February 27, 200916 yr Just got my "Royal Guard" magnet set from S@H yesterday with Boba, Leia, and a Royal Guard. Anyone else seem to notice a difference in quality? For some reason it seems to me these figs are made more cheaply with a slightly different plastic or something. I can't put my finger on it, but something seems to be different....oh well, great figs for the price, so it's hard to complain much. The main thing I noticed is that there's a little LEGO trademark sign on the insides of the arms. Other than that I didn't notice much difference.

I got the Yoda, Mace, and Dooku set, and I noticed a difference too, excluding Yoda. Yoda seemed normal to me. I don't have the other versions of the figures, but Mace and Dooku seem to be made of cheaper plastic, not as rich and bold as usual minifigures. And I don't think it's all 2009 sets either, because my 8014 clones are just fine. I was disappointed when holding Mace and Dooku in my hand, they just seemed... different. (Not to say I don't love them anyway, I do!) Also, besides the indent in the inside of the arms, has anyone else noticed the numbers on the sides of the hands? (Not the gripping part of the hand, but the arm part, I don't know how to describe it well.)
February 27, 200916 yr With the Royal guard, theres a difference in the colour between it and my deathstar one. The deathstar one's helmet matches the body, but the magnet version's body is significantly darker than the helmet.

February 27, 200916 yr i dont see it. can you take a pic please? I'll try to get a pic up later. I think they're still great if you don't want the other sets.

And it's darker in a bad way... it just looks cheap
February 27, 200916 yr I just realized that it's not a LEGO trademark. It's some sort of marking though. Here's a pic. I don't really notice the difference in plastic, but they do somehow seem slightly different. Can't quite put my finger on it. That being said, I still think they're great minifigs and a wonderful way to get them without buying the set if you don't want to. I have the RAS and the AAT but I don't really desire the Solar Sailer. This way I can still get a lovely Dooku minifig and an extra Mace Windu and Yoda.
February 28, 200916 yr I don't know what difference that people are detecting that they "can't quite put a finger on" but my magnet minifigs feel exactly the same as any other lego fig.

February 28, 200916 yr I don't know what difference that people are detecting that they "can't quite put a finger on" but my magnet minifigs feel exactly the same as any other lego fig. It's just the usual conspiracy theory that TLG would start up a whole new production to make the figs for the magnets, using megablock plastic and therefore the figs would be different than the ones previously made. Setting up this new line of production using a different plastic is of course expected to be much cheaper than just making the robots fetch the regular parts from the stockhouse. Can't you see it? TLG is definately trying to rip us off and cheat us all the time. Hopefully they feel the same, they should be just like any other minifig. Simply because they are.

I think you're right. I've just bought Ahsoka's Starfighter and the Buzz droids legs are clearly different from the older version. The new legs are definately from a different mix of plastic. They're not as glossy as before and they seem to be softer - which is surely done to avoid the famous breaking of the clip.
March 9, 200916 yr I just got some magnets. The material is notcably of lower quality, but it doesn't bother that mutch. Exept for the Imerial guard, it's just crapy plastic, it's mush darker and really doesn't blend in that well with the rest of the gang. Luckely the helmet looks nice, so I only have to find better torso's and legs.
March 9, 200916 yr huge differences in maul magnet fig and original maul fig. magnet minifig: cheap looking yellow eyes with "hollow" eye ball, more defined tatoo but scrunched and too small. regular minifig: sunburst eyeball on white eye, less defined tatoo but right size for head. shirt printing onthe magnet version is grey and "real" minifig is white. glad i didnt sell off my original maul when they announced the magnet set!

My Mace from the RAS does not have the new indentations on the arms, but I don't notice a difference in plastic quality. However, as the picture here shows, my Mace from the RAS has a slightly different print on the head and torso from the one in the magnet set. The one from the RAS is holding the lightsaber. The misprints thread contains a lot of evidence that Lego is updating printing templates for the minifigs, but I don't know why they would make such small changes in a new fig. March 10, 200916 yr huge differences in maul magnet fig and original maul fig. Are you comparing the magnet set Maul to the original one from 1999, or the one from 2007? They had already redone the original for the 2007 set, updating his tatoos and eyes, so you might just be seeing that difference, not something specific to the magnet set. Check the review of the 2007 Sith Infiltrator for the comparison pic so you can decide what is really going on.

I said it once, and I'll say it again, they feel and look the same to me.

I can't put my finger on it, but something seems to be different....oh well, great figs for the price, so it's hard to complain much. The structure and color of the minifigs are definitely different. The darker red of the imperial guard is very obvious and the sand color of Mace and Yoda are also very different from my 'old' lego elements. The plastic is also more transparant and less shiny, especially on the Imperial guard. It's not a big deal to me, beacuse I already had two guards, I bought the set for Leia (ssschwing ;-). But I understand a bit of frustration from my fellow EB members! DutchRebel PS: is Leia exactly the same as the one in Jabba's Sailbarge?? Maybe someone's got both...
March 15, 200915 yr I think It's not about the quality of the plastic they are made of or the printing, but how "SECOND-HAND" they are . The minifigs have NUMEROUS SMALL CRACKS on the surface and are FAR FROM SHINY as though they were SECOND-HAND ! HOW OUTRAGEOUS!

April 3, 200915 yr OMG, I searched for this thread becasue I wanted to know if they were stuck to the bricks or not. This is awesome, Yoda, Dooku, adn Mace all for 15 bucks and no ship prices. WOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 6, 201015 yr About the quality of the Magnets sets figures you think the old Magnets figures(the ones that are not normal figures) have a better plastic than the new ones??? Edited January 6, 201015 yr by ricota9007

January 6, 201015 yr I think they do, but they have magnets in their legs and torso. Their torso and legs are also glued together. But the old Magnets move their legs, arms, head,so the only diference is that the old ones have torso and legs glued like some of the figures that Light their Lightsabers from the sets of the III movie
