Oky Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 (edited) Sorry for double posting, but I simply have to talk about the latest episode, Chill of the Night! What an amazing episode! Easily my favorite out of the whole show! It had such a great, dark, BTAS-esque tone to it. It really surprises me that they would make such a dark episode in a otherwise so light-hearted show. Almost makes me feel bad for the kiddies who were watching this. Almost. The all-star voice cast definitely added to the experience! It really felt good seeing all of Batsy's rogues together again like that. The new designs were very good. Poison Ivy looked very pretty and dangerous at the same time, just like she should. The only one I didn't like so much was Freeze. He just looked like some retro spaceman. But that's OK. I hope to see more of these characters in the future. And while I still think the new Joker looks weird, his jokes are still great. "Well that's a killer" The Spectre was a great character too, and not only because he was voiced by good ol' Hamill. All in all, an awesome episode! Speaking of the Spectre, have you seen the DC Showcase on him on the Crisis on Two Earths DVD? Wow, some creepy stuff. The Super-Batman of Planet X was better than I expect as well. I thought it would be stupid to have a Batman with super powers, but it turned out to be quite hilarious seeing bats step into Superman's shoes and flying around fighting crime with his powers and his theme song. The punchline with Arrow was pretty funny too. Rothul sounds way cooler than Luthor, but that doesn't save him from being a lame villain. "What makes you think you can beat him this time?" "Because I'm a genius! Shut up!" Oh well, still a good ep. EDIT: Just saw the Shazam episode. It was pretty good. I liked the (super) scientist. Gotta love that stereotypical British accent. I was surprised that this little nerd actually succeeded with his plan, considering how nerds are usually treated in this show. The ending was very nice too. The only thing I didn't like is the fact that Captain Marvel could transform indoors and even underground without destroying the ceiling, and yet the lightning could be caught with a lighting rod. Batbrick Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Okay, we've had a few more episodes air, such as Gorillas in Our Midst! and The Siege of Starro Part 1!, so I thought I'd update these posts. I enjoyed Gorillas, but the teaser overall was much better than the episode, and very dark too. The Siege of Starro is fantastic too! Very epic, and with an interesting ending twist that makes me anticipate Part 2......which won't be airing for about a month, if not longer About the Shazam ep Oky, Captain Marvel is specifically a magic character, his lightning is not actually proper lightning and can be generated almost anywhere, even indoors. Gotta agree about Chill of the Night! too, one of my favourite eps yeat. Not the best, but very near the top. Mr Freeze is based on his filmation appearance, and Poison Ivy in this is my favourite animated design of her yet. News from Comic-Con as well: *Following the end of the 2nd season (13 eps still to go), there will be 13 episodes next year which will be the last episodes of the show. *The last season will be pulling out all the stops in terms of craziness - one of the teasers will have the heroes playing baseball against the villains (even Oky has to admit that will be awesome) *There will be 2 JLI (Justice League International) episodes for next year *Upcoming episodes include one set in WWII, A Doom Patrol episode titled The Last Patrol! An episode with Huntress, Black Canary and Catwoman with a musical number called Birds of Prey! *Superman and Wonder Woman ARE appearing YES! *Emperor Joker was played at the panel, apparently not only being awesome but having an out-of-costume Harley, a musical number and Batman dying again and again and again. There's other stuff but I can't remember it right now, but I am very much looking forward to the rest even with Cartoon Network's absolutely idiot schedules. Batbrick Away! Quote
Oky Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 (edited) I enjoyed Gorillas, but the teaser overall was much better than the episode, and very dark too. Agreed. Have you seen the DC showcase film about the spectre? It's very much like that, except without Bats in it. About the Shazam ep Oky, Captain Marvel is specifically a magic character, his lightning is not actually proper lightning and can be generated almost anywhere, even indoors. Then how come it was caught with a non-magic lightning rod? News from Comic-Con as well: Hm, interesting stuff indeed. Totally can't wait for Emperor Joker! And why would I have anything against Bats & the gang having a baseball game? Sounds fun to me, especially if the Joker is involved. Reminds me of