brainiac and Darkseid arcs (you HAVE to watch them before JL or you won't get the depth of things).

Fine! :hmpf::tongue: If you insist, I'll ask my friend who has the first season to lend it to me and I'll watch it.

Also, fantastic news! B:TB&TB has been renewed for another 26 episode season next year! Yes! That makes 52 eps all up. Only one ep clue though, where Red Tornado builds a son. I'm predicting a sad ending.

Why do I have the feeling that you're just making all these "news" up? Would be nice if you could at least state your source.

Anyway, that's good to hear. Also, that ep sounds interesting, and you're making an interesting prediction.

What's gonna be the little guy's name? Red Breeze?

Whew! Our posts keep getting longer! But I have to say that I enjoy our conversations. Hope the feeling is mutual.

No, I meant as in a powerful magic based villain (perhaps a silly one?) could result with a world where life is a musical. Its the only idea I've got

Just watched it previous to posting this actually. I really love it. I didn't at first, it's the kinda film that gets better each time. Bat's voice was pretty epic, exactly as I imagine Golden Age 1940s/50s Batman to sound. THe thing I love most was how every hero got their moment to help defeat the Centre, and how it's tied up with that inspirational speech by Kennedy. How come you guys don't have any presidents like that anymore?

Oops! Forgot to list that one! Yes, I know what you mean by "amazing segments". That scene where he walks out of the fire, looking all badass, was just cool! Which one is the dud IYO?

The first one. Not because of the writing, but just because it was done before in TNBA, but better. And the animation was beautiful, but the character's mouths were awful, like they were eating instead of talking! Another problem I had was that certain parts were just dark for the sake of dark, which is why I felt restrictions nad censors actually do Batman a lot of good sometimes.

I can understand this. I disagree of course, but I know how you feel because I've been there. I started out as a Batman fan only, and especially despised Supes because he just seemed Godlike. Then I began with Superman TAS, and then some comics (not the ones that portray him as Godlike which are rare, but still pretty powerful) and then I realised, his being so powerful is the point. He's this God sent from the heavens to help guide man, but they won't listen to him. He is considered this omnipotent good doer who can't fail when he's just that kid from Kansas. He can't connect to the world, but he tries anyway, and he tries to save it, no matter what it throws at him. He's pretty darn smart also, otherwise he wouldn't be such a clever reporter. There's a great comic where he tries to find a way to truly help man and poverty too, by Paul Dini, star writer of BTAS. That said, kryptonite is overrated, it is actually very rare and usually only Luthor gets his hands on it. Metallo is powered by it but he's almost as strong as Superman. Brainiac is just as powerful and is nearly impossible to outsmart, and Darkseid is far more godlike than Superman could ever imagine. Its all relative, he's actually stuck between a rock and a hard place. But he endures.

Fine! :hmpf::tongue: If you insist, I'll ask my friend who has the first season to lend it to me and I'll watch it.

Good

Why do I have the feeling that you're just making all these "news" up? Would be nice if you could at least state your source.

Anyway, that's good to hear. Also, that ep sounds interesting, and you're making an interesting prediction.

What's gonna be the little guy's name? Red Breeze?

I''l send a link soon, I have to get off the computer sorry, but trust me, I thank you for chatting with me and do love to hear your opinion!

Batbrick Away!

I watched "Game Over for Owlman" yesterday. I almost missed it because it aired at 8:30 instead of the usual 8:00, but I noticed the change just in time to reset my TiVo. Anyway, I really like this episode! In fact, I think it's my favorite episode so far.The Joker, even though he still seems a bit strange to me, has almost grown on me, and I found myself enjoying him a lot! He is the funniest Joker I have ever seen. I laughed so hard at that bunny-ears-on-Batman's-shadow gag! Brilliant! The "Joker & Batsy's Good Times" montage was very nice too! I really wish we'll see more of him in this show.

What I also liked was the alternate Batmen! :sweet: Those guys were a stroke of genius! Each one of them seemed to be representing one of the Dark Knight's traits (strength, intelligence, bravery, cunning, bat-liness, etc.). My favorite was the Zorro-Batman. What I don't understand, though, is what that Batman with the little red eyes was supposed to be. At first, I thought, he was some kind of robot, but then he started flying and stuff. Anybody have an idea?

