dr_spock Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 We're also adding 1000 Security Cameras near Olympics Venues and even at streets in Downtown !!! http://torch.sympatico.ca/Article/Show.ftw?id=682 It could be wise to leave the Lego guns at home. Quote
Ratshot Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I'm pretty sure Canada is going to dominate the Games, except maybe mens hockey. According to The Hockey News Team Canada is expected to get Gold. I saw the torch pass twice in person and once on TV in Toronto. I saw it at Yonge & Sheppard and again the next day at Don Mills and Eglinton. I got to see it go through a neighboring community, the people turned out by the thousand Quote

The weather was bad and it was pouring... It was rather short and only around 3 minutes. There were a few trucks with performers in there, some police cars to open the way and the people running the torch. Its scheduled to be at Vancouver in the evening. BTW, I heard rumors that people that do the torch relay had to pay $375 to do the run. The fee covers the torch and the olympic shirt you get. Kind of pricey as I thought it was volunteer Quote

RXBandit Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 My SO used to live in Saskatoon. Which parts of Saskatchewan did you visit? How do you like the cold weather? i fly in through Saskatoon (though when i drove over the summer i went up the Yellowhead). i stayed in "Stoon" once and Prince Albert all subsequent times. believe it or not, i actually love Saskatoon. it reminds me of what Boston could be if it actually had personality and not incredible penis envy for New York. it's unique and has an incredible sense of culture and (most shocking to me) the food is incredible. PA, on the other hand... well... i'll just say that it may as well be any small city in the Midwest of the US. it's not all bad, and the lakes up north are awesome, plus i LOVE Boston Pizza (mmmm, you Canadians are so lucky to be able to go there all the time. better than any similarly-priced chain place in America). as for the weather, well, i was there three weeks ago and we went early on a Tuesday morning, around 4am, and it was the coldest i've ever been, by far, ever. call me a little girl all you want, but i physically can't handle that kinda stuff, i'm just not built for it. i love my girlfriend though, so i do my best. i don't think i've seen anyone here from the SK or Manitoba (which, btw, i drove all the way through, but won't give my opinion of cause i don't wanna be really rude ). Hmm, I don't recall having penis envy for New York when I lived in Boston. The Red Sox did win a few World Series. I think you can get used to the cold eventually. Pack thermal underwear and snuggle with the GF to keep warm. Quote
Ricecracker Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 A bunch of Bionicle, Pirate, and Castle sets are 30% off at TRU, including the Imperial Flagship. It comes out to $187.47 CAD which is almost exactly the U.S. price, and with $5 more off with the promo code "febsave 5" until February 25th and free shipping, it's a pretty good deal. Quote
dr_spock Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks for the heads up. Actually it is 25% for Pirates and Castle. I'm thinking of getting Castle Drawbridge on the weekend with the $5 coupon. Imperial Ship would be nice but I don't think I can get that past my financial advisor. Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Market Village is an even better deal. Its $134.99 regular price and gets 25% off. That price is 10% lower than retail suprisingly. Quote
prateek Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Wow, this sale is amazing, but sadly, I won't get to participate in it Quote
dr_spock Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Wow, this sale is amazing, but sadly, I won't get to participate in it Yeah, I wish they didn't time these sales at the same time property taxes are due. However, I did manage to blow my budget on Castle Drawbridge Defense sale today at Toys'R'Us. Now to write that big fat cheque for the city. Quote
Alex the Great Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I bought the Medieval Market Village at TRU's website during the sale. It said it was backordered till February 21'st, and that was the day I bought it. It gave me a notice that it was on backorder, but still hasn't given me a notice that it's been shipped. But now the set is not even on the site anymore, what should I do? Thanks for any help! Quote
Emperor Claudius Rome Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I ordered the Flagship! It's on backorder, but it's worth a wait! Quote

But i'm pretty sure they are just waiting for inventory. Probably the reason why it was pulled off from the site because too many people tried to order it even when it was on backorder. Quote
Alex the Great Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Thanks, that's what I thought, but just wanted to make sure. Quote
