prateek Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 (edited) Man, I checked EVERYWHERE in that store and had the shift manager ripping up the stock room looking for them! Their system said 120+ in stock but, they couldn't find them ANYWHERE. And yes, I'm in Scarberia. Wow. I think I'll have a go after school one day Maybe someone stole them all with the help of Agincourt Wal-Mart's shoddy theft detection system. Edited August 26, 2010 by prateek Quote

Okay, so I didn't find them, but I did find Neptune Carrier for $50 (compared to $80). I didn't buy it though because I don't really like Atlantis. And it seems that the SW BPs are $13.96 compared to the MSRP of $14.99. They even still had the 2009 BPs. Edited August 28, 2010 by prateek Quote

If she gets testy, let a manager know. Unless they are aware of employees with bad attitudes, then they can't do a thing about it. My store is mobbed by phone calls and questions about the new Series 2 minifigs; we actually think it's kind of funny how many people want these things! Customer service is super important nowadays no matter where the store is. A ticked off customer will end up buying from somewhere else, and that's never good for retail! Quote

GRogall Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Since you guys are just talking about TRU in Toronto I was wandering isn't there any independent toy stores in Toronto I remember there was a Marryland toys near Young and Bloor in the 80's but maybe they are gone now? Quote

There are still a lot of independent stores, but a lot of them mark up the prices so much! I went into one the other day, and a SW BP was $22.99! BTW, there are no toy stores anywhere near Yonge and Bloor Quote
GRogall Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 BTW, there are no toy stores anywhere near Yonge and Bloor Well like I said it was in the 80's so the would probably be gone now! It was on the south side of Bloor before the Manulife centre. Quote

I saw the shipping cartons for those BPs when I was in there (they were still on the skids in the aisles) and I thought I was mis-reading the labels when I saw the 2009 ones. Guess I wasn't. Serious? Oooooh, I'm guessing the manager already knows, since she was getting testy with the manager on duty when I was there a few days ago. Since you guys are just talking about TRU in Toronto I was wandering isn't there any independent toy stores in Toronto I remember there was a Marryland toys near Young and Bloor in the 80's but maybe they are gone now? Merryland Toys either BECAME "ToysToysToys", or was taken-over by them. Not sure which. They're a small chain now, too...and generally quite a bit more expensive than either TRU or Mastermind. Mastermind is good, but rarely has sales...best thing about them is their annual 'warehouse sale', usually held in Scarborough at their warehouse but, they often don't have LEGO, or much of it, anyway. The year that their sale was held at Yonge and 16th, they had a TON of LEGO on sale...Cafe Corner, several Batman sets, Sandcrawler, etc., etc. Some weren't great deals (Cafe Corner), others were pretty sweet. I scored the Sandcrawler and two Batman sets from there. Long lines, of course but, worth the wait. There are still a lot of independent stores, but a lot of them mark up the prices so much! I went into one the other day, and a SW BP was $22.99! BTW, there are no toy stores anywhere near Yonge and Bloor Yeah, the indy stores here can't compete, price-wise. No way. They get muscled-out by TRU, Mastermind and Wal-Mart...though Mastermind is not even any real competition, especially with their crappy weekday hours. Zellers sometimes has some good sales but, it's rare. Quote
Ogre Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 (edited) Spotted at "Fan Expo 2010" here in Toronto this weekend: No, I wasn't there (sadly) so I don't know what all was there, what 'exclusive prize' that sign is referring to, or anything else about what LEGO was in attendance. My friend who WAS there is kinda lacking in the 'details' department. She was there for the anime and gaming stuff and doesn't really care about the rest. LEGO, Stan Lee, Summer Glau, William Shatner, Adam West, Burt Wart, Julie Newmar, the 1960s Batmobile and Batcycle, the Winchester's Chevy... Man, it SUCKS to be broke! *edit* Two more pics added. There was also a LEGO Darth Vader statue but, for some reason, my friend's pics of that didn't turn out very well. Edited August 30, 2010 by Ogre Quote
prateek Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Oh, I had no idea this Expo existed. But, I have no interest in going. I'd rather spend $30 on Lego instead of an Expo where 1/2 the stuff I don't know a thing about Quote

The LEGO stuff was in the sci-fi area, from what I was told. Quote

legomaniac83 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Minifigs are at the WalMart on Mavis and Britannia in Mississauga. It looked like 2 cases hit the shelves. I managed to get all the rare ones: 3 spartans, 2 Surfers and Pharaohs, and 1 each of Singer, Skiier and Disco dude. They had lots left. Quote

Hmmm...there's nothing on his official website about it... Or, perhaps are you referring to his WIFE? She passed away in July (I think) from what they are saying was a self-inflicted OD (suicide note was found). Edited September 2, 2010 by Ogre Quote

I was fairly sure it was him, but now my certainty has gone down the drain... Quote