No, I meant as in a powerful magic based villain (perhaps a silly one?) could result with a world where life is a musical. Its the only idea I've got

Oh, I see. Yeah, I guess that would be possible. We'll see.

The thing I love most was how every hero got their moment to help defeat the Centre, and how it's tied up with that inspirational speech by Kennedy.

Seconded!

How come you guys don't have any presidents like that anymore?

Tell me about it! :hmpf::tongue: But I think we're moving into the right direction again.

The first one. Not because of the writing, but just because it was done before in TNBA, but better.

I understand. However, I do not agree. The version of Legends of The Dark Knight in Gotham Knight was much better IMHO, mostly because the animation was much more realistic and because the stories were much cooler. The TNBA version only showed a cheesy 50's style version of Batman and some kind of weird Rambo/Resident Evil style Batman. As I mentioned before, I found those to be quite awkward. The GK version on the other hand showed three very interesting alterations of the Caped Crusader: A living shadow, a Man-Bat, and an android. How cool is that! But since you are such a comic fan, I can understand that you liked the 50's style Batman thing a lot.

Btw, I just watched that TNBA episode, and the Joker & Batman looked almost exactly like they do in BTBTB! :sweet: I wonder if Robin will look anything like he did in that episode should he ever make an appearance in BTBTB. :look: But I hope not, since the shorts he was wearing were way too short.:laugh:

And the animation was beautiful, but the character's mouths were awful, like they were eating instead of talking!

That's Anime for ya! :hmpf: I really dislike that type of limited animation too. :sadnew: Usually, that's almost the only thing anime characters do - chewing. :hmpf_bad: That, combined with bad English dubbing, is my definition of Anime. I respect it as an art form, but that doesn't mean I need to like it. However, there are exceptions (such as Otomo's works), and Gotham Knight is definitely one of them. It's beautifully done while still remaining the Anime style.

Aha. Interesting. I think I'm starting to understand now. Thanks for that lecture in Supermanology, Dr. Batbrick!:grin: And it seems like I'm stepping into your footsteps in becoming a DC fan, so I guess I will have that enlightenment soon myself.

That said, kryptonite is overrated, it is actually very rare and usually only Luthor gets his hands on it.

Don't forget Batman!

But yeah, I don't need to know much about Superman to know that kryptonite is overrated. In fact, it's one of those facts that make me dislike Supes so much right now since it makes him seem even more invincible. But as I said, that will probably change as soon as I watch STAS. :classic:

Speaking of STAS: I have watched the episode "Knight Time" on YouTube. I quite liked it!

I'm looking forward to the next episode of BTBTB. I had never heard of Adam Strange before, but his character intrigued me when I watched The New Frontier, so I'm looking forward to learning more about him! :sweet:

Anybody have an idea?

I know! Game Over for Owlman was freakin' awesome! Definitely the best episode yet :cry_happy:

Joker was brilliant, I loved his "To the Batmobile!" line, as well as his betraying everyone at the end. Hope fully he'll pop up more on the show. I also loved that the writer touched upon Joker's obsession to be the one who ills Batman too "No way Bat-fake! He's mine! It's my destiny to take out the Caped Crusader!" *machine whirs* "Drat."

The final fight was spectacular too, and Owlman was great, and well voiced.

This was a whopping treat to Batman comic fans everywhere, with so much fancandy it's ridiculous. Here's some I noticed:

*Owlman's costume is based off the very first Batman design, which also had purple gloves. He also killed criminals and carried a gun like at the end of the ep, which was awesome.

*Owlman's first appearance in this episode with his cape swishing up is a reference to the famous panel of Bruce becoming Batman from the very first Batman comic.

*Batman having spider holes all over comics is from current continuity where he has miniature caves and escape route contingencies over Gotham.

*Not a reference, but I found it hilarious that Plasticman's assistance was not needed because his friends knew he'd try to pocket the money.

*Another not-reference, but Batman appearing out of a hot dog stand, which then revealed itself to be on wheels was hilariously mind boggling.

