Leo604 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 On a more important note though... Since when did the Maple Leafs become a winning team?! What's next? Cats & dogs living together?! The same could be said for the Raptors, but that's mostly cause of Rudy Gay. :P Quote
Soul4ger Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Hi! I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm really hoping someone can help me. I am not Canadian, so I've never really looked in here. I make no apologies for that, although I have much love for my Canadian neighbors. In fact, I'm coming North across the border this very weekend. I'll be in Toronto. I've been led to understand I have my pick of LEGO stores. I'll only be able to go to one, although I understand there are three. Maybe? Two standalone stores, and a store with the new Legoland Discovery Center that just opened. Is this correct? Any native Toronto-ites want to let me know which store is the best/has the largest Pick-A-Brick Wall/selection? I really appreciate any feedback. Quote
Ricecracker Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Any native Toronto-ites want to let me know which store is the best/has the largest Pick-A-Brick Wall/selection? I really appreciate any feedback. You're correct. There are two official LBR Stores, as well as the LEGOLand Discovery Centre. The store at Fairview Mall is larger and usually has a better selection of PaB. Quote
tedbeard Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Well I live in Ontario so maybe it's a province-exclusive thing. Don't know if it is some or all (except Quebec) but my local Chapters here in BC is part of the LEGO products sale. I am not Canadian... Any native Toronto-ites want to let me know which store is the best/has the largest Pick-A-Brick Wall/selection? I really appreciate any feedback. Hope you enjoy your visit. One word of warning however: all prices in Canada are about 25% higher than in the U.S. right across the board. You may want to adjust your budget before you get the store. :) Quote
Daenerys Targaryen Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Don't know if it is some or all (except Quebec) but my local Chapters here in BC is part of the LEGO products sale. Ontario too! @Soul4ger: I'd make sure to check out any nearby Chapters or Indigo stores due to the current 20% off LEGO Star Wars, City, Minifigures & Ninjago. I can also tell you that there's not point looking for Series 9 minifigures at either Burlington store - only the Chapters store has any and they're down to about 30 or less now! (we love our minifigures here I guess!) IIRC, there's a Chapters/Indigo location right near each offical LEGO store in Toronto. Hope you enjoy your visit. One word of warning however: all prices in Canada are about 25% higher than in the U.S. right across the board. You may want to adjust your budget before you get the store. :) Also keep in mind that there's an additional 13% sales tax in Ontario that's added to the ticked price at the checkout, so don't let that shock you either! Good Cragger Fan Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 (edited) Over at Brickset, there appears to be a new official LEGO Brand Retail Store that was announced there that will soon open up in Edmonton, Alberta sometime this spring. If this is true there, then there will be two new LEGO Brand Retail Stores that will be opening up this year in Western Canada (one in Surrey, British Columbia and one in Edmonton, Alberta, me not counting the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Southern Ontario that is near Toronto). It seems that LEGO is showing a lot of love for Western Canadians this year, in terms of official LEGO Stores. Edited March 8, 2013 by Good Cragger Fan Quote
Crackerjack Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 NB has the 20% off too so it must be nation-wide. Lego loves every wheres but the Atlantic provinces as we have yet to get an official Lego store here (I'm surprised there isn't one in Montreal as its a large city; I would welcome that as it's only a 4 hour drive from where I am). Good Cragger Fan Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 (edited) I just found out when the Legends of Chima TV show will air on TV again, at least in Canada, which will be airing on Teletoon on Friday, March 29, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (yay!! ), both Eastern Daylight Savings Time (for the Eastern Time Zone feed) and Pacific Daylight Savings Time (for the Pacific Time Zone feed), for a total of 90 minutes, with at least one new episode. (Hopefully all three episodes are new ones, however; but Teletoon may re-air the first two episodes again before them airing a new episode at 7:30 p.m. -- but this probably will depend on what episodes in which the US version (and possibly the Canadian version) of Cartoon Network will air on TV). I can't wait anymore, as the wait on what will happen to Cragger, Crominus and Crunket is figuratively killing me!!!! I got this information from the TV schedule that is on Teletoon's website. It's rather annoying to read a block of text that is constantly changing between regular, bold, italicized and underlined text. Thank you. Quote
Rook Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Oh, good. Glad I wasn't the only to wonder WTF he is talking about. ;) I think they’re characters from the Chima Theme, so I’m guessing that means Lego is doing a Chima TV series like they did for Ninjago. Quote
pluto7443 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 So where exactly is the new Toronto Discovery Center? Quote

Fairview does have largest wall and therefore in theroy has the best selection. However Sherway's shift manager Mel takes special care to provide a good selection of pieces and Sherway usually has a list of all bricks in stock, even then ones not on the wall. But in both cases be sure to talk to the staff. Let them know what you're looking for. I'd plan on doing to Fiarview and if you can't find what you want then stop at Sherway on your way back out, assuming of course that you're coming up through Buffalo/Niagara. Though I'm guessing you've already headed back south. Vaughan Mills if I'm not mistaken. Yep Vaughan Mills. Edited March 12, 2013 by Rook Quote
Soul4ger Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Hey, everyone. My girlfriend and I went up to the Fairview store! Thanks for the feedback. It was an awesome experience. Quote
Good Cragger Fan Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) Huh?! Oh, good. Glad I wasn't the only to wonder WTF he is talking about. ;) If you go to www.teletoon.com and look for the schedule link for the next three or four weeks (it is in .pdf format) and scroll down to the fourth week in the month of March of this year, it shows under the Friday column and the 6:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. rows, it says "LEGO Legends of Chima" in all of the three time slots. (Right before that, at the 6:00 p.m. row , it says "LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace", as the show that will be airing right before "LEGO Legends of Chima".) I'm sorry for the mixed tyogragphic emphaises in my last post, "Ricecracker", and I will try to use much less of it in the future. Edited March 14, 2013 by Good Cragger Fan Quote
Leo604 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 So Nintendo of Canada just sent me an email telling to try out Lego City Undercover at Sherway Gardens: http://f.email.nintendo-news.com/i/43/2089059544/0312_body.jpg Just for anyone who might be interested; I doubt I'll have time to go because physics and the fact I still won't be getting a Wii U until I actually get a job. Ricecracker Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Instead of using the spoiler tag for oversized images, please resize it to within 800x600. In the meantime I've change the pic to a link. Quote
Leo604 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/targets-canadian-problem-empty-shelves/article9936379/ I guess I'll be putting off my visit till next week. Quote
Crackerjack Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 That's good though. If product is "flying" off the shelves then that means they won't have to worry about bad profits in Canada and should be around for a good while. Quote
Leo604 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 A little more details in this http://www.thestar.com/business/2013/03/18/target_canada_opening_17_new_stores_tomorrow_at_8_am.html; hopefully that spoiled food problem won't be in the newer stores. In any case I'll probably only going there for Lego and other inexpensive home supplies. Quote
Good Cragger Fan Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I certainly hope that Target Canada will have the same LEGO polybag sets in their stores, just like the US Targets have right now, or I will not be very happy here, to say the least. Quote
Leo604 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) Yeah, has anyone been to a Target and seen any polybags in stock? I might go later this Tuesday if there are but otherwise... EDIT: Just went to the one here in London, couldn't find any. Shame. :/ Edited March 24, 2013 by Leo Crimson Quote
