The Legonater Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 This is what originally thought , I'm still not sure if its a good idea or a bad idea though, my gut is telling me that the employer would want someone who knows about the product athand, but I don't want to come off as a know-it-all type. I'm thinking yes- an employer isn't going to want someone who has no interest in the work. I recall talking to some of the people working while I was at the Calgary store, and they all seemed very informed on the new stuff coming out in the coming months (at the time). Quote
dr_spock Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Having a passion for the product that you are selling would be a plus. Having enthusiasm for the job would be even better. Quote
Ricecracker Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 FYI, all the positions I've seen posted by LEGO have a minimum age of 18, and are required to have a high school diploma. Also, correct spelling and grammar could prove to be beneficial... Quote
prateek Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 As Ricecracker said, Lego only offers retail jobs to 18+ people. You could always apply there as a university student. It seems a lot of Lego workers are in their early-mid 20's, so you might have a chance then. Quote

Jeff VW Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I'm cross-posting this into this thread because it has to do with Canadians, too. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52378 I read here: http://www.bricksnorth.com/ That BricksNorth will be "coming soon" to Canada. This was posted in the summer of 2010. Is there any news regarding this event? Locutis I just replied on the other thread about this.. Jeff VW Quote

IAmWillGibson Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 In case you did not know, LEGO has now posted the Brick Specialist Position for Toronto. Brick Specailist Jeff VW I just applied for this one. I don't know if I'm qualified to manage the place, but I'd certainly be in for customer service. I feel it'll be a pay drop from my current job, but more consistency would be good, and being around LEGO all the time would, like, rule. Quote
Canada_7 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I wouldn't mind working there but I'm not knowledgeable enough on Lego to be a good candidate plus I live on basically the opposite side of Toronto (wouldn't be worth it to make the daily commute), Quote
Ogre Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 For any folks in north-east Toronto: Toys R Us Markville has quite a pile of series 3 figs in stock and Mastermind across the street (north-east corner of McCowan & Hwy 7) has both series 2 and 3 on the shelf, with series two still on "buy 3, get the 4th free" (all at MSRP of $2.99 per fig). And, if you don't mind paying a fortune for what you can get cheaper elsewhere: ToysToysToys Scarborough Town Centre has series 3 for $4.99 each and series 2 for $6.99 each. Quote

The Legonater Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 For anyone in Winnepeg, around Polo Park there's a lot of stores with Seires 3 minifigures. I picked up three myself, and got the Alien, Hula Dancer and the Sumo wrestler. Quote
Locutis Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 For anyone in Winnepeg, around Polo Park there's a lot of stores with Seires 3 minifigures. I picked up three myself, and got the Alien, Hula Dancer and the Sumo wrestler. I found that Chapters Polo Park had a very good selection. I was able to pick out some needed S3 MF from their containers near the kids section. I'd say they had 3-4 cases worth there. Locutis Quote
legomaniac83 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I was out and about last night and noticed some Series 3 figs and a fair amount of newer sets at the Chapets in Oakville. Also, at the TRU on Hurontario & Eglinton in Mississauga there was 4 boxes out. One was half full, two others were full and the 4th was still sealed. Good to know that there are still a lot of these kicking around for people who haven't got their hands on them yet. Quote
flyz Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I'm not sure if anyone has posted this yet. Sherway Garden's website now has an event planned on April 21... It might just be a placeholder but there's always hope Quote

The Legonater Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 This weekend I managed to pick up 6 more of series 3, but I still haven't found the two I want the most- the Elf or rapper. I haven't really kept up with the news on series 3, so iw as wondering if any of you had found (or heard) a way to distinguish the figs without just feeling them out? Quote

I haven't really kept up with the news on series 3, so iw as wondering if any of you had found (or heard) a way to distinguish the figs without just feeling them out? with the elfs if you can't feel the sheild but you can feel the hair it could either be a samurai or elf if it is an elf than you should try to feel the sheild behind the base. with the rapper you should try to feel the hat than you know that it is either rapper or baseball player. if it is the baseball player you should be able to feel the bat, if it is the rapper you should be able to feel the boom box. I haven't really kept up with the news on series 3, so iw as wondering if any of you had found (or heard) a way to distinguish the figs without just feeling them out? wasn't there a dot system? To feel them out, I say r4-g4 has got the right idea, usually the shields are easy to feel for if you bend the package to feel the sides of the shield, you should be able to run your fingers across the entire outline and make the shape perfectly. For the rapper, go for feeling the boombox, just a thick block, but make sure you feel the handle too, cause you may confuse it with a pair of legs. hope this helps! Quote
Squeezeplay Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I always kinda wanted to be Canadian... looks like fun! Quote
Alex the Great Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I always kinda wanted to be Canadian... looks like fun! Well it is quite awesome! What country are you from? Quote
Squeezeplay Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Well it is quite awesome! What country are you from? I'm in the USA. I've been to Quebec City, and then Montreal, many years ago (I forget exactly how many, I think it was in the 1995-2000 era), for a Jazz festival in Montreal. It was awesome. When we entered the country, my dad and I had no problem getting in. Then, when we were leaving, the officials on the Canadian side stopped us and did a BG check on us. They found out my dad had a few drunk driving arrests on his record, so they kicked us out and told him he can never come back! Lol. The only 2 countries I ever had a yen to emigrate to were Canada and Japan. No pun intended. Quote