*The Jokermobile is a real car in the comics, one that was used very often in the 50's, last appearing in the classic Joker story "Dreadful Birthday, Dear Joker".

*Joker robbing a jewelry store was a very common event in the 50's Silver Age stories.

*Batman's "Stop" to the car is a reference to the Batman 1989 movie where he does the same thing.

*The 40's Batmobile complete with Batface on front! Oh goodness. I never expected to this animated, I'm so happy!

*The Batcave is very similar to Dick Sprang's one form the 50's, as well as Adam West's one from the 60's show.

*All the Joker traps including the giant clam are form the 60's Adam West show.

*Batman's contingency plans are taken from the JLA story Tower of Babel, by Mark Waid, in which Ra's Al Ghul steals these files and uses them similarly.

*"To the Batmobile!" I don't need to tell you about that one do I?

*The Batcave's roadsign entrance and cave door is directly from the 60's Adam West show.

*Owlman's freeze gun looks very similar to the old Mr Freeze gun.

*Joker calling Owlman "Batfake" is what he also calls Terry in the Batman Beyond movie.

*"The Owl Signal!" It's just cool  Also loved Owlman's pun filled moustache twirling villain speeches to the captured heroes. Very Silver Age-ish.

*The Batmen details as requested:

-Pirate Batman is from an Elseworlds Batman story called Batman: Leatherwing.

-The Huge Batman is Bathulk. Yes, you read that right, Bathulk. From the original Brave and the Bold comic series.

-Vampire Batman is from Batman: Red Rain, an Elseworld's story where he becomes a vampire and fights Dracula.

-Not sure on the Iron Man style one sorry, but may be a nod to Iron Man himself with his identical repulsor beams.

-The big headed Batman is a reference to a famous Flash comic run which I sadly haven't read.

-Not sure on the Cowboy Batman either, but he looks cool.

There were a few other homages, but that is the bulk of them. I think you can really appreciate the writing when you realise just how much thought was put into it, as well as so much input from so many Batman mediums that really show the creators care about the character and his history.

I can understand that, though I heavily disagree with the Anime thing. Anime, just like western animation, has many diverse styles and cannot be stereotyped under one recognition. In fact, my favourite show ever, Cowboy Bebop, is a total masterpiece, and it is totally different from the standard cliches of anime. That said, I agree that one particular style of anime is being heavily overused nowadays.

I hope Robin appears, and he will. He's already scheduled, and he's voiced by Zaxhary Gordon, voice of the Young Bruce Wayne in this series as well. The "Resident Evil" style Batman you mentioned is actually based on The Dark Knight Returns, made more kid friendly of course, which is widely recognised as one of the best graphic novels of all time. So I wouldn't diss it if I were you, as a swarm of angry geeks will pounce

Yeah, trust me, I hated him too. And you might not ever bthink he's brilliant, but I think once you start watching STAS and seeing his better appearances, you'll atleast get to know that he's a fairly good character. And trust me, there's nothing better than knowing the wider DC universe, it's awesome, as long as you don't try to talk about it to your friends

Oh, and Knight time is great, I love how easily Bane was taken down after all that hard work!

I'm looking forward to the next episode of BTBTB. I had never heard of Adam Strange before, but his character intrigued me when I watched The New Frontier, so I'm looking forward to learning more about him! :sweet:

I'll be honest, I know very little about Adam Strange so I'm looking forward to this too. I nkow he's a human who was transported to the planet Rann and became it's protector, marrying a woman there called Alanna. That's it  But he sure looks great, and I never tire of Bender voiced Aquaman. also the teaser features the Question, one of the best characters ever.

Speaking of, I remember your want of having a story arc eventually other than just random teamups. Thoughi t could be argued this happened in Season 1 with its lead up to Owlman's tow parter, the producers have stated that Season two will have an arc, and by the looks of the teaser, it starts pretty soon!

Thanks to this thread, it made me curious about this new Batman series of which I've never previously heard of.

...and it's awesome! When I was a little kid I used to watch the classic Adam West series that would be broadcast here in the early 90's, and this reminds me of it to some degree. But what I like the most is the slightly cheesy humour the series has, paying homage to what Batman originally was.* Love that.

