prateek Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Lots of 2011 sets at the TRU in Mississauga near Argentia/Winston Churchill. They have pretty much everything except for NinjaGO and Series 3. Even Star Wars!?! Quote
The Legonater Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Well, there were comments about Regent Zellers, Grant Park Zellers, and Polo Park Zellers, so I figured there were several people from Winnipeg besides myself. Speaking of Zellers- have you seen Cad Bane's speeder in any? I haven't been able to find any. Quote

prateek Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Sherway Gardens? Why not Eaton Centre or Yorkdale Mall? Those two get much more traffic than Sherway Gardens. I haven't been to Sherway Gardens in over 5 years. Anyways, I'm happy that they are finally making one here in T.O. Quote

Sir Fred Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I was expecting Toronto be the next place getting a Lego store in Canada, then probably Vancouver. I figure it's going to be a long time before one shows up anywhere near here on the East Coast... Quote

I heard about this and Toronto back in July when Calgary opened. Quote
Ogre Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) There seems to be a rumour on Lugnet of a Lego Store coming to Toronto. http://news.lugnet.com/org/ca/obb/?n=315 Crap. If that's true, I'm NOT happy about the location. I no longer have a car and Sherway Gardens isn't exactly 'transit friendly' when coming from the complete opposite side of the city. I would have hoped for something in the Eaton Centre, at the very least. there is a unoffical lego store in waterloo: lego store I wonder if that used to be "Bricks and Blocks", since that store was in Waterloo also (as well as Cookstown) but, their website and Cookstown store have been gone for a while now. Oh, and BTW...in case y'all haven't noticed it yet...the 'Darth Vader' alarm clock is sold out on S@H and the 'Stormtrooper' says 'please call to check product availablity'. Canada_7 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 About time...but ugh about the location. Sherway Gardens? Not very easy for me to access. Those more educated in demographics and economics and all that stuff, what's the reasoning behind opening up a store in Calgary before Toronto? Quote
IAmWillGibson Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I'm new 'round these parts, but I'll chime in with a rumour. While I was at the Rockefeller Center Lego Store last month, while filling out my VIP thing the checkout guy said, rather hush-hush, "I hear there's a store opening soon in Richmond Hill, wink wink." Which struck me as odd for two reasons: 1] why would a guy in New York know a location as specific as Richmond Hill vs, say, Toronto, and B] why the hell would it be in Richmond Hill? I mean, now I see that's where Lego Canada seems to be headquartered, but still. Did he have insider knowledge? Did he have some sort of information confused? Was he just shootin' the breeze? Ponder as you may! And I don't mind Sherway Gardens, really. It's not terrible to get to on TTC, and if you look at the demographic, it feels like it sorta fits. I mean, I don't have a ton of experience with the stores in any other locations, but it seems official Lego stores veer towards the upper-scale, and Sherway's kind of a jerk mall. By which I mean a bit snootier. Either way, I will apply to work there. Quote
Canada_7 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 ^If it was Richmond Hill, much easier for me. Quote
Ogre Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 ^If it was Richmond Hill, much easier for me. Ditto. It would be either a) double bus fare, or b) a bit of a walk from Steeles Ave., but either way, it would take me a lot less time than a trip to Sherway Gardens would. Quote
prateek Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Ditto x2. I'm still puzzled about why they'd put it in Sherway Gardens! Quote
Ricecracker Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I wonder if that used to be "Bricks and Blocks", since that store was in Waterloo also (as well as Cookstown) but, their website and Cookstown store have been gone for a while now. It's the same location, and Toy Building Zone absorbed their stock when they left. About time...but ugh about the location. Sherway Gardens? Not very easy for me to access. Those more educated in demographics and economics and all that stuff, what's the reasoning behind opening up a store in Calgary before Toronto? From what I've heard, the location was determined through a number of 'studies', including TRU's highest percentage of LEGO sales in Canada. I'm new 'round these parts, but I'll chime in with a rumour. Ponder as you may! I've heard about a potential store in Richmond Hill for a couple of years, but clearly there's been nothing yet. I assume Richmond Hill also has a high percentage of LEGO sales, as well as being where LEGO Canada is headquartered. Quote
sok117 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I for one am Bloody darn happy if they make one in Sherway Gardens, thats like a 20 minute busride/subway TTC excursion from my house!!!!! Quote
The Legonater Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Toronto realy isn't much closer to me than Calgary. And even if it is, I find myself in Calgary so much more often. Quote

Exactly! 20 minutes is way too long! I can get from my house in Scarborough to the Eaton Centre in 30 minutes, which is way shorter, considering Eaton Centre is probably a lot farther from me than Sherway Gardens is from you. Quote

prateek Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) My brain might be tired...but I sense sarcasm in the first post unless I'm mistaken... You are mistaken. I think I have some 'splaining to do. What I meant is that it only takes me 30 minutes to get to Eaton Centre from my house, which is in the north east part of Toronto. Assuming that sok117 lives a less than 2/3 the distance between my house and Eaton, taking 20 minutes to reach Sherway Gardens using TTC is too long. Edited November 26, 2010 by prateek Quote

Ogre Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) I think I would be happy if they open the Lego Store any place with free parking. LOL! Yeah, I'm sure a lot of folks feel that way. A suburban mall would be better for that than say, the Eaton Centre. So...for ease of TTC AND car travel...LEGO should open a store in the Scarborough Town Centre! (and the fact that it would be mere MINUTES away for myself and 'prateek' doesn't influence my decision at ALL! *innocent look*) Edited November 26, 2010 by Ogre Quote
