prateek Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Here's a newbie question. Are there any good LUGs in the Toronto area? Ask Ricecracker (I think he knows something). I personally have no clue Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Quick question here. Does anyone know when Walmart.com and Zellers.com will start having their online site carrying Lego? The Tantive, Republic Dropship, etc are only available at toysrus.ca and lego. Some of which are not even for sale at toysrus.ca like the death star. If walmart.ca and zellers.com start carrying them like Target and Walmart in the US, then we may be able to grab some sales on those items as lego rarely discount those. Zellers.com cancel their online shopping site last year? or was it in 2008? Walmart.ca on the other hand has an online site with Mega Bloks, yet no lego for sale.. Did they used to carry lego on their site before they had that arge dispute with lego not lowering the prices here in Canada? It would also be nice if Amazon.ca carries lego and not only books. Quote

I don't think that people in Canada use these sites as much as our US neighbors. I think that there were Lego sets on Wlmart.ca, but they took them down; the only ones I remember are the 2009 SW Battle Packs. Quote
Ricecracker Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Here's a newbie question. Are there any good LUGs in the Toronto area? In the GTA? No. In Ontario? Yes. There are a few that you could join. -ParLUGment -Encompasses all of Ontario, though is centred in Ottawa. Not entirely sure how often they meet. -WHACKOLUG -WHACKOLUG is the other I know about. They have meetings once a month, but the meetings are in St. Jacobs just outside of Kitchener Waterloo. They're planning a few displays around the year. They're just shy of their first birthday. They also have a teen subsidiary, TONLUG, of which I am co-founder. I hope this helps! If you need any more information, let me know, and I'll try to help you out. Quote
Tarduk Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Has anybody seen the Army men on patrol set in the Edmonton area? Quote

WHACKOLUG, isn't that Janey Red Brick, Brick Chick, etc.? Quote
Ricecracker Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 WHACKOLUG, isn't that Janey Red Brick, Brick Chick, etc.? Yessiree. Quote
dr_spock Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Yessiree. Cool. I saw Janey at the Great Train Show last year but I was too shy to say hi to her. Quote
legomaniac83 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 -ParLUGment -Encompasses all of Ontario, though is centred in Ottawa. Not entirely sure how often they meet. To add to this, ParLUGment meets once a month, usually the 2nd Monday. Most of the members are in Ottawa, but there are a few located in Ontario, US and overseas. I haven't been to a meeting in a couple years as I had to move for school, and now my job, but I still keep in touch with what is going on with the group. For more info on the group, their website is http://www.parlugment.org/index.php Lots of pictures from past shows and displays. If anyone has any questions, don't hesitiate to contact through the website, or myself here on EB. Cheers! Quote
Alex the Great Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I went to the TRU in Whitby and there was lots of the Town sets in and the Atlantis. Also lots of Bionicles, Indy, and Star Wars. But the only Pirates set left was the Cannon battle. Quote
Front Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I am in my third job, and in each place there has been a single Canadian working too, which I've been fairly close to, speaking with on a regular basis. The first place the guy was new to Denmark, and did not speak our language, but the two last places (including my current job), the fellows were speaking Danish very well, having been here for more than five years. Every Canadian I've known in real life has been a nice person, and I have a big heart for Canada, being kind of Scandinavian with your health care etc. But do you Canadian know why some people move from Canada to Denmark ? Because it's better here in brickland cheers Front Quote
prateek Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) I think it's just because Danes and Canadians get along nicely. Our "alliance" might have something to do with WWII, like our relationship with Netherlands. Edited January 26, 2010 by prateek Quote

dr_spock Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Is that like Blame Denmark instead of the Blame Canada South Park episode? Ricecracker and legomaniac83, thanks for the LUG info. Whackolug seems interesting. I think I'm too ancient for TONLUG. Ricecracker, do you drive out to Waterloo from TO? Quote
Ricecracker Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Ricecracker, do you drive out to Waterloo from TO? Well, my parents drive, but yes Quote

Actually, the Canadian's go on strike, and when the population is starving, the danish start flying in to replace the Canadians. Quote
Alex the Great Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I live not to far out of Toronto, to the east I'm afraid though. Pretty far from Waterloo or else I would join TONLUG. Quote
Legorski Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Anyone hoping TLC make a Lego store in Toronto, if in Canada alone, we "neglected" Canadians need more Lego! 8D Quote
prateek Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Anyone hoping TLC make a Lego store in Toronto, if in Canada alone, we "neglected" Canadians need more Lego! 8D I agree. Maybe Eaton Centre or Yorkdale. Even one in West Edmonton Mall would be awesome. Quote
dr_spock Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Anyone hoping TLC make a Lego store in Toronto, if in Canada alone, we "neglected" Canadians need more Lego! 8D That would be nice. It would beat having to ask my sister in the States to get the 8258 crane truck set for me and importing it into Canada. Ricecracker, how long is the drive to Waterloo? Do your parents also participate in the LUG? I think I may drop in at one of the meetings. Thanks for the info. Quote
Ricecracker Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Ricecracker, how long is the drive to Waterloo? It's about an hour, two max in bad conditions. Do your parents also participate in the LUG? I think I may drop in at one of the meetings. Thanks for the info. No, my parents aren't especially interested in Lego themselves, thought they do "tolerate" my hobby. Quote

They say there are plans but they had "plans" for a long time already. It would also be nice if we get Brickmaster magazine as those exclusives are hard to get and pricey. But once again, they have plans for it. It would probably help if you call lego and ask them for it, the higher the demand, the faster we may get those. The lego reps do keep track and send them to the feedback team. Quote
