the last chronicler Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) My neighbor is from Canada. Really? My neighbours are also Canadian. and their neighbours are Canadian... and their neighbours are Canadian... and their neighbours are Canadian... and their neighbours are Canadian... and their neighbours are Canadian... and their neighbours are Canadian... and their neighbours are Canadian... You get the point. Ps: Note the use of "U" in neighbour. Also, has anyone seen any signs of the minifigures in Alberta? Edited May 26, 2010 by the last chronicler Quote
lowbike1 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I'm heading down to Bellingham walmart tomorrow, hopefully I can get a few Quote
Johnno Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) I checked a Walmart in Ottawa. 8 boxes of them, all opened for individual purchase, $2.86 each. Interesting that they were not in the LEGO aisle at all, they weren't even close, more like 4 aisles over. Happy hunting Personally, I'm not sure if I want to pick up an entire box, or try the barcode method. What to do, what to do? Edited May 26, 2010 by Johnno Quote

I need the syringe for something very specific, but I want the skateboarder more to use for unkown MOCing. If you know something you need a fig for, I suggest feeling or using the barcode. If not, take the whole box without paying for it. Quote
AriGold Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 I just went to Walmart at Deerfoot Outlet Mall in Calgary, they had ten boxes, none really picked through at all. I was able to get a complete collection. Quote
tedbeard Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 I went to both Wally World and TRU here in Victoria (Town & Country and Mayfair only) and found nothing but confused and slightly dubious sales staff. Quote
AriGold Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Just a heads up, the grand opening of the Calgary Lego Store will be July 16th to 18th. http://www.calgaryherald.com/mobile/iphone...5178/story.html Quote

winbrant Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I just went to Walmart at Deerfoot Outlet Mall in Calgary, they had ten boxes, none really picked through at all. I was able to get a complete collection. Thanks for the Calgary heads up...I've been checking Wal*Marts since reports from Ontario and Vancouver came out in the last week. Airdrie Supercentre received about 10 boxes and they decided to put them up in the Express Line checkouts as they felt their size lended to high theft possibilities. I did manage to take a "box" with me to another section to work my bar-code magic (a la HTC Magic) to score a set. Son now wants to build a Ninja army and daughter wants a cheerleader team! As for Calgary LEGO store...yeah...I was hoping CrossIron would've got it but I think Chinook offered more incentive (i.e. central Calgary). On a positive note might not have to go and pay shipping and handling for Exclusives via S@H...worst fear is that they won't have stock, which is something I hear about the ones Stateside. Pick-a-brick will be a positive only if they keep it rotated well. Negative side...Chinook Centre. Crowded. Parking is terrible. Ease of accessability to the mall...traffic jams. I remember how bad it was when they opened the previous development back in 2000. It was easier to park in the industrial area east of the train tracks and walk over. Quote

If you head to the one at Deerfoot, the boxes (as of Wednesday night) were at the end of an aisle away from the regular Lego right in front of all the fishing lures, all ten boxes open, and lots of space and no one hovering over you. I had a good 45 minutes to sift through the boxes. So if you want to army uild away from the crowds and have 10 boxes to go through, check out Deerfoot. I will probably head back on the weekend to army build...... I would assume there would have to be a soft opening for the Lego store in Chinook, no word yet on when they will open the doors there, yeah CrossIron would have been sweet if they went there, I am about 10 minutes away in Kincora. Have you taken the kids to the world of wheels at the science center yet? Took my nephews and they had a blast. Some neat displays there too. Ari Quote
lowbike1 Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 I went to the walmart in Abbotsford on Monday night and they didnt have any anywere, I didnt ask, but looked all over... I also went to Walmart in Bellingham yesterday, and they didnt have any either, I asked a guy working in the toy department about them and he had never heard of them, but said they were getting new lego next month Quote
Legorski Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 The TRU at Sherway has Kingdoms, the new Space Police, World Racers, and the New Toys Story sets. I picked up the smaller sets from the Kingdoms line, I must say I'm loving the theme. Legorski, Quote
ZO6 Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Weekly visit to my local TRU in Newmarket - they now have all the World Racers sets in. No Kingdoms, Star Wars, or collectible minifigures. They were nicely stocked in the Creator, Space Police, and Power Miners sets, so I took advantage of their sale and picked up some more creator houses. Quote
Legorski Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 I am very pleased to report that the Walmart by Sherway now has the figgies! I got four, The Spaceman, Ninja, Cowboy, and Caveman. GTA-FOL get to it! Quote
Akitakara Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Hmmm still can't find much of these in Ottawa. :( Couldn't spot any at Lincoln Fields (Richmond Rd) and the Trainyards (450 Terminal Ave) had very few left :( Do you guys think Walmart will get more of these boxes? Quote
The Legonater Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I feel left out now. Hopefully the minifigs will be there next weekend, or I'm gonna be real dissapointed . Quote

tedbeard Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Slightly off the collectible figs topic but I was excited to see that Canadian Graphic Novelist Scott Chantler's latest work , Two Generals, is finished and will be in stores in October 12. It is a graphic novel about Canadian soldiers who landed on Juno Beach and is based on the true story of his grandfather. I really enjoyed his fictional novel Northwest Passage and I think both books will make for great inspiration for MOCs when I get a chance. Quote

dr_spock Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Still no Collectibles at my local Walmart. Going to check Mastermind Toys and TRU next. Quote
The Legonater Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Sok, let's continue this: What?! Is that set even still in stock? Here. In my local TRU, there's like five Temple of Dooms sets. It's crazy. Quote
dr_spock Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Checked out Zellers, Mastermind Toys and TRU today and no collectible minifigs. Mastermind has them online on their website but they limit you to 6. Quote
legomaniac83 Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 I went to Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga today and Wal-Mart had the Minifigs in stock. Looked like whole case, but they were on clip-strips. The Zellers in the mall also had a great selection of Lego, but no minifigs. Also the Wal-Mart at Heartland Shopping Centre (Mavis and Britannia) did not have any of the figs, but the Lego was stocked. The Toys R Us at Hurontario and Eglington did not have figs either. I didn't pick any up as I am waiting on a case, but I can tell you that it is hard to "feel" out what's inside...... Quote
