10 Wintery Picks

I thought it would be interesting to discuss 10 Lego winter-related sets. All of these sets contain many useful winter, snow, and holiday pieces.

Some of the themes include Harry Potter, Orient Expedition, Arctic, and even Star Wars.

Without creating a poll, share your thoughts of these wintery sets. Perhaps you may even have a favorite not on the list.

mostly nice choice, i'd put foward hoth rebel base instead of the snowspeeder though, more useful snow related parts

I liked the whole "Ice Planet 2002" line. A whole theme set in the snow and a wintry wonderland? I think at least one set from that theme belongs on the list.

I only have the Mobile Outpost among those sets, which is very well designed and includes a lot of equipment. It goes pretty cheap on ebay too.

As someone else said though, there has to be something from Ice Planet in a such a list. The Deep Freeze Defender would be the obvious choice for me.

Since I live in Australia where Xmas happens in summer and the temperatures are usually in the 30 degrees plus, I've always liked the idea of a cool white Christmas!

In terms of wintery sets, I think this one has an underrated baseplate and some nice pieces in (rare) trans medium blue. The baseplate is the same as for King Leo's Castle and the Dragon Fortress, just in a different colour with a different print.

I only recently got a copy of this set (it was never released in Australia at a retail level) and this year for a Xmas theme I've put one of your other picks - a 4756 Shrieking Shack, which seems evocative of a Swiss chalet - on top of the hill and added a few landscaping details so as I open the City and Castle advent calendars the figs (and their accessories) have somewhere to frolic.

I may take a few pics of the WIP and post them in a little while.
