ColdBricks Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 (edited) Hi, anyone in NZ keen to organise a bulk purchase from Shop At Home in the New Year --- Save on some freight charges!! I'm in Christchurch and am lucky enough to be able to courier stuff around NZ for Free. I want to order a bunch of keychains and community worker sets, and whatever maybe on sale in the new year but the $70-$80 freight charge just rips my nightie. So I'd be keen to piggyback with someone. I know that this post should maybe be in Buy/Sell/Trade but there is this weird rule that excludes "new members" from posting there. Maybe a time frame would be more useful than a post count? Edited December 15, 2008 by ColdBricks
Dragonator Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I would love to, however I'm going to be cleaned out by New Year, so unfortunately not this time around. There are some great sets I want to get on S@H, but I first need to pay for the Falcon, USC AT-ST, General Grevious and Green Grocer I've already ordered. So yeah, sorry I can't this time, but there may be a few others around who would be interested. It truly is a pain the shipping charges they have to NZ. I mean, 80NZD to ship a single set is ridiculous!
Legoman Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Yeah quite possably. It depends what sales they have in the new year. I aggree shipping charges are outragious! Its kinda anoying, i asked the same question a few weeks ago over on FBTB when S@H had grevious 1/2 price. The sale only lasted a few days, and was finished by the time people got back to me, and there's no way i'm paying $80 postage for 1 grevious to NZ, that makes it a bargian of... FULL PRICE WOOHOO!!!! HAHA! But anyway, yeah, i might be intrested. (BTW im in Christchurch too)
KimT Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 So you're not allowed to post this where it belongs and therefore you went and posted it in the wrong forum. That's not how it works and it kinda makes me upset, that you think you're above site rules. I'll be watching you and this is moved to the proper forum. You could have asked an admin or moderator to create this topic for you instead.
Hinckley Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I know that this post should maybe be in Buy/Sell/Trade but there is this weird rule that excludes "new members" from posting there. Maybe a time frame would be more useful than a post count? Like KimT said, that rule is in place for a reason, so please contact staff in the future.

There have been a few thousand people join after me. I have a family with young kids and don't have the time to post here every day and get a huge post count. Your rules around the Buy/Sell/Trade topic are cumbersome and rude. Sure this forum is frequented by kids, but the majority of us are adults and can exercise some restraint. Don't give me the heavy handed school-principle threats. It's insulting and not in the spirit of this forum
Front Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Coldbricks, I don't like the way you put your reply, but I actually 100 % aggree with your view. I was told by an admin once not to delete a post, 5 seconds after it was deleted, not even giving me two seconds more to explain why I did it (wanted a new topic instead of adding a reply). Instead I was met with a "do not do it again" leason. My reply? I basicly told the admin to mind his own buisness. Please admins, stop asking people to be 18 when joining, and then act yourself like someone below that age, when dealing with people double that age. Front
Brickthing Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Yup, I'm definitely interested, but it would depend what is on S@H for us at the time, as to whether it would be worth the trouble. If the 2009 BIONICLEs are up on S@H for us, then I'd probably get them, because I'd end up getting them way earlier than NZ normally gets them.

Please admins, stop asking people to be 18 when joining, and then act yourself like someone below that age, when dealing with people double that age.Front We volunteer our time here and have a lot to do. We can't watch everything, therefore some blanket rules are in effect. If you ever feel you're treated unfairly by a staff member, please PM me directly. As for the BSTF, it's not a necessity for this site, there is always Ebay and Bricklink. As far as the age limit goes and how we deal with things, there are always other sites for you to frequent if you dislike it that much. There are several members we've made exceptions for when they contact us to explain their circumstances. Our staff isn't perfect and we don't always handle things the best, but I do think we all deserve the benefit of the doubt in the circumstances you both raise. Please communicate with us directly instead of letting it build up and then blow out of proportion. Remember, we're all LEGO fans and therefore none of us are actually bad people.

Sure this forum is frequented by kids, but the majority of us are adults and can exercise some restraint. Don't give me the heavy handed school-principle threats. It's insulting and not in the spirit of this forum I think you've misunderstood me. I merely stated that it would have been a better (and more adult) move to actually contact the staff before posting something that you obviously knew was wrong. I am well aware that most members are adults, but that doesn't change the fact that we had to enforce some rules concerning the BST-forum. Members joined just to sell, members joined to con people into paying money for nothing. So claiming that our rules are cumbersome and rude is unfair and uncalled for. We never ever force our members to use that particular forum and do feel free to use other on-line buy/sell sites like eBay and Bricklink. I even moved this topic for you to the proper forum... Are you just looking for a discussion? Wouldn't it be better to get back on the topic you proposed in the first post?