* - I'm not that much of a fan, to know the in-depth of the original Batman. But I still recognise some of it.

It is great isn't it? I love that it shows that Batman doesn't have ot be dark to be great. It really homages the Adam West days too which is awesome. Will you keep watching?

Yeah, and him using the "Bat-fake" nickname from BB was pretty neat too! :sweet: However, I found it somewhat controversial that he was tempted to trap Batman by simply pushing a button, considering what he said in the TNBA episode "Mad Love" - "Defeating the Bat has to be a masterpiece, a triumph of my comic genius over his silly gadgets!" (or something like that). But since this was only about trapping him, and not killing him, I guess it's OK.

I loved the Jokermobile btw! :sweet: I have to MOC this baby some day!

This was a whopping treat to Batman comic fans everywhere, with so much fancandy it's ridiculous.

I'll have to take your word for it, but yes, I do believe it was quite a treat for fans.

Hm... Bathulk? Iron Bat? I thought DC & Marvel were rivals? :sceptic:

Oh well, it made for a good ep, so I don't care.

That's true. And yes, Cowboy Bebop was one of the better animes. My favorite anime, however, is still Lupin III (if that one can be considered an anime).

I hope Robin appears, and he will. He's already scheduled, and he's voiced by Zaxhary Gordon, voice of the Young Bruce Wayne in this series as well. I'm not dissing it; I'm just saying it was portrayed somewhat strangely.

Speaking of, I remember your want of having a story arc eventually other than just random teamups. Thoughi t could be argued this happened in Season 1 with its lead up to Owlman's tow parter, the producers have stated that Season two will have an arc, and by the looks of the teaser, it starts pretty soon!

I don't think I ever said that  but yes, that is good to hear.

Yes, if probably not chronologically - I'm kinda limited to the internet and what I might find, when it comes to TV-series.

That's OK. All the episodes, except the last two, were random stories and had little continuity.

I'm glad that Batbrick, Penguin, and I aren't the only EBers to watch this show anymore.

@ Batbrick: Btw, I just watched another Batman-teamup STAS episode, "The Demon Reborn". I really liked it! Batsy showed off some cool moves in that ep and Ras Al Ghul (or "Rash" Al Ghul as they call him :hmpf: ) stealing Supes' powers was an interesting story. Kinda makes you wonder (and hope) if Ras will make an appearance in BTBTB. :sweet:

I also wonder what Ras would call himself after getting all of Supes' powers.

"Look, up in the sky! It's a bird... It's a plane... It's Super Ras!"

The only thing I didn't understand is how Lois knew Batman and knew who he really is. But I'm guessing that this will be explained in the Batman/Superman movie. Am I right?

I think it would've killed him eventually, but the reason Joker was so eager to go with that trap was probably because he got Batman for a statue! Knowing Joker, this would be the best possible thing  Not to mention the Mad Love ep also culminated in him just trying to shoot Bats remember.

And you're right! The Jokermobile must be done!

The latter is no real impeachment, but Marvel and DC are always making jokes to each other. They may be rivals, but they're also fellow geeks, I don't know what inhuman monster would deny the world the Bathulk

That's true. And yes, Cowboy Bebop was one of the better animes. My favorite anime, however, is still Lupin III (if that one can be considered an anime).

Yeah, Lupin III is definitely an anime.

I don't think I ever said that  but yes, that is good to hear.

Oh, maybe it wasn't you then

Either way, that's something it has as a one-up on TAS, which unfortunately never really had a plot arc. So having them in future seasons will be ace!

That's OK. All the episodes, except the last two, were random stories and had little continuity.

I'm glad that Batbrick, Penguin, and I aren't the only EBers to watch this show anymore.

I think they had a semblance of continuity. The Blue Beetle eps definitely as it chronicles his becoming a hero, his second appearance he is talking to the suit and his third he comes to know his past. Likewise, I'm guessing the main season was building up to the finale in terms of introducing the characters to be there, which is neat.

It would be cool to see him make an appearance, but I doubt he will. Ra's is a 70's villain, while most characters here are from the 50's, or in terms of Blue Beetle and Atom, legacy characters whose previous title owners were in the 50's.

