GRogall Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Good to know I'm not the only AfoL to come out of Moncton, how long ago did you leave? HAPPY CANADA DAY!!! BOO TO HST!!! Oh left, when I was 18 in 82 moved to Toronto till 89, then Richmond B.C till 92... then east to Munich Eh, Happy Canada day to you too, but I got to work...... my next free day is in October Quote
dr_spock Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Happy Canada Day. Taxes on Lego won't change with HST. It'll get more expensive to drive with HST. I guess riding my bicycle is probably better for me in the long run. Quote
MacK Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Happy birthday Canada, we ought to make a giant hockey stick shaped cake. Quote
dr_spock Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Well as a Canadian growing up in Moncton N.B. I now live in Munich and work for an auto company here. I will join this group! Guten Tag. Do you still come back to Canada for visits? Quote
GRogall Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Guten Tag. Do you still come back to Canada for visits? Yep, try to fly over the pond every couple of years. Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Zellers: July 9-15 Buy 1 Get 1 50% off ALL LEGO *2nd item must be of equal or lesser value Quote
crossmr Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Well as a Canadian growing up in Moncton N.B. I now live in Munich and work for an auto company here. I will join this group! Hey, I grew up just outside Moncton, now I'm in Korea! Quote
AriGold Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Well, I can confirm that the Chinook Lego Store is now open. My Bro in Law already went in this morning at the opening of the doors. I am heading down to check things out after lunch as I have to work this morning. No word yet on any specials or deals. If there is, I will post here. I will also take pics, but may need some help as I will have to post them from my Blackberry. Pretty fun day. I hope the PaB wall has some great elements. Ari Quote

I thought it was supposed to open in a week or two. Quote
Akitakara Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Really it's open already? I thought it was supposed to open in a week or two. I heard they're having a soft (quiet?) opening first around the 9th of July And then a hard (grand) opening at the announced date about a week later :) Quote
prateek Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Zellers: July 9-15 Buy 1 Get 1 50% off ALL LEGO *2nd item must be of equal or lesser value Nice. How's their stock? Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Nice. How's their stock? Selection varies by store. My Zellers has a decent selection but I notice 7749 echo base and 7748 cooperate alliance tank droid has been marked up to $34.99 Quote
winbrant Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I heard they're having a soft (quiet?) opening first around the 9th of July And then a hard (grand) opening at the announced date about a week later :) Soft Opening was yesterday, Thursday, July 8th. Have to ensure the staff is trained up and dealing with public well. They had a trainer up here from Seattle to ensure things went well...couple hiccups at the tills when I went through (they couldn't find my VIP account). Block Fest will be held Saturday, July 9th for the kids to coincide with the 50th Annual Chinook Centre Stampede Breakfast. Grand Opening is Friday to Sunday, July 16-18th. A Master Builder will be up here for the 8tf Buzz Lightyear Build. There will be the Opening Exclusive Set as well as a commemorative Duplo brick. It's a great looking store and first one in Canada! It's the newer design layout which is pretty cool with all the sculptures and models interspersed amongst the built-up retail sets. They did not have that fancy virtual machine working yet. They also have a Build-A-Fig station as well as that Pick-A-Brick Wall. As one staff member I talked to said...."I love the smell of ABS in the morning!"...that's a shirt idea Quote
dr_spock Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Yep, try to fly over the pond every couple of years. How does the Lego in Germany compare to over here? Quote
GRogall Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 How does the Lego in Germany compare to over here? Well, for one, you can get almost everything at a store when it is released, And with all the stores that carry Lego its some times easy to get a good deal! But since Canada now has a Lego Company store I'm sure it will get easier We have about 30 good and well stocked stores that sell Lego. As well as a company store near the convention centre...... Sounds nice. One of these days I'll have to make it over there. I hope there will be a wider selection too now that there is a store in Canada. I had to go through a lot of trouble to get the 8258 Truck Crane last year since it wasn't released in Canada. Quote
MacK Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 So has anyone here been to the new Lego store in Calgary? If so do they have a Pick-a-Brick? How much does it cost? Quote
