The Legonater Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Anybody have ANY idea why they picked CALGARY as their first choice? Seems so odd to me. Because it's a big city, is on a major highway (unless I'm mistaken) and attracts a lot of traffic. I'm sure there;s also a host of other reasons, but these are the ones I can think of. Quote
MacK Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Honestly I'm sure their going to go to Toronto at some point. Honestly the only reason that Calgary got it's Lego store first was because they were renovating Chinook mall (Calgary's biggest mall by the way), and Lego managed to secure a spot there. Quote
Akitakara Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 I had hoped that Canada's largest city (Toronto) would have received the first store but, no such luck. Anybody have ANY idea why they picked CALGARY as their first choice? Seems so odd to me. Apparently, they start their first stores with not too busy areas first to test things out *shrugs* Quote
AriGold Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Apparently, they start their first stores with not too busy areas first to test things out *shrugs* Actually per capita, they have the largest number of Lego club magazine subscriptions here in Calgary. (main Reason) And the upgrades/expansion to the mall. Okay some clarification after talking to the Store manager, he says it will probably be in Vancouver. So it is not a forsure thing if we pick apart his words. As well as the Lego trivia, in the end it was kinda lame. He gave away another green grocer and an ATOT dropship, here were the questions. What is his sons name? And, "I'm thinking of a star wars character" So it was more random chance/guess that you got it right. The answer was Joshua and Lando. he did not even get to me both times to ask as someone guessed the correct answer already. There was one question that he asked for a large duplo set, How many Lego stores are there in the world. That is all I got. Ari Quote
prateek Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 There was one question that he asked for a large duplo set, How many Lego stores are there in the world. That is all I got. Wow, that sucks. At least you could sell it or return it to Wal-Mart and get another set. BTW, what set was it? Quote

prateek Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Zellers Instores: July 23-29 25% off ALL LEGO Toy Story 3. I was gonna post this! I might get the Army Men set. $11.25 is a pretty good price for it, considering they hiked up the price of BPs this year. Quote

Last month, ToysRUs had this set on sale for $10. But if you apply for HBC Mastercard, you save an extra 15% off at Zellers driving the price to $9.56. Quote
Ogre Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Zellers Instores: July 23-29 25% off ALL LEGO Toy Story 3. Well that's a drag! Not because of the deal but, because they closed the Zellers that used to be right across the street from me. :( Wouldn't mind snagging the train set. Quote

Akitakara Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I wish they did this stuff with SW... Yeah... that'd be nice. Just remember guys, at Zellers, you can use SPC card for an additional 10% off :) Quote
prateek Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Darn. I went to Zellers today and all they had in terms of TS sets were Build-A-Buzz and Woody's Roundup. Pretty lame if you ask me. I was looking forward to the Army man set. On the plus side, there are a bunch of Agents sets on clearance, but nothing under $20, so I didn't get any. Quote
ZO6 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Zellers Instores: July 23-29 25% off ALL LEGO Toy Story 3. Nice! I've been holding off getting the Western Train Chase as I was hoping for a sale somewhere. 25% makes the price a bit more reasonable. I picked up some other TS sets at Zellers a few weeks ago when they were on sale and they had a great selection. Hopefully the selection will be good this time around again. And it's rumoured to be around the first week of August before other new sets start appearing right? For example the new Star Wars stuff (Slave 1 etc). Quote
prateek Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Toys'R'Us sale!!! 20% off all Pirates, City Fire, and Duplo sets 25% off all Ben 10, which essentially means all the sets are $14.99 (they have this sale at Zellers too BTW) BOGO 1/2 off Bionicle Quote

prateek Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Oh, I had no idea that the slae has been going on for that long. Quote
ZO6 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Went to my local mall today (Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket) to take advantage of the 25% off TS sets. Picked up the Western Train Chase and Army Men on Patrol. Lots of stock on all of the sets. Also went into the TRU to check up on things. They now have a wide variety of the games for sale which were located on a large shelf near the Lego. They may have had all of the 2009 releases, but I specifically remember them having the following: -Robo Champ (approx.$13) -Monster 4 ($20) -Lava Dragon ($20) -Race 3000 ($27) -Pirate Code ($27) -Magikus ($13) -Minotaurs ($?) -Ramses Pyramid ($40) -Creationary ($45) They also had Harry Potter Hogwarts for $40. On the Town front, they had the train Level Crossing set for $27. Hopefully they get the rest of the train stuff in eventually as I'd love to get them on sale. They also finally have the Pig Farm & Tractor. They also had all of the canister Hero Factory sets, as well as the Furno Bike and Drop Ship. They may had some others, but they did not jump out at me. I didn't check prices. Finally, for Technic, they had the Container Truck for $90 Hopefully more new sets will pop up over the next few weeks. Happy hunting! Quote

Ogre Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Oh, btw... Did some calling around...series two minifigs are expected in TRU here around the first or second week of August and the TRU City truck is currently in the computer system but, not in the stores here in Toronto yet (but, dude says that if it's in the system, they shouldn't be long in arriving)...stores are set to receive 3-9 sets, depending on the size of the store (example: Cedarbrae Mall~3 , Vic Park~9).