That episode is quite good, though I disliked how it became more about longevity to Ra's than his plan, as Ra's is a man who has accepted his fate, but wishes to change the world before he dies.

Yes, it is explained in the Batman/Superman three ep movie, which is quite cool. Make sure to catch the three ep Last Son of Krypton story that has Superman's origin too if you wish to start the series.

Yeah, I guess you're right. But still, as you say, it would have killed him eventually (which is what Owlman wanted, I think), and there is not much difference between pulling a trigger and pushing a button. :sceptic: Oh well.

The Jokermobile must be done!

I'd love to make one, but I'm afraid I don't have the required purple bricks for this. Somebody who owns the Knight Bus and a trans-neon half-bubble should be able to make one. Do you have those things?

But I still got dibs on the Batwing!:grin:

I think they had a semblance of continuity.

I know. That's why I said little continuity, not no continuity.

It would be cool to see him make an appearance, but I doubt he will.

I see. Oh well, he's not exactly my favorite Bat-villain anyway.

Anyone see the recent two episodes Mystery in Space and Trials of the Demon. The former was good but not great I felt, but the latter was absolutely brilliant!

Unfortunately, I missed the last one and only got to see the ending. It looked pretty cool though! I'll record it when they air it again and watch it completely next weekend.

The one before that, Mystery in Space, was not as good as I had hoped either. Adam Strange was only kinda cool, but mostly, he made the impression of a love-blinded wanna-be hero. :sceptic: And the whole Aquaman side plot was just stupid and annoying. :hmpf_bad: I mean, come on! Only Aqua-wimp would let such a small failure get him down so much! And thanks to his depression, he was as useless as ever! (Sorry for that little Aquaman rant. ) The rest of the episode was alright, but somewhat confusing at times. For example, it was said that the doomsday device was immune to attacks, but Strange was able to blow a hole into its roof with a tiny explosive anyway. Also, it would have been nice if they would have explained a little how that beam works at the beginning instead of letting the viewer figure it out throughout the episode.

The short story that they showed at the beginning of that episode wasn't all that good either. Apparently, the main attraction of this story was supposed to be The Question (who you claimed to be one of the most awesome characters). This was the first time I saw him, and I must say that I wasn't very impressed by him. He didn't really do anything and seemed to be a regular guy without a face whose best power it is to ask "excellent questions". :hmpf::laugh: The villain, Equinox, didn't intrigue me all too much either. He seems to be a rather predictable villain - at least for the Dark Knight. The only interesting thing about this teaser was the fact that it was the first one to end in a cliffhanger. Could it be that Equinox will really return to have is revenge on Bats as he promised? Could this be the story arc this season is supposed to have? Even if so, I'm not too excited since, as I said, I didn't like Equinox too much and therefore don't care if he returns or not.

In the end, this episode left me doubtful about how good this season of the show will be, but Trials of the Demon looked promising, so I'm not loosing my hope yet. :classic:

Btw, here is a beautiful little screenshot that I took from the Season 1 finale:

I think he looks very cool in that scene. Just thought I'd share it. :classic:

Hello there (again). Just thought it might be a good idea to revive this thread with all the nice episodes lately. Here is what I think of them:

Night of the Huntress: This episode was hilarious! Just my type of humor I guess. But Mrs. Manface sure is a strange character. :look:

Menace of the Conqueror Caveman: To be honest, I'm disappointed with this one. I though Booster Gold would be a cool character, being from the future and all, but he turned out to be just plain annoying and useless. I had hoped that he would use his knowledge of the future in his favor at least once during this episode (which is supposed to be the only thing he is good at), but he didn't. I liked the villain of this episode, though.

The Color of Revenge: Was this episode great or what? It started off with an awesome classic Dynamic Duo sequence and then went on with a good episode about Robin trying to get things straight with Bats. A really nice episode!