the Kids Next Door episode where the KND had a bowling match against their villains. But yeah, their scheduling is quite annoying. They haven't even shown the first Starro ep over here yet. Perhaps they'll have a big comeback at some point and show both parts back to back. Have you seen the new movie, Under the Red Hood? It's very good! I'd even go as far as to say it's an instant classic! I wasn't so sure about John DiMaggio playing the Joker since his voice is so deep and raunchy, but he did an excellent job! The Joker seemed very deranged and a bit creepy in this which worked perfectly for the story. The only part I didn't like was when Bats dodged a bullet. As cool as that was, that just made him seem too superhuman. I'm also curious about Superman/Batman: Apocalypse which seems to be dealing with some good themes as well! Zarkan Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Hey guys, thought I'd let you know that a new Comic-Con review with Andrea Romano can be found here. Among other things, it reveals that there will be a Batman: TBATB crossover with the current Scooby-Doo show. I'm not really a fan of either program, but the hilarious potential for this episode has even me excited! Quote
Oky Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Thanks for that stunning video, Grevious! But Scooby-Doo? Really? Don't hate me for this, but I don't like Scooby-Doo, and the first cross-over was terrible! Considering the good job they have done on BTBATB so far, this one will probably be more tolerable, but still. Quote
Batbrick Posted August 7, 2010 Author Posted August 7, 2010 But Scooby-Doo? Really? :hmpf_http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showforum=25bad: Don't hate me for this, but I don't like Scooby-Doo, Look mate...you and me, we're done professionally and personally. Just...done. The sheer unrestrained gall in what you felt you had to say was just....geez. Never in my life have I experienced such unprofessionalism and lack of respect. I need a freakin' drink. Emperor Claudius Rome Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 (edited) I've only seen one episode of this, but it was rather good from what I saw. And about that crossover, the current Scooby Doo show missed the entire point of Scooby Doo, so watch out fans of BTBATB Edit: Wow, a new scooby doo? They go through those series fast Edited August 7, 2010 by Emperor Claudius Rome Quote
Batbrick Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 I've only seen one episode of this, but it was rather good from what I saw. Which one did you see? You should definitely watch more, especially Mayhem of the Music Meister!, Chill of the Night!, Aquaman's Outrageous Adventure! and the Deep Cover for Batman!/Game Over for Owlman! two-parter. Edit: Wow, a new scooby doo? They go through those series fast It's really good, I'd recommend checking it out, Velma is more interesting, Fred's trap fetish is quite funny and the humour is deliciously dark and witty. Batbrick Away! Quote
Emperor Claudius Rome Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I just watched Mayhem of the Music Miester, and it was awesome. It was so campy and cheesy but in a good way. The songs where great as well. 9/10 Quote
bionicle factory Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 There's going to be a Batman/Scobby-Doo crossover! It's all over IMDB and Wikipedia! Quote
Oky Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Yup, and here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWh8wq7Uo7c&feature=player_embedded It's actually pretty funny (Weird Al - Who would've thought? ). That Safety segment was hilarious. Gotta love their dedication to the original, what with the art style and all that. Can't wait to see the rest of the episode. Why have they stopped airing this show in the States? Quote

That Safety segment was hilarious. Gotta love their dedication to the original, what with the art style and all that. Can't wait to see the rest of the episode. Why have they stopped airing this show in the States? That was one of the most bizarre cartoon experiences I've had in a while... AND I LOVED IT! The animation was well done with the classic feeling, the plot was so campy, and how can you not love Weird Al? 10/10!~ Quote
Oky Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Now that I've seen the rest of the episode I can safely say Wow! What a weird episode. I can't say I liked the Batboy & Rubin bit much at all. It wasn't funny, it was just stupid. The Japanese episode was pretty good though. Does anyone know what the Batman figure was that popped up when Bat Mite said "Believe me, there are some weird versions out there"? As for the episode with Superman, I kinda liked it. The cheesy portrayal of some of the characters was pretty funny. Now if only they would air the Matches Malone episode... Quote