Legends of the Dark Mite: This episode was... interesting. It was pretty much what I expected it to be: Batmite shows up and warps reality until it all ends up in a weird, nonsensical chaos and Bats has to talk him back to his senses. And what is the result? I still don't like these 5th dimension characters. The sequence where Batmite's imagination runs wild was stretched out way too long (although it was nice seeing the good old Bat-villains again) and that comic-con spoof scene was just awkward (although the idea behind it was pretty funny). That Loony Tunes reference at the end was a great punchline, though, because me and my friend were joking about how much these 5th dimension characters remind us of the Loony Tunes during the episode, and that bit just perfectly proved our point.

Hail the Tornado Tyrant: This episode was pretty good! It touched on some good ethical themes such as family, the evils of humanity, and whether or not an independently thinking robot who can "feel" can be considered a person. Also, nice re-appearance of the Jokermobile at the beginning!

I'm looking forward to the next episodes! :classic: On a side note, my theory of Equinox being the center of this season's continuity seems to be right as episode #23 is supposed to feature him and the last episode of this season is called "The Fate of Equinox".

Boy, I sure wish TLC would pick up the license of this show. Since they made the deal with CN for Ben 10, there is a slight hope. But we'll see.

Night of the Huntress: This episode was hilarious! Just my type of humor I guess. But Mrs. Manface sure is a strange character. :look:

Yeah, that was a great episode indeed, good to finally get women on the show too. I loved the Batmech, great reference to Kingdom Come:

Just ignore the Bamobile to the side, this is the only pic of the panel I could find.

Also the classic line: "The hammer of justice is unisex!"

I like this one, but indeed it was a touch disappointing for me too. Booster Gold is one of my most favourite comic characters ever, he and Ted Kord (Second Blue Beetle, dead in this series) were the hilarious jokers of the Justice League back in the day, always trying out new get-rich-quick schemes. In the comics he is pretty self obsessed true, but though i think this was a good adaptation of him he was never really useless like he was here.

This was indeed awesome, I loved, loved and loved the teaser, which had Adam West references galore. Crazy Quilt was actually somewhat threatening too, who knew that could be possible?

Loved this episode so much, easily one of the best so far. Really though, its best to chock up on a bit of comic knowledge to truly appreciate it. The reference to BTAS is only one amongst many, the Looney Tunes references were there, especially a "Duck Twacy" one, along with a chockful of comic references such as the suit changes. Plus we got to see Ace the Bathound again!

Oh, and Shaggyman is a real DC character!

Yeah, this was a very good episode. While i wouldn't want the show to tilt this way, it was nice having a more serious and sad episode for once.

I'm looking forward to the next episodes! :classic: On a side note, my theory of Equinox being the center of this season's continuity seems to be right as episode #23 is supposed to feature him and the last episode of this season is called "The Fate of Equinox".

Hey! That was my theory! Yeah, I heard about that episode, which features OMAC (One Man Army Corps) with Libra as the villain. Given how similar Equinox and Libra are, and how Krull was supposedly going ot be Vandal Savage in the previews, I'd say it's a good bet that it's him.

Well, Batman: The Brave and the bold had its own panel a few days ago at Comic-Con, with some awesome news.

The musical episode Mayhem of the Music Meister aired there, receiving a round of applause from the audience. The main guest star is Black Canary, but Aquaman, Green Arrow, Black Manta, Gorilla Grodd and Clock King also have singing parts. Apparently nearly every single character that has appeared on the show makes a cameo as well. The titular villain is voiced by the awesome Neil Patrick Harris.

Upcoming characters from the second season have been confirmed:

The Captain Marvel family, Vixen, Detective Chimp, The Metal Men, The Doom Patrol, Firestorm, Black Orchid, Monsieur Mallah, GI Robot, Starro, Enemy Ace,

Oh, and the FREAKIN' HAUNTED TANK! WOOO!

A clip was shown from a second season episode called Chill of the Night! written by Paul Dini. The clip had Julie Newmar - Catwoman from the Adam West Batman series - as Martha Wayne with Thomas Wayne - voiced by Diedrich Bader who is also Batman in this series - just before they are meant to be killed. Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy have been confirmed to voice the supernatural entities The Spectre and Phantom Stranger respectively.

Overall, I'm flippin' excited!

To the Brickmobile!

My thoughts: Having Black Canary appear on the show-good. The series having a musical episode- WAAAAY bad
